I'm still trying to set it up on my F drive somehow.  Not quite clear whether you can do it or not, because it says drop it into the root of the E drive, but then what's the path in the config_pro.ini for?

Eh, well i'm getting an error 21 now, but i'll keep testing.  I think some people on the french forums were having the no video trouble though.  At least that's all I could understand after babelfish translated it for me.

So, anyone know the answer to either question?

the folder Dash2Gam should be on E , the path in the ini is for the xbe , root if in the same location of the Folder (E)

I get video with no sound now, haha, anyway, I've never used it before, but if there anyway to change the first menu?  I hate having an extra step before going into the Games folder.

Also, how can i get it never to play that SmartXX video again?

I would love to turn off that intro video also.  I video and my sound is my own background music.    Does the dashboard looked chopped on anyone's screen?  I am on an NTSC tv.  Weird.

To turn of the video I think just delete the WMV file.  it's in the Data folder I think.

To my question has anyone got this to boot from E correctly?
I get the Sound with no video.

I tried adding the Dash2Gam folder and its default.xbe file to E:Apps and when I boot evox dash I go to the Apps folder and it shows along with other applications - XBOX Dashboard.  I choose that and get an ERROR 21.  I have changed the config_pro.ini file to look like this:

Does anyone have a common Dash2Gam .ini file (in English) that is similar to the evox settings?  I have my Apps folder on E: and Emulators, Games, and evoxdash.xbe and evox.ini files on F:  How do I get rid of the ERROR 21 message?

Is there a way to increase the volume.  The intro movie is loud but the dash is quiet?

I was able to get this dash to work through Evox but I want iND-BiOS to boot to it - everytime I configure iND-BiOS to point to the default.xbe in E:Dash2Gam folder, the startup video doesn't play, the main screen shows up (works), but I can't ftp to it like I can through Evox.  BTW, I configured the .ini files in both Evox and iND-BiOS to point to the default.xbe file in the Dash2Gam folder.  the .ini files in Dash2Gam are configured correctly.  Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the ftp through Dash2Gam to work after I boot it using iND-BiOS?

*** /!\ ATTENTION /!\ ***
- The Dash2Gam V2.2, based on a M$ Debug dash and NOT Certified, does NOT launch with the EVOX Bios.
- The FTP server of the Dash2Gam V2.2 does NOT work with the Bios IND BIOS which has a Bug.

Thanks for telling us about the IND BIOS having a bug!  Hope to see this fixed soon. smile.gif

It ain't a IND-BIOS bug, please read the readme (IND-BIOS's readme that is) it's quite easy to solve.

This Dash is crap - there really isn't much to it other than a stupid video (woohoo).  It works through evox including ftp but it take at least three steps to get there - it's ftp does not work through iND-BiOS.  I'm just not impressed with everything you have to do - "setup both .ini files" - that suks - who has the friggin' time for this crap!  For all you so called developers, put something out that people can use right away and make damn sure it is perfect. v.1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.0 etc. is a bunch of bull......

If you don't have the balls to edit a few .ini files you simple aren't worth a modded xbox.
Dash2gam is a really cool dash because you can change all that stuff in the .ini file. If you don't know how to get the FTP working with iND-BIOS then get an other dash you simple aren't good enough for this dash.

The whole modding scene is about changing config files, XML files and ini files if you don't want to spend time into that go back to windows we won't miss you.

Dash2Gam is a kick-ass dash and once you have configured to your liking it up to your liking you will love it :-p

Now go and get me some coffee, I wasted a minute on this reply.

Do you mean that i need to change the Host Name in MS Dash which is located in the settings for xbox live in the original dash? Otherwise, i cannot find the "internet name" that you mentioned.

Seems to be a small bug with the ip display.  When I have DHCP enabled, Dash2Gam is still showing the manual ip entry.  FTP is working correctly, but not through the ip displayed.

Thanks,

to rid this problem, ive deleted the ms dash but now all i get is error 16.

