EDIT: didn't realize you meant dvd movie.
You could plug in a normal dvd drive to watch the movie but then you have cables everywhere and the xbox open.
Maybe the xbox media player can read vob files im not sure. but you wouldn't be able to use chapters or anything.

I have watched DVD movies off of my pc hard drive on my xbox. XBMP has trouble after I finish the first VOB file (about 15-20 min into the movie). It starts playing the second VOB in spanish or french. I can't get any settings on XBMP to change that.
Another interesting thing to try is to map the DVD drive on your PC to XBMP. I tried it, but I never could get the buffer set right or something. Anybody ever get the DVD drive mapped like that? I have mapped 2 PC hard drives and played files off of them.

I believe XBMP can only play decrypted VOBs, so you'll need to rip them on your PC before playing them. You can map your DVD drive from yoru computer via RelaX (or Samba), just make sure you have a large enough buffer (I use 8192kb and have never had an issue).

maybe you're right, aron. i know that decrypted vob files will play, but i have never gotten the dvd to play from my pc drive. i thought it was a buffer problem.
