Using the power supply for the digital o/p is a bad idea.
- The supply is minute and designed for the tiny current requirement needed for the optical transmitter.
- Relays require protection, usually in the form of a diode across the coil. As the voltage is removed from the relay coil, the magnetic field will collapse. In doing so the field will induce a voltage back into the coil. This voltage can be as high a 3 - 4 hundred volts. This phenomenon is known as back EMF (Electro Motive Force) It will damage the XBOX.
Trigger your relays by using the HDD supply. Also see my tut on Hardmods

cool, just make sure you have the AVIP protected from back EMF with diode. Use something like an IN4004.
