The xbox dongle uses RCA codes. If your Sony remote is programable set it up for RCA DVD players and it will work. If your Sony remote is a pure Sony product and not programable you will have to purchase another remote to run everything.
-note - unless you have a very advanced remote not every function will be represented on your Sony.
