That does sound like the same problem. Here's what I have learned since yesterday:

1. It is definitely not the TV. I bought a cheap progressive scan DVD player and it puts out an absolutely beautiful picture using the same component cables that came with my xbox hd pack.

2. It ONLY happens when playing a DVD movie on the xbox. Games do not have the same problem, regardless of if they are running 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i.

3. Although I did not patch the ms dash to play progrssive scan, I did try playing movies through DVD-x2 and I still have the same green banding.

I got my xbox when they first came out, and it has a manufacture date of 12-05-2001. I believe that means it is a 1.0, right?

The television is a Philips 55pl977s, which is a 55" LCOS rear-projection. I'm not that worried about this problem anymore, since we won't be playing movies through the xbox, but it is still kind of puzzling, and I'd like to find out what is causing it.

Ah Hah!

Key pieces of missing information here.

So the problem arises when you try to play 480i output thru the component cables!

You should try a game which DOES NOT support any of the progressive modes.

I'll bet you'll see the same thing then, meaning that it could well be a problem with the TV. You are just not seeing it when you hook up 480p devices, such as the DVD player.

It may be that the TV can't handle 480i thru the component cables.

I have the same TV.  I experienced the same problem.

I believed I fixed it by turning the deinterlacing on or off one of the two(I will check tonight).  It was last week at 2 AM on Tuesday so I am fuzzy on the details

It should look the same as your progressive scan DVD player.

Try it an let us know how it goes.  I used finding Nemo to test compare PQ btw the progressive scan DVD and the xbox.  

If you did not mod your xbox, I don't believe you can fix it, unless the MS dash allows this capbility.
