Post by: guitarfrk on October 03, 2005, 08:51:00 PM
alrighty...i got a softmodded xbox..v1.6b  and want to use the vga mod for a project  (here)  ....jw what would be the best approach....buying the cable (preferably not this ), or the homemade vga pot (not cable) mod 4 my box.....i may be getting a duox2 if that makes a difference...thx in adv.

note ...on my project...i know i cant use the screen already inside the laptop bc the whole lcd controller thing soplz dont comment with the "IT WONT WORK UNLESS U BUY A 800$ LCD ADAPTER!!" bc im replacing it with a flatpanal moniter with a vga input..

No, you wouldn't need a VGA BIOS (which doesn't yet exist for 1.6 Xboxes) if you bought a VGA adapter.

Doesn't the Xecuter 3 support VGA on 1.6B?

Yes, I believe X3 BIOSes let you turn the 'VGA patch' on and off. But since guitarfrk doesn't have an Xecuter 3 modchip, it wouldn't be very useful in this situation.

But, if the X2 Config Live BIOS (which can also enable/disable the VGA patch) can be converted to BFM, or if there's a BFM version floating around, it could be loaded with Phoenix BIOS Loader. I don't know if this would work, though, so guitarfrk would have to try it at his own risk.
