Title: Failed Flash Of Pc Cd-rw Drive

Anyone know of a way to flash the drive with the firmware another way?  Maybe an external programmer?  It wouldn't be worth it to me to have it done by a company.
I remember reading something about instructions on making a ISA card that can flash hardware, but I don't think I have technical know-how to do that.  Any suggestions?

ive opened up about 10 cd drives in my day and noticed most of them have socketed firmware chips, perhaps you could flash it in your xbox, dont try it unless you know about the chip though, wrong voltages could smoke the chip and/or your xbox. hope that helps

Nope, this drive doesn't have a socketed bios chip.  From talking to a friend I learned I might be able to hook the drive up to my Linux comp and just tell it to flash out to a particular cd-rom device.
