sunn02 i dont think that you can change the date format but i could be wrong, read through the text files in the a lire directory and see if you can find anything
The intro movie can be played on startup by changing the config_pro file

remembering that in french 'oui' is yes and 'non' is no
Brandogg maybe because it is only a beta that you can run it at 1080i?
Liquidvlade hiraduo in response to your "suggestions"
1. dash2gam has always acted this way when changing skins
2. not sure if v2.3 skins will work with 2.4 (havent tried it yet) but im sure that there will be more skins soon
3. As i said in an earlier post there is one problem with the FTP but other than that it is direct
4. trainer menu would be cool
5. as far as i know most xbox programs dont auto update and im quite happy to download patches and update myself they usually arent big
6. im not sure what you mean by this question
7. Do you mean background music like the M$ dash or background music from your ripped CDs on the Xbox hard drive
to have the sounds from the M$ dash remember to copy the audio folder from the C drive to your dash2gam folder
QUOTE(mintoman @ Apr 20 2005, 01:11 PM)
1) did you copy over the audio folder from c: to the dash2gam directory? ill have to check on my xbox (1.1) when i get the chance and let you know if there is the ambient audio but from memory the dash only uses the transition sounds from the M$ dash and not the ambient (background music from soundtracks)
If dash2gam doesnt play the ambient audio files in the background i might have a way to make it play, ill test it on my Xbox later and let you know
2) i did alot of reading through and comparing of the Skin.ini's and the english config_pro.ini and cant find anything about the angle of the arms on the 2GAM skin, to change it would probably involve editing the skin.xip (which is way over my head) somehow to alter the angle.
D'oh I wasn't aware Dash2Gam only used transition sounds. Explains why I can't hear the engineroom file. If you figure out a way to play ambient sounds that would be killer. Kinda figured that skin fixing bit would be tough. Tried figuring it myself but...

and one more question about dash2gam 3b, i installed it almost the same way i did 2.4 with all the location configuring and everything, how come it wont work?
I don't know which chip you're using but I had a couple snags as well with my 3.0b install. Make sure the Dash2Gam.xbe (named default.xbe originally) is placed in the same directory as the Dash2Gam folder. Not in the actually folder though.
My E: drive looks like this...
E:
Applications (folder)
Dash2Gam (folder)
Dash2Gam.xbe
dvd.dll
etc, etc, etc
My config_pro.ini looks like this...
[Systeme]
1=default
2=E:
3=root
4=MS
[FTP]
LocalIP=xxx.xxx.x.xxx
SubMaskIP=xxx.xxx.xxx.x
GateWayIP=xxx.xxx.x.x
Password=xbox
Login=xbox
[LED]
LedSequence=gggg
Make sure (If your chip is X3) that you update the dashboard boot drive inside X3 Config if needed. My Dash2Gam.xbe was on my C: with older versions and I had to switch it to E: for the new xbe.
Hope that helps.

Ill upload them as soon as i figure out how to fix the colour of the music panels buttons, damn things keep staying green and also parts of the audio menus (behind the track listing is green)
sigwood can you help me with this i am a bit of a newb to skinning in d2g
there wasnt a Cpico.xbx in the XIP so i used the one from the 2gam skin so i could tell what i was doin, ive edited it to the way that i want it and put it in the xip but it still comes up green when i upload it
is there somethin im missing to make this work?
If you are modifying a skin.xip file that never had a CPico.xbx texture in it, you must edit the default.xap file to include a reference to CPico.xbx.
You can add any textures you want, just as long as they are referenced in the default.xap.
I added extra GameHilite textures to mine so that each tab is a different color.
If you open up the default.xap file in notepad you will see how to add a new texture. You need to add in this info:
Transform
{
children
[
Shape
{
appearance Appearance
{
texture ImageTexture
{
url "CPico.xbx"
}
}
geometry Mesh { url "skin.xm" }
}
]
translation 0 0 300
}
Alternatively, I would suggest using the 2GAM skin.xip and adding your new textures to that file since it has a different layout than the old skin.xip files. The music panel buttons used to be separate files, but now they are all in one texture.
If you modify the 2GAM one to look how you want it, you will be more compatible with the new version of Dash2gam. What I usually do is extract all the textures and go through them one by one to change them to what I want to see. Then I copy the original skin.xip file to a new folder and insert all the new textures, replacing the old ones.
Ok guys here are my blue skins after a bit of work and some help from sigwood (thanks man)

thanks minto, imma try these as soon as i get a chance
dash2gam woo
I make my own skins using an existing skin as a basis for texture dimension. I like having my own custom orbs and textures.
I hope they do implement a file manager, because I still keep UnleashX on my Xbox to use as a file manager and I would like to be able to just have Dash2gam.
memory menu crashes always
bug or not?
dash2gam 2.3 skins are compatible, i tested that the other day so if you want some links for 2.3 skins theres a thread in the other dashboards section
Sigwoods right we need a file manager, i use xbmc as a file manager but would really like to see one in future releases, its one of the few things dash2gam is missing
The memory menu crashing has been a problem for a while buts its never been a problem on my xbox no matter what version i use, maybe im just lucky?
QUOTE(sunn02 @ Apr 23 2005, 12:34 PM)
where do yall get your skins from? do you just get them from a website or make them yourselves?
I haven't time, i download the skins.
- Xboxdash.org
- Kanaberra.free.fr
I'll join the chorus requesting a file manager. That's the one big thing I miss from UnleashX. Being able to open .ini files and edit right there without needing to ftp plus just plain nosing around in game folders is sweet. It's one of those things that isn't a priority for me but it would make Dash2Gam even crazier than it already is.
