Title: How To Connect Audio
Post by: HMAWL411 on October 23, 2005, 01:32:00 PM
i was looking at a new monitor that has component inputs on it. there are no audio inputs on it though of course. i have 5.1 speakers hooked to my computer and this monitor was gonna double as a computer monitor and monitor for xbox/360, so i was wondering how i would go about using the audio cords to get audio with the monitor being the video. preferably i would like to use the 5.1 speakers hooked to my computer and then when i switch to my xbox use those speakers for its audio, cause i wouldnt like playing my xbox with no audio.

o i didnt know that that was a temporary url, but that sounds like what i need. the thing i was looking at had me getting converters and cables and having to unplug stuff everytime i wanted to switch so that sounds a lot better. its just thats $150, and i cant find any stores that have, at least it wasnt on their site. i checked bestbuy circuit city and compusa. i even checked newegg so i guess i just have to find somebody that has it. the weird thing is creative isnt selling it on their site.

i e-mailed creative and they said its not out yet, the reviews i seen i think were dated back in january so it should have been out by now shouldnt it. and there is one on amazon but i would much rather go to a store and buy it. is creative just being stupid or has it not been released almost a year after there were reviews for it

I've never seen this product in a retail store.  I don't think there is enough demand for them to stock it.

You'll have to find it on the web.

Also, Creative has stopped making these, so your only hope is to buy a used one or find a place with leftover stock.

Only place I found was throught c-station through Amazon.com, but who knows if they really have stock.

Also, remember at $150 you are getting close to something like this:
http://www.walmart.c...duct_id=3880829

Which will most likely sounds better and offers more inputs etc.

i dont think you can hook speakers up that have like the 1/8in inputs that a soundcard in a pc has. which is what i need because i was going to get a monitor that has component inputs on it and have it double as  a monitor for my pc and my xbox/360. and i wanted a way to hook up the speakers from my computer that i already have and be able to switch back and forth depending on what im doing, i dont want to have 2 sets of 5.1 speakers on my already crowded computer desk.
