Title: 480p On A Vga Moniter?
Post by: michaelb on April 27, 2005, 05:12:00 PM
Here is a VGA transcoder that will convert the xbox signal into a usable (480p) signal for your monitor.

check the x2vga site also, I would recommend that over a transcoder

wink.gif  That's why it's actually called a transcoder on the website. Most other VGA adaptors are labeled as VGA boxes or VGA converters, not VGA transcoders.

720p and 1080i work just fine for me on my VD-Z3. It doesn't just upscale, it actually converts. TeamXbox even said they found the picture quality on it to be better than that of the X2vga in their review of the enhanced VD-Z3. Plus being able to use it with other devices apart from the Xbox makes it better IMO.

Both the x2vga and the VD-Z3 are transcoders, or color space converters.  Both do true 480p, 720p and 1080i.  The other cheap vga boxes are referred to as "line doublers", and do not give a true 480p image, but a psuado 480p image.

Well then the VD-Z3 isn't a common VGA box.  wink.gif  That's why it's actually called a transcoder on the website. Most other VGA adaptors are labeled as VGA boxes or VGA converters, not VGA transcoders.
