Title: Best Picture Quality
Post by: JMoore on April 26, 2007, 05:47:00 AM
Hi there I need some general newbie advice on getting the best picture quality from my modchipped XBMC xbox. I am hooking it up to a projector that (according to the manual) supports HDTV60/HDTV50 (1920x1080i) and 750p (1280x720). As far as I know component (YPbPr) is the way to go...a couple of questions though...

1 What do you recommend I buy to get a component signal output from my xbox. I'm looking at two options. Something like this which has multiple outputs and optical audio (which I may use) or something more simple such as this which has just comp video and audio.

2 What settings will I need to change to get the best picture out of the xbox? Do I need to use MS dash?

Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK I have done a bit of reading but still have a couple of questions. Basically, I would like to know what people recommend I purchase to be able to get component out of my xbox (what product is the best)?

Use the offical xbox badged HDTV pack (IMG:http://www.xbox.com/NR/rdonlyres/83A9BE81-49E1-4BE8-B438-110CD8AF205A/0/ilmhighdefinitionavpack001.jpg)

Other cords usualy cause ghosting in HD. Use M$ dash or XBMC to change the video settings.

Thanks for your feedback, yea it seems both are hard to find here in New Zealand, however I can get an official Microsoft HD Pack off eBay (reasonably expensive though). I could get the 400X off eBay, but I'm unable to find the 100X addon for optical audio which I want. Is the difference between the Microsoft and Monster products quite significant? Sorry couldn't find the post you were referring to...

I had the same problem, because I already had the 400X & I need optical audio out (so I can play 5.1 channel audio) I needed the 100X.

This is just a scheme Monster has devised to sucker there customers into spending more money; their 400X propitiary  connector plugs into an adapter (100X) that uses a standard optical output!?

I was willing to pay up to $100 for the 100X but all the places in Australia that did stock this item ($99 AUD) had discontinued it.

Luckily I found a brand new one for $15 AUD on eBay (after days of searching...).

Your best bet would be to get the standard MS HD Pack, if you can find it.....

I did notice a 'difference' with the Monster cables vs MS HD Pack, although not overwhelming, it was noticable enough for me to upgrade.
