Title: Hd Pack Mod :-)
Post by: Habs69M on October 29, 2003, 10:33:00 AM
Ok hope this info will be usefull to someone

I used to be in the dark (no image) when booting the xbox through the monitor when the vga bios aint loaded(go to chameleon mode blind). but i noticed that without modifing the
HD pack i would get a image like i would on a tv but on my monitor.

So i decided to install a switch on my HD pack (enough room there lol)
i used a on-on switch and wired pin 11 and pin 9 to that switch and the black wire in the avip.

So now i boot in retail mode go in evox and when i change to the vga bios i flip my switch and voila

If you are wondering why i did this, 1st in vga mode i couldnt load evox 2nd i was tired of loading the box off my tv to then transfer it to the monitor once the bios was selected., so now i can do it all from the monitor (that made my day )

Now the only dash that i cant see on the monitor is the MS dash (original ) since when i load my original its with the original bios (mod off) and my HD pack switched to retail but still dont see it.

Anyways this is my progress so far and once again hope this helps someone

Have a nice day!
Chris

You still need a synch on green capable monitor (mine as 5 bnc inputs in the back)
And obviously a vga bios, 3 bnc to rca plugs (radio shack) plug you HD pack with its original rca cables to the 3 bnc plugs in the monitor.

Some apps and games come out green but i found out that if you load XBMC with the vga bios and then from there load whatever you want, apps or games, they will be in true vga  smile.gif

Any ways hope all this makes sens loll

Not all games.  Try morrowind, splinter cell, and KOTOR.  At first the games colors are fine, but after the first save is booted up, the bios are reset and thus disable the vga bios and return back to the original bios making the picture green.

Yeah i know not all games come out ok but  i have a couple of apps and games that come out with true vga after loading XBMC

Rainbow six 3 come out so nice in true vga  smile.gif  but you are right morrowind, splinter cell, and KOTOR are green.

Its just to say that loading XBMC first will increase the compability list of apps and games that you can have in true vga  smile.gif

Now if i could only boot M$ dash on my monitor but without the mod on i would be verry pleased  cool.gif

No problem, glad you could make sense of it all.  I'm working on another vga tutorial to add to these forums here (the tutorial Habs69M is referring to is on xboxhacker.net) .  It really is quite a simple process; much simplier than what the current vga tutorials are.  The tutorials also allow for HD setting, where the other do not.  And the pin placement of 9 and 11 are wrong on the current tutorials; this caused me much frustrations when i originally was screwing with the vga cable.

I'm still confused.  Could you please list out everything that a newbie such as myself will need?  In my case I have a monitor that supports sync on green.  Thank you.