Is it xbox has gone cuckoo because it was okay before i used v2.0, or is there a bug with the dash. I though it might have been the bios but ive since reflashed my x-bit with X2.4980 but still same problem.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

ps: X3 just wont work at all   dry.gif

Is there any way at all to delete or change the intro video. It seems that if i load up my own and rename it to the default 'intro.wmv' it wont play it. Seems to be that the size and resolution is written into the code in some way making it impossible to change.

And a great dash by the way. Thanks for all the hard work you lads have put in for us mere mortals!!

I've changed mine by just uploading my own.  I can't delete it but I can use my own video of any size.

I downloaded an Unleash X intro movie and used that.  It was the Blue Xbox one.  Maybe I am just lucky I guess.

in next release, avail. soon, you'll have the possibility to add a video to each skin:
so you can use the def vid from the dash and/or the vid from the skin, or both or none (entry for that will be in da pro.ini...
So stay tuned...

I have a problem with my skins not fitting my TV screen. I have a Normal sized TV screen and all my other dashboards fit the screen as they are supposed to.
I have the xbox video settings set to "Normal". I've tried different bios to no avail.
I have connect my xbox to a different TV set and its the same problem. I have installed this dash on another xbox and it doesn't fit the TV either. I went back to the default configpro.ini file only changing the path to my *.xbe file.I'm all out of ideas.

Another one of your major problems is that your dashboard seems to be playing Brooks & Dunn.  First thing I would do is wipe out the hard drive and see if you can get that fixed.

LOL !! It's there because i grabbed one of my girls cd's from her car as my dvd-rom won't read all my cds as they are all burned discs. I wanted to be sure i had the dash properly configured.

Thanks for the progressive scan info. I don't see how that would affect the image
in this way.Progressive scanning, otherwise known as 480P (p=progressive), creates a picture signal with double the scan lines of a conventional interlaced picture, 480I (I=interlaced), to create a noticeably sharper image and don't see
how this can cause an enlarged image.I hope your right though..

Thanks

Ok, i tested your theory about progressive scan ( 480P ) on my widescreen TV with my component video cable enabling me to receive 480P. You can see the YPBPR displayed in the upper RH corner as well as the 480P in the upper LH corner. The skin remains the same and even when switching the set over to 4:3.
I know it must be something about this dash becasue it only does it with Dash2GAM.

does this work on a 1.6 xbox?

Ive tried all sorts of ways to get this to run, but ends up constantly re-loading evox

ive renamed it 2 default.xbe put it in the root of E put the dash2gam folder there and changed the ini

Chemin de l'Application=root
Disque de l'Application=E:
Nom de l'Application=default.xbe
Configue=pro

ive even tried some off the other variations, making a dashboard folder and putting it in there and changing the ini appropapatly but nothing..

Help......

Yes i works on V1.6 , that is what i am running it on. If it keeps booting to EvoX it is not because you didn't config your *.ini file correctly but because you bios is being told to boot to evox. You need to either make the necessary changes to your bios OR you could just delete your evoxdash.xbe and copy your dash2GAM.xbe  to the root of your " C " partition and then rename to evoxdash.xbe. Make sure you use the fixed  Dash2GAM.xbe file that was released.

I've got a question about dvd playback using a gamepad as a contoller.  I can see that 'y' button take you back to the main menu and that the 'x' button acts like the 'display' button on the remote.

Do any of the other controls work? Like something to pause, rewind or fast forward?

Just wondering ...

Thanks for all your efforts.

Hi, great Dash!

I been using the 2.0 version without problems so far and Im planning to upgrade to 2.2 once I got it working flawlessly.

Most of my questions are answered now, but I got 3 more questions:

1.- Can I get rid of the FTP status on the upper right corner? If so, how? (I couldnt find the option on the CONFIG_Pro)

2.- Im getting some strange items on my GAMES submenu. I got the names of my installed games, but also some numbers and symbols that reset to the default dashboard. Im not using 2.2 as a default, so I want to know if this is maybe the problem.

