when im playing games using x2vga my moniter says they are running at 640 x 480 resolution.i tthought 480p = 720x480
-
Did you enable 480p in MS Dashboard ?
Thats what I had to do with mine.
-
yes i have enabled all the hd mods in ms dash, when im playing in 480p my monitter says its 640*480.btw im using x2vga
-
Ihave that problem backwards, my HDTV only supports 640 X 480 resolution and my 480p is always in 720 X 480 can anyone help me please?
-
disable widescreen in msdash?
-
I don't fully understand the issue, but like sparrow said widescreen in the MS Dash should control whether you get 640x480 or 720x480. 720 is the width when it thinks you have a widescreen (16:9) format TV or monitor.
-
i have tried 16:9 and widscreen modes in my dash.but thr moniter still displays it as 640*480..may be x2vga is displaying 480p in that resoloution.any one with an x2vga can confirm this?

I have witnessed this issue before in work.
First off remember is 480/3*4=640 so 640x480 as everyone is saying is 4:3. Widescreen is 720x480.
When connecting a Tag McLaren DVD32FLR to a Sim2 HT300Plus by component, the display info says 640x480 or 640x576. When connecting the same kit together by DVI, it 720x480 and 720x576. I am led to believe that the true resolutions are only available when connected digitally, or in a fashion that carries data.
This topic is interesting, and I look forward to hearing from others here.
