it is possible. i've a very similar setup, except im running linux.. so can't really help you with the config. but what you need to do is find an app, or somewhere in your settings which will allow you to process the digital stream and send the output directly out to your speakers.

i haven't really checked it out, just did a google search. but anyways, look here http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/ it may do what you want. but like i said, i haven't tried it, so im not sure.
