hi guys,

I cant seem to get online to get some skins.. can anyone help me?

Computer : ip 192.168.1.64
subnet 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.0.1
 DNS:  192.168.0.1

XBOX : same as above except 192.168.1.65 for IP


i can get RSS feeds....

I have the exact same problem but nobody has ever been able to help me.  With my current setup here's what I CAN do:

newsfeeds
Linksbox surfing
XBMC weather
XBMC - streaming music
XBMC/Kai - play games

Sure sounds like everything is configured correctly if I can do all of those things.  Here's what I CAN'T do though:

Download skins in UX
Download gamesaves in UX

I just don't understand what the problem is.


Funk, if you are dead set on d/ling skins with your xbox and can't get help then I've got a suggestion.  While it isn't as convenient, I've downloaded skins using Linksbox and then opened and placed them using the file explorer in UX.  It's not exactly practical but it does work.

If you are using a static IP on your pc then you need to change your default gateway to 192.168.1.1 and your dns to 192.168.1.1 you will also need to change the network settings on your xbox to match the gateway and dns of your pc.

Mine is set using the same first 3 octets (192.168.1.*) and everything is working ok.

as an expert in networking, i can tell you what your problem is

1.  you are using the wrong IP scheme.  Home/small networks should always be 192.168.0.x not 192.168.1.x

2.  you should use a netgear router not linksys

3.  never have your computer be the DNS, DHCP, or NAT server.  You ask for trouble that way
4. never use static ip, always DHCP provided by your router

Can you explain why home networks should have 192.168.0.* and not 192.168.1.*?  I have always had the latter and not had problems.
