Title: Lcd Laptop Monitor To Work With Xbox?
Post by: coldasice on April 30, 2007, 06:38:00 PM
Ok, I got a free laptop today. Nothing special its very very very old. Were talking the origional pentium processors. 223ghz if i remember correctly. Naturally I tore it to pieces looking for salvageable parts. I got a LCD monitor out of it and Power Supply. I want to make the LCD work with my xbox I am currently building. I have no idea where to start in all of this. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I can take some pics if requested. I know the brand is NEC. Again please help me! Thanks in advance.

it's not impossible.. it's actually a tad (a tad) bit easier than most make it out to be...if you're really really REALLY into using it for something check out this project log:

and the LCD controllers can be had at:

www.earthlcd.com

make sure you're looking at the right stuff, the controllers really only work with certain screens and the standalone VGA to LCD converters are even more limited than some of the PCI to LCD converters.all in all you'll probably be just under breaking even with the controller cards vs. buying a flat pannel monitor outright. the only real advantage is it's a bit thinner, even after the controller cards, and you can say you did one of the "impossible mods" it's definilty a lot of work and a lot of money though.

have fun

Thanks man. I really appreciate it. Now to sit down with a full pot of coffee and absorb all this information. Oh yeah and my wallet is quivering in fear.
