Title: Xbox Tv?
Post by: Cathesdus on November 04, 2004, 12:53:00 PM
What do you mean?  Like a web browser for the Xbox?  Well you can download and use Linksboks which is a fairly impressive Web Browser or you could install Linux and use that web browser (which is a lot less buggy but requires a keyboards and linux know how to install.)

EDIT:Sorry, you had me thrown off when I saw WebTV (WebTV is a webbrowser designed by M$ that lets you browse the inet on your TV).  What you need to do is search the Xbox Media Center forums.

Now THAT would be a cool mod, especially for somebody with spare TVs and XBOXes sitting around.

Well there is, kinda...

You can take movie stream files (.strm) and open them up in XBMC and watch whatever the stream goes to which is the same thing as doing it with webradio only its video and you have to select them manually.

unsure.gif Basically here's the deal, if it works on Linux, it's probably a standard and doable.  If it only works on Windows, it probably requires a proprietory client that will never be ported to the XBOX.

Never heard of it.  What format are the streams in?  Who sets up the streams?  If it's a proprietory pay service from just this one provider, it's never going to work on the XBOX (and why would you want to support a pay site like that anyway?)

But maybe I'm misunderstanding this stuff.  unsure.gif Basically here's the deal, if it works on Linux, it's probably a standard and doable.  If it only works on Windows, it probably requires a proprietory client that will never be ported to the XBOX.

There are other applications that will give you these same channels. The one I pointed you to is easiest to download, however, they do see to charge for what other people give as free.

I am Linux challenged, how would i know if this app will run on linux? Can someone test it for me and let me know which files to move to my XBOX? I sure would appreciate it...
