Title: Problems With Enter The Matrix 1080
Post by: Cookiesrus on January 30, 2004, 08:42:00 AM
Hi i recently bought a projector that was compatible with all HDTV signal and also progressive scan.  I have the official MS HD pack, and its all set up nice.

So far i have tried the following

Freedom Fighters 720i
Amped 2 720i
and a few others at 480i.

I have patched my dvdrx to progressive scan, this is tested and works.

Now here is the strange one.  I bought enter the matrix cause it is 1080i compatible and i wanted to see how it looks. I had my dash all set up and my video settings on NTSC (i am a PAL user so i had to do this to enable Component output) put enter the matrix in booted up.

The projector did flick into 1080i then i got a dirty disc error. At first i thought it was the disc, but after trying it in 3 of my xboxs i found the strangest thing.

My Matrix will only work under the PAL video settings, which means no 1080i, i have confirmed this now several times using three diferent xboxs (they are also diferent models) and two diferent drives (thompson and samsung).

I have also tested this on an XDK using pal setting but with the 1080i settings enabled, unfortunatley this didnt resolve my problem.

This has left me a little po'ed as although the game itself sux it is one of 3 or 4 games that actually run in 1080i and i am yet to see it as i live in the UK and our TV standards suck!

The only options i see available to myself are either get an NTSC matrix or perhaps just the actual xbe file.

Could anyone provide me with any info on this subject as i am now officaily stuck!

Thanks to everyone that reads this thread and special thanks to those who post!

no i understand that HD isnt available to pal, so i made an NTSC eeprom for playing 60hz, this enables me to use HD.

Like i said above i have tested some games that are known to work in higher res than 480p. these include

Amed 2 720p
soul calibour 720p
Tonyhawks underground 720p
freedom fighters 720p

so it really isnt a problem with hardware, i think its and xbe issue for matrix, as i am getting the dirty disc error upon loading in NTSC video mode.

Thanks though!

The Pal version Matrix is not able to play in NTSC xbox, the different it the video in the game. In the Pal version Matrix, the video file will call XXXXXX_Pal, in the other hand, the NTSC video file will call XXXXXX_NTSC.
If you edit those file to XXXX_ntsc then you will able to play the game in 1080i.
