Ok, here are my temps from turning on the Xbox:

Dec 26 18:31:02 Temp1: 50.00 F 10 C Temp2: 68.00 F 20 C
Dec 26 18:32:02 Temp1: 60.80 F 16 C Temp2: 73.40 F 23 C
Dec 26 18:33:02 Temp1: 66.20 F 19 C Temp2: 75.20 F 24 C
Dec 26 18:34:03 Temp1: 69.80 F 21 C Temp2: 78.80 F 26 C
Dec 26 18:35:02 Temp1: 73.40 F 23 C Temp2: 80.60 F 27 C
Dec 26 18:36:02 Temp1: 75.20 F 24 C Temp2: 80.60 F 27 C

Now I don't believe that the Xbox could be at 10 C from boot. My ambient room temperature is about 26 C right now. I don't know what's going wrong...

Maybe these are the actual temp. readings. The temps you get on a PC using motherboard monitor or Asus Probe or what ever are not the actual temp. measurement. The software uses a formel to calculatte (in other words guess) what the temp inside the CPU is.

Sounds right to me. Seeing as many people are seeing lower temps than ambient. I'd like to know where each temp sensor is in the box. Anyone know?

Only 5 degrees? Damn, my temps are very low then! It doesn't seem right though, as I can start the Xbox in 25c ambient and the first reading I get is 9c after which is slowly creeps up. So if I add 5, then that's still only 14c. Sounds more like 10c off to me.

Haven't you ever picked up a solid metal butter knife in a normal temperature room? It's always colder than the ambient room temperature... Think about it.... Why is that anyways? smile.gif

Actually, it's not.... it's just that the metal is a better conductor of heat, meaning it can drain heat away from your fingers faster than the surrounding air.

The knife is room temperature, which will be cooler than your body, in most circumstances, just as the air is.

This is why the same knife will seem much hotter when picked up in high temperature environments (say, 110degF, for example).

BenJeremy, you're just a wealth of knowledge, aren'tcha? smile.gif

Now if I could only convince my mother that fans are BAD for you when the ambient air temperature is above 98degF!!

anyways, my tempretures

03:49
1: 12C
2: 18C

my room temp is about 22C

whoever water cooled there xbox in the pic below should have made their own block that fits across the gpu also. they dont generate that much heat. and also 10c suprises me really for something with so little heat. I could probaly get better tempretures with a modifed hd/fan.

I thought I read somewhere that the temps are air (inside the box) and cpu.  Makes sense.