3.- I definetely like the Blue Solid Dashboard of the 2.0 release more than the new one. But when I copy that skin folder to the 2.2 one, Im still getting the gray new one. How can I fix this?

10X in advance

(yeah, I copy/pasted my own post from gueux...nobody seem to care about it)

I think you'll find that in those game dirs....it's empty or there is xbe's other and default.xbe

when I ran dash2gam it would just send me back to my default dash...or error 21
switched nkpatcher7 to pbl-metoo and it works now...

You should of had a txt document when come with the download of the dash.  If not here it is:

"Halo2 Dash" by MastereX

===Installation Instructions===

1. If you don't have the green version patch Your Dash with Green.xbp using HeXbe

2. Insert xbox4.xbx into mainmenu5.xip

3. Insert xboxbg.xbx into default.xip

4. Extract default.xap from default.xip and open it with something like notepad

5. Search for "DEF theBackground Background"

- Now make it look like this:

   DEF theBackground Background
{
    skycolor 0 0 0
    backdrop ImageTexture { url "xboxbg.xbx" }
}

6. Reinsert default.xap back into default.xip

7. Resign and your all done.

Thanks for downloading this skin. Hope you love it.

You need to ftp across the whole of c:\ on the xbox in to a directory called Backup on your PC.  Then copy all of that into a new folder called something like MOD.  Download WinXIP from X-S.  This is needed for steps 2,3,4,6,7.   Use the files from the MOD directory.  The backup one is there just in case.

Follow the steps from above carefully and it should work.

I just switched to dash2gam from thc lite.  I like it, but there's 2 things that dissapoint me.

1. I don't speak french.

2. I suck at skinning.... or at least I haven't been working with dash2gam long enough to know its ins and outs.

That being said, I would love to see some better english translations for things. - It's getting better though, and I can guess on alot of things.  (Background knowledge of one european language can help with others - 'a lire' for instance holds resemblance to the spanish word 'leer' meaning 'to read')

As for skinning, maybe I'm just not dedicated or too lazy or something, but I can't figure this out. I want a really simple dark blue skin.  So I started with the included MS skin, dropped in the 'bleu.ini' colors ini file.  Pretty good, but now I can't figure out how to make the menus blue instead of that hideous xbox green.  Does this have to be changed outside of the colors.ini file?

In any case, this is a great dash for anyone willing to put a little time into perfecting the beauty of a modded xbox.

I would love to see a dash2gam section on allxboxskins.com too.

u can change the intro..if u convert the file to WMV8 ..i use Stoik and WMV encoder for that...also its easy to translate the Configpro files to English...just do a search..Kana wrote the english instructions..and i found alot of skins..most on french sites.. the only bug i have is the Dash doesnt seem to loadup on 4controllers....and im using PBL metoo..which isnt suppose to have the USB line
so is it a Dash bug? or Me? by the way..Dash2Gam has got to be the best dash...cant wait for UIX..but for Now Dash2Gam is 2nd to NONE..great job 2Gam,Yoshi,Kana cool.gif

Ok, so I figured out alot of what I was missing by toying with the config file and reading the translated config file.

This thing almost has too many options.

Here's what I've got so far:

My question is this - Am I missing something on how to change the green in the above pictures (like behond the Memory selection in 1st or the entire menu in the 2nd) I've played with the color editor, and didn't see any green.

Also, the ip in the upper right corner is incorrect - it seems to be getting the ip from DHCP.

But the more I play with it, the more I love it.  Keep up the great work guys!

I am also having the same problem, blue dashboard with green buttons.
Are you sure its not just an oversight in the color program. There seems to be a lot of green options still.

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to have more submenus?
The menu I want.
Games - Racing - NFSU2
Games - Sport - FIFA2005
etc.

There doesnt seem to be enough options in the config.
Thanks
