Would the Bios create the problem i am having? I have gone through all my games and it happens in all of them, and its not only near lights. I talked to the guy who chipped my box and he said that it has to be something in the bios that isnt reading the HiDef part of the game correctly, does anyone else think that is the cause? Again this problem only happens on chipped boxes and only in Hi Def. when i plug in my S video it looks fine and when i use a non chiped box it looks fine.

Well.............try turning your chip off and running a game in the default ms bios.  That will answer your bios question, which i think is has nothing to do with it.

Well I cant really make out the lines in your pictures im going to try and get some pictures of the problem i am having, my problem only happens when i am playing the games not on the start up.
I have found another problem though in the settings menu for avalaunch i mistakenly hit the revert to back up eeprom and completely erased my M$ bios not the only Bios is xecuter, so i cant boot in the normal M$ dash.
ill get back to you asap

Here are a couple pics of the problems i am having, you can see in the screen dark lines/ patches. as i move the character around the lines will move up or down the screen, they only appear in certain spots of the game also.user posted imageuser posted imageuser posted imageuser posted image

oh..

so its only one game and certain parts of that game that are affected?

i think it must not be able to render those portions for some reason.
corrupt file?

Actually i get this in every game i play in high def, it only happens though when i play on a modded xbox, a non modded box plays crystal clear in high def. it something with the mod, i have tried multipal modded boxes boxes and they all do this same thing. this is why i am hopping its just a setting in the box somewhere that can be fixed.

ive tried it in evo x and executer. i think that its a setting in the DVD2Xbox when i am backing up the game. not possitive but yes i have tried 2 different bios, unfortunalty i accedently erased my eeprom for the MS bios, so i am stuck in the chip mode.

try getting avalaunch dashboard (version is up to 0.4.3) , my brother plays everything in 480p, has to disable 720 and 1080 because the dashboard isn't finished yet.  He uses a Philips 34"

okay now i have come across something that i hadnt found before, iguess that when halo 2 came out it had some sort of bug in the program that causes a problem with the 480p in high def, could this also be affecting my other games and is there a way to fix this bug in the game without the live download?

i will see about getting the newest version of avalaunch.

also noticed last night when i turn 1080i off in the options menu in avalaunch and i rebooted in to 480p mode the menu screen became distorted like the games do in 480p, i dont see this distortion when the dash is in 1080i mode. just incase you might think that its the progressive scan in the tv my dvd player play perfectly in 480p and so do nonmodded xbox's.

still searching....

Merged the two threads.

As for your problem....that's really fucked up.

So I have a modded XBOX, and use an HDTV and haven't seen this issue.  I'd like to know what happens when you take your XBOX and connect it to a different HDTV (like in the store) and if you still see the problem.

It really sounds like the video chip is fried but since you've found consistencies across modded vs. unmodded XBOXs I guess that cannot be it.

Also, if it becomes distored in 480p mode, but your DVD player doesn't....are you connecting them (the XBOX and the DVD player) to the same inputs?  Many HDTVs only allow 480p on specific inputs and expect a different signal on other component inputs.

Well, not really.  It just didn't send a signal that it was 16:9 format, which many HDTVs (i.e. Sonys) ignore anyway.  So HDTVs that auto set the aspect ratio on 480p didn't auto set the aspect ratio.  A bug yes....a big deal...no.

No, it's only specific to Halo 2.

doubtful.  Was there even a Live download fix?

Are you connecting the DVD player and the XBOX to the same inputs on the TV?  Some HDTVs fix the resolution to specific inputs (i.e. a 1080i only input, a 480i only input, etc.)
