do you have an hdtv? if so, it may not be equipped to handle a 720p picture. adjust the settings on your xbox to not show 720p.

I do not have a hdtv.. how do i adjust the settings for 720p or whatever?

This was covered awhile ago.
Play with the video settings in the MS dash. Once you choose a mode that works, set it back to the way you want it, and it should work fine again.

Have you tried the game on a different xbox & tv combo? Does it work?
If so, then try your xbox on that tv....and the other xbox on your tv. This will tell you exactly what piece of hardware is causing the problem...

1) Change video setting to PAL with video selector
2) From MSdash change the setting to PAL60 support=NO
3) Change video setting back to NTSC
4) Hey presto video and sound
This worked for me - had exact same problem as you, hope this helps
