I will soon take a pic of my box, its mod is a blue power led and 8 superbright led's in th circle around the jewel on the slanted border. Do you see what i mean? Consider doing a ring around your jewel in Green led's.  just drill 8 symetrical holes and glue the led through the hole with a clear epoxy then wire in series.

i think the coolest thing is the paint job, i used to have kkatfish's blue flame skins, but i took it off, painted the X white with black speckles all over it, then put the flame skin back on and spray painted blue flames with some white and black speckles on it.  the eject/power board i left with the rest of kkatfish's skin
too bad i don't have a camera...i want to show it off... biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

smile.gif  Linky dinky would be great smile.gif

I'm thinkin' I might try this, except I'd polish the jewel and get a blue cathode w/ a clear jewel... I think it'd be neat smile.gif

Great mod!

How the hell did you place those lights ?
I've done some research but when i want to place those lights i need some room on the place where my HD and DVD-player racket is placed. What did you do with them.

Can you show an inside pic of your Xbox ( without the cover ) ?

Maybe the lights are between the case plastic and the metallic sheet.

Hehehe.. ya, the DVD-Rom and hard drive (120gig) are still in there. I took out the metal sheilding on the lid and put the light in diagnally. The center indiglo stays lit up all the time, and the cold cathode light comes on when its on. I dont know what a pic on the inside in going to tell you, just a light sitting diagnally across the hard drive and DVD-Rom..

Thanx Ace25 ... i thought it wouldn't fit between the top and the HD/DVD player even if you removed the metal shielding on the lit.

I am going to give it a shot soon but i am trying to find a blue Cold Cathode Light.
You used a 30cm ?
Title: Finally, The Correct Place For My Mod!
Post by: rooicity on December 01, 2002, 04:09:00 PM
We use the metric system so i was able to find a 30 cm and i think it would just fit when i move it diagonally in the xbox.
Any expert here in the conversion of inches to centimeters ?

12" = 30 cm

i guess ...

But another thing ... i am quit a newb according to casemodding.
The guy told me i just needed a CCL ( Cold Cathode Light ) and an inverter.
The inverter could be connected to a powersuply cable like is used for the HD and DVDplayer.

Am i correct or way off ?

QUOTE (Gackt @ Dec 2 2002, 09:25 PM)
1 inch = 2,54 cm

I really do not understand that inch/foot/mile, etc... system, sounds very stupid concerning practicity.

Yes, it's not very practical, but this is what our country has grew up on.  An attempt was made some years ago to switch over to the metric system, but it didn't go over too well.  Speaking as an engineer, I do these unit conversions everyday and I have gotten use to them, but my life would be a lot easier with the metric system.

Although, it is unfair to call the system stupid; it's just different.  And if you were to live in the US, everyday things make more sense in the British system.  This is why we haven't changed.

I do find it somewhat humorous that it is the US and one other third world country that still use this system.

For me, I grew up using the "f'd" up system.. and I still hate it.. I could never understand how someone had the bright idea to split a measurement into 1/12ths instead of 1/10ths like the metric system. Then, to have others say.. "That's a good idea, I think we should make that our standard measurement system" has dumbfounded me... I have never liked the American measurement system. I would much prefer metric worldwide. Then again, I also have a problem with so many languages in the world.. why can't we all speak one? And no, I do not think "English" should be the default language... it is too screwed up.. there are better one already in use.. just can't back that up myself, not a language major, but have heard it soooo many times that English is one of the most f'd up languages on the planet.

hey ace25 was wondering what did you use to cut those slits in the top of the case?

Nice mod, would look cool to have it, any ideas on changing the front green light where you press the button to eject the dvd tray?

I used this.. I have not changed out the front LED yet, I looked at it briefly when installing the power button mod, but did not see an easy way to get to the LED. Obviosly there is a way, probably easy, I just did not see it when I looked. I never got into the LED phase.. I started directly with the cold cathodes.. I like them better.. the LEDs are just to intense sometimes.. I know you can get dimmer ones, but it is still one point of light. Never interested me personally.. oh well.. have fun, hopefully someone else can answer how to replace the eject LED, or just take off the plate the hides it, after that, installing should be easy.

I removed the jewel from my xbox so i can look inside it when the cover is on it but if i hadn't see your pictures ace25 i would never guessed that it would be possible to put a Cold Cathode in the small space between the cover and HD/DVD ...

Thinking about LED's now because i am not really interested in making holes in my cover so the CCL would not come to it's full potential with only the jewel to shine through ...

About switching the LED's on the front ...

Chuckles & TheBoz MOD excellent manual ...
