Post by: deacon187 on August 07, 2005, 11:14:00 AM
tjis is a tuff one, all i can say is if your tv doesnt suppport 720p, do not enable it in the M$ dash as i had a few games have a scrambled picture when 720p is on but my tv doesnt support it

Halo2 isn't a 720p enabled game so that doesn't make sense.

I think it's your BIOS.

Ava isn't a bios, its a dashboard.  You may need to flash a newer bios to your xbox modchip.  I like the xecuter 2 4981 bios, but other bioses are good too.  This probably wont help, but try running the games from Xbox Media Center.  When I used to use Avalaunch or EvoX many games wouldn't run.

Like Mr Ed said, the problem isn't 720p since none of those games are 720p.

So, i'd update your Bios, and then if that doesn't work, try launching the games from XBMC.

I haven't tried re-loaded all the games in the new mode (16:9, 480p enabled). Should I give it a try or am I just paranoid?

if by re-load you mean take them off your HD and put them back on, no this shouldn't change anything.

The only other thing i could think of would be to clear your cache.  Its located on E:\CACHE\ and X: Y: and Z:  if you delete all the contents of these folders it might help.  note that you still need to have the e:\CACHE\ folder, you just delete the contents.

not all games support widescreen, check http://www.hdtvarcade.com/xboxlist.htm

burnout 3 is widescreen, but did you enable it in the MS dash?

I'm not too familiar with widescreen.  I have a HD projector too, but a widescreen image is smaller than the 4:3 so i play all my games in 4:3.  maybe your projector is different.

simple solutions to many problems is to A: clear the cache, and B: set the xbox clock.

happy modding.

You are correct.  I cleared the E:\Cache folder awhile back (because it's says "cache").  But I didn't know X: Y: Z: were cache folders too.  Newbie me.  Thanks again.  I'm going to play some more Madden now!
