Since it's new send it back, they have a 2 year warrantee on it, or you can contact them directly and arrange for a FREE warrantee repair.
No problems whatsoever with this.
BTW:
You'll be really disappaointed with those other "converters" which do not do the job... the Xbox will look fairly bad on the LCD/VGA display.
Get the X2VGA instead. It's worth it. |

You said "NEW" monitor for free, so I assumed that you received a new display.
However there is a good chance that the power "brick" was damaged and an equal chance that the problem lies with the inverter or florescent tube.
First check the voltage on the "brick". Does it output what the display needs?
Does the power light come on the display?
If so it's getting power. If not it can be fixed.
If it's getting power, do you see a faint image on it when you hook it up to the computer? You may have to hold the screen at an angle to the light to view the REFLECTED light from it, to make out the image.
If so, you lost the florecent tube which can be fixed cheaply.
If you do NOT see an image, but the light comes on, it still can be a voltage inverter, but this takes someone with a bit of skill with LCD sets to debug.
If it's the screen itself, you are SOL.

hi first post (i think),
i'm looking into getting a converter to play my xbox on my monitor and the x2bga looks pretty good. however i'm from Ireland and reading this from the x2vga website....
MS disables the high-definition video output on the PAL version Xbox(only sold in Europe, Australia, NZ, Hong Kong etc.), so it cannot work normally with the X2VGA. However, the Xbox consoles sold in North America, Japan, etc. which belong to the NTSC version, will work fine with X2VGA. Please take note of this in advance. We will not accept exchange or refund for this cause.
...it doesn't look good. anyone know of any alternatives? |
You merely need to switch your Xbox to NTSC then it does work.
I just got my X2VGA in the mail. After a while of tweeking the settings, it now looks gorgeous on my Philips LCD. Just Beautiful! ♥♥♥ I highly recommend getting one if you want to utilize your computer monitor as an xbox screen.
I bought a vga convertor a while ago so I could hook up my Xbox, Nintendo, Dreamcast, and 64, but it looked like complete crap. Thumbs ↓. It was because it was converting composite video to vga. It will never look good. You have to get something that converts directly from the xbox source to vga or component to vga and use the xbox high def pack (but even this way I have heard people have fuzzyness and a jumpy picture)

after its chipped, or before?
also if i decide not to get that one can anyone recommend any of these? |
NO!
Those are merely "upscan converters".
The picture will be HORRIBLE!
There is a reason we are telling you to SOLEY go with the X2VGA box.
i put that lcd up for sale on kmy bst thread some one buy it please. i dont want it.
