Title: Switch For Av Output
Post by: pimpmaul69 on June 08, 2006, 11:31:00 AM
vga is switches(jumpers) 2 and 3 not 1 and 3 like some pics show... i think it should be able to display both s-video and vga no problems without adding switches.. just use the 2 jumpers

1+3 = VGA - 640*480.
2+3 = HDTV - 720*480, 1280*720 and/or 1920*1080.

nope... 1 and 3 is not for vga... even look at the vga cable diagram it shows 2 and 3.. 1 and 3 was for the original vga bios... not any vga bios used now days.. if you read my post you would have read that i said the one that says 1 and 3 is wrong.. i have made several vga cables and have vga built into my xbox... all of them are 2 and 3.. 1 and 3 wont work at all on any vga bios i have

Thanks for your input.  Can anybody out there actually verify that this is the case?  It can output both simultaneously?

Wow.  If so, this is news to me.  I have wanted to put a hippad in my xbox, but haven't because the video is composite and the xbox outputs high-def.  I didn't think this was possible.  Is it?

yes in fact switches 2 and 3 will work on everything except rgb.. rca, s-video, vga, component, optical, and digital audio all work on those 2.. well on an ntsc xbox i know it works..

^^ this suggests svideo and component can both work with 2+3 ... on mine i definitely need 1+2 for svideo or its a double image and black and white.

2+3 does work for VGA and HDTV tho on mine

1+3 still works with the latest NKPatcher for softmods. The last BIOS I succesfully tested it with was the modified iND-5001 BIOS (BFM version) for 1.4/1.5 Xbox.

1+3 will work, depending on the mod. Some old TFT screens which are picky about their resolution work better with 640*480 compared to 720*480. I still prefer 2+3, however. It allows you to adjust your resolutions and is in general more compatible with all games + more recent VGA mods.

Summary: 2+3 is better and should be used.

if you do 1 and 3 you will lose spdif and optical.. they are controlled by switch 2
