Title: 5.1 Sound System For Xbox

I would not recommend the 5.1 xbox/ps2/console specific systems to anyone as they are generally low powered and used for one single purpose. I would spend a little more $ and invest in a Home Theatre In a Box setup. They have come down dramtically in price and have great value as they have built in AM/FM tuners, some with their own DVD Players, and more inputs to connect your entire system. It's just so much nicer to be able to connect all your componenents, TV, XBOX, PS2, DVD, VCR, Cable/Sat Box to one unit and have it be your central home entertainment unit. After I got my first HTIB, my TV speakers have never been turned back on...

I bought some Logitech Z-680's last spring, I like them.  They are around $250 now and pretty powerful.  When I look back I probably should have gotten a home theater in a box like DBZracer suggests, but they aren't nearly as powerful as the Z-680s.  Plus, I already have the xbox as my dvd player so I guess its not a big deal.....to each his own.

If you get the home theater in a box setup, you need to make sure the player has an optical input.

Z-680s for sure! They can rival most $500+ 'Home Theather In A Box' type setups, and win.
Put them up against any bs Boise system, and even then, they'd win.

They're great!

But to go all out, get a Rotel or Linn reciever, throw on some Paridigm Monitor's or some B&W's!
And I can tell ya from hookin my Xbox up to a Hi-Fi system like that...AC-3 Movies sound AMAZING! And of couse so do games.
(Yea...I'm sorta a noobie Hi Fi nut   )

I checked out the Logitech Z-680 and it said that it can connect up to four audio sources simultaneously. Other than an AM/FM reciever, what would be the difference between this and a 'Home Theather In A Box' type setup?
