Title: High Definition Av Pack
Post by: AcynoniX on January 04, 2007, 09:49:00 PM
Greetings!

I've recently got my hands on a Samsung 50' plasma TV and now i'd like to
have my Xbox throw out HD signal but the XBox High Definition AV Pack
is out of comission/dead/not in store.

I have the Advance AV pack, (SVideo and Digital audio )
and the normal composite cable that comes with the box.
is ther any way i can hack the cable and put somt RCA connectors
and send the RGB signals to my TV ?

I read the tutorial for the VGA cable,
but my Media center is already connected to that port.
so i cant really use that, besides then my Xbox has to stay home.

can anyone guide me ?
thanks in advance.

The Xbox HD AV Pack doesn't output RGB, it outputs YPbPr. All HD-Ready/Full-HD TV's should have a "component" input (three RCA jacks for the video, colored red, green and blue) which accepts an YPbPr signal.

You can make your own pack by looking at the pinout of the AVIP.

I'm in pretty much the same situation. I have the Advanced A/V pack and want to know if it is possible to add the HDTV outputs directly to the breakout box. I dont want to mess with the inside of the xbox itself, and I use the optical audio so getting one of the universal kits isnt an option because they dont have that. I've looked all over for the HD pack but its not worth $40 much less the 79.95 I keep finding it for.

So is there a simple way to open up the Advanced AV breakout box and do some rewiring in it to give the YPbPr signal or am I going to have to open the xbox and solder the board?
