Title: Xbox Hd Pack And Hdtv Question
Post by: celinedrules on June 26, 2005, 10:08:00 AM
Sorry to bring up an old topic but I am trying to use the same TV w/ the same problem. When I first turn on the Xbox its scrambled. Then once UnleashX loads in 1080i its fine. I can't run any games cause they are scrambled too.

I read above where it says:
QUOTE
You have to go into the ms dashboard and enable the video settings to display 480p and 1080i
But when I access the dash it gets scrambled again.

try turning off 720p in the M$ dash as most games dont support it anyway, i had a problem with amped 2, i had all video settings set to yes, but my tv doesnt support 720p just 480p and 1080i, and i think maybe that amped 2 supports 720p but since my tv doesnt i got the scrambled screen as it was trying to run in 720p or something of that sort, soon as i turned off 720p in the M$ dash everything was fine

btw alot of dvd players you need to go into the menu and enable your HD resolutions as well

You'll also need to enable 480p in the MS Dash so games run in 480p, and use the thumbstick trick to make the MS Dash run in 480p as well.

I need help. I have a Philips HDTV model number 55PP9352. You can check out the TV at the fallowing URL:

http://www.consumer.philips.com/global/b2c...ductId=55PP9352

Ok onto my question.

I just picked up the HD A/V pack for my XBox and I hooked up the red, green and blue A/V cords and the red and white audio cord to the HDTV's A/V Y, Pr, Pb and the audio jacks.

I then put my TV on AV4 and turned on the XBox. I can sorta see the XBox logo but the TV is scrolling like its out of sync. Before hooking this up, I had my XBox set to the standard setting.

After dicking around with the XBox for about 20 minutes, I noticed my DVD Player also have Y, Pr and Pb jacks ont he back so I tried hooking my DVD Player to cables and it does the SAMETHING. It just scrolls like its out of sync.

My friend seems to think the TV isnt HD but the TV says HDTV Monitor right on the front, and in the back I have a panal called HD INPUT A/V4 and its got  a red green and blue RCA jacks that say Y, Pb, and Pr next to them and red and white audio RCA jacks.

Can someone maybe give me some idea's as to why nothing is working on these jacks? Also yes the TV is set to YPbPr and not RGB, so was the DVD Player. The DVD Player is also set to NTSC.

Help?

I have the Philips 55PW9383 and the av4 inputs only support 480p and 1080i, what is happening is the xbox and dvd player are set to output 480i which will give you the distorted picture like trying to watch a scrambled payperview movie.  You have to go into the ms dashboard and enable the video settings to display 480p and 1080i.  Don't enable 720p because I don't think your tv supports it.  As for the dvd player you have to go into the settings for the dvd player and set it to display 480p because it is set to 480i.  Consult your manual it should tell you how to do this.

You probably need to use a different tv/video output on your TV.

Were you using AV4 with the RCA xbox hookup?  HD is on a seperate tv/video output then RCAs

Also make sure you have all the colors pluged into the correct color input

nah av4 on the philips tv's are the component inputs and they only support 480p and 1080i.  The only other input that supports the higher resolution is the DVI input.

I got the same TV and got mine to work. You need to turn the xbox on with the hd cables first then got to your settings in MS dash and turn on Video settings to yes for 480 and 720 and 1080i.  If you have optical cable also you go to your settings in ms dash and do the audio section aslo. When setting this you need to have your cables plugged into the rgb input on the ones that do not have the dvi input. I am sure you will figure it out.

One thing tho I need to confirm with you guys who have the 55" Phillips.. When playing NBA Live 2004 .. Do you see the screen flicker - in the areas of the court. It flickers light and dark on the screen... I hate that. - Once you hook these up you will notice better resolution and more vibrant colors.... but the light dark flickering is getting to me. arrgh!

I see this flickering on many games, I don't know if there is any way to stop it.
