Title: Noob Guide To Trainers
Post by: AE6689 on January 16, 2004, 08:22:00 PM
Someone please write a complete n00b guide to trainers. I have no idea what they are how to use them or what they do. There's tutorials on everything and I think that this would be a good one for people such as myself. (btw you are a much smarter person than me and i'm very proud of you  blink.gif ) Anyway a trainer tutorial would be very nice. TY

EDIT:  Wow! I asked a question and it got pinned! laugh.gif  Nice job btw on the tutorial Oger

Its late im bored I give it a whack I guess learned about trainers today but I guess I give it a shot

First off make sure you have the most up to date EvoX Version

1) Download the trainer you want from

http://trainers.evolutionx.info

or

http://trainers.maxconsole.com/

2) Connect to your xbox and transfer the files that you downloaded to your c:/Trainers

3) Now reboot your xbox

4) If you have the default EvoX.ini ...then on the main menu in EvoX go to Trainers

5)Select the Trainer you want.

6)Now select the cheats you want..infinite health, infinite money etc....

7)Now go into Evo Settings and make sure you have

IGR-->Yes    <-Not 100% sure if you need this

TSR-->Yes

8) Reboot

9) Now load your game using either DVD/HD

10) Thats It

hopefully that can help someone

feel free to add its late for me hehe

The most common problem seems to be with using the wrong version of the game with the trainer.  The other problem people seem to run into is they turn on tsr, but don't reboot, and then say the trainers don't work.  If you could either start a thread listing what you've tried, or send me the list in a pm I'll try and assist you in diagnosing the problem if you have followed the guide in this thread. (this goes for anyone)

About the TSR and IGR thing:

I dont have a TSR but a TSR_type listed in my .ini (yes I have the latest verson). Anyways here is what it says:

TSR_Type   = 0
IGR      = YES

Now I changed the IGR to yes, but I am not sure what to do with the TSR. Do I add that value? Do I change TSR_Type to 1 or yes?

Same thing here
Using
1) evox dashboard 3935
2) TSOP evox bios 2.5y
3) TSR = normal
4) IGR=1
5) some trainers in c:\trainers
6) enabled all ninja gaiden options for example
7) Region: default
8) reboot xbox
9) play ninja gaiden (difference between warez or original version?)
10) effect NONE

Same for 007 everything or nothing
Seems to me that lots of people use these steps and it doesn't work.
If thats the case I rather use working released by the scene trainers
Otherwise make some damn better documentation and troubleshooting guide

smile.gif. Even though i dont need the trainer for NinjaGaiden I just tried it n-e-way just 2 c if it would work. My settings r as follows.

1. PBL 1.4 4979_BFM/4979.67 (X2) Switch installed.
2.Evox 3935+ (latest evox smile.gif
3.IGR=NO
4.TSR=Normal
5. Save & exit

I then went 2 the trainer screen & selected the options that i wanted. Then i saved & rebooted. It worked like a charm.  biggrin.gif

U can learn something from everybody.

Guy's i think its because you guys yell to much "help" instead of really trying.

Ok follow these steps:

1. TSR: Normal

2. Find out what game region your Xbox backup is, then go to the Settings menu and select the right region. For example - If the backup is an PAL and the trainer is NTSC and you turn all the stuff on(Money, infinite health) and then you go select the game and then you find out that it doesn't work, And you say "Hey TRAINERS ARE FUCKING crapzuiziet!".

You can find the region in the Video section in the video section there is something called Game Region instead of "default" switch it to what ever region the trainer is!(TIP: It is in the bottom).

I have done this and it has always worked.

* Remember (Put all your trainers in c:/trainer and only the .etm file. - I also put the .asm file in, but this is not necessary it is just the code).

The one found on the evox page is a .emt and everyones saying replace the .xbe, well, where the hell is the xbe in the trainers :(?

Sadness sad.gif

First there are 2 types of trainers being released.

Main stream trainers .. meaning REPLACING the XBE file ..
naming the trainer xbe file to default.xbe and RENAMING the game default.xbe to GAME.xbe ..

the second are EVOX TRAINERS ...(.ETM files) these trainers are to work ONLY with evox..and that is it.   The newer versions of evox IF taken from the source..will have a Trainers folder on c:  and a place in the ini file pointing to trainers..so it will show up in the menu... then select the option in the evox menu and it will list the .etm files you put in the trainers folder on the c:

Now there are good and bad things about the 2...

The mainstream ones you need to rename.. are cool.. but you must..
modify...and also alot of times because you rename the trainer to DEFAULT.XBE ..
dashboards look at this file for the NAME of the game... and will populate it in their games listing... however lets say DNL released the trainer.. it may say DNL GAMENAME TRAINER ...   instead of just GAMENAME   this may make you want to change the name of the trainer so that it will show the correct game name...etc etc.,.that is more modifying.

Evox.. on the other hand seems to give people problems.. with IGR ..TSR .. and different bios's being run...also it MAKES you HAVE to use evox as a dashboard to even run the trainer.  the other ones will allow you to use ANY dashboard.

Now alot of people have or had problems running the etm files..including myself..
but I got them to work fine..
so here is what made mine work.. NO OTHER OPTION works for me besides these..

ASSUMING YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED THE CORRECT TRAINER BASED ON THE REGION OF THE GAME YOU ARE USING IT ON!!!   meaning PAL trainer on PAL game NTSC on NTSC!!  THIS IS A MUST!  and is probably HALF of peoples problems.

Version 1.0
x2 4981 Bios TSOP FLASHED

evox 3935
TSR - NORMAL (I HAD TO TURN TO NORMAL I think it was off before)
IGR OFF (very wierd I assumed it needed to be on BUT MY BIOS HAS IT!
so I believe there was a conflict before when on.)

Hope this helps some people.

Did EVOX even make a Ninja Gaiden trainer yet?

Also.. your last thread points to I-NINJA   not ninja gaiden... (just making sure you are not thinking I-Ninja trainer is the Ninja Gaiden trainer)

GAME REGION 2  ???   NTSC??  I believe NTSC is region 1  isn't it?
Just make sure your trainer is NTSC and your game region is the same.

I know there has been a "mainstream" one released where you rename the default.xbe file in the game to GAME and the trainer to default.xbe...

For those to work ...  turn IGR OFF and TSR off

Maybe that will help...

I really do not know why so many people have problems... I have done this to many many machines and don't have any problems anymore...pretty strange there are sooo many differences.

Well from what it looks like.. the trainer works but is I guess not as easy as just not dying..  you must use or buy unlimited elixor's  etc etc.. to stay alive.. however whatever you purchase you must have the correct amount of money .. you can just purchase unlimited amounts of it.

Next .. it seems it messes up the game in chapter 13 if you use 2 of the options together... also if you have already played to that point where you cannot go any further.. then you must start over from last save.

I have not tried this trainer yet.. because I do not have the patience to see if it is working.. I don't know anything about the game.. and since it is free money type of trainer .. it would probably take a little bit of playing to figure out if it is working.

I would try a "easier" game..  meaning one that has a trainer like Invincibility.. and just turn that option on.. and see if you can get it working.. on ONE game..
such as state of emergency..  if you get one working.. then ALL should work.. and if they do not, then you know it is the trainer and not your box.

you need to upgrade evox/add Item "Trainers",ID_trainer to evox.ini.

Now for my question.  All I see in the trainer option is "Sorry Trainers".  The evox readme does not cover this issue.  Do I need to upgrade my bios?

i added a new folder called trainers and placed under c:. this is where the trainer.etm files go correct?

I am rebooting my xbox to seem if it takes affect. brb
ok after rebooting under my main menu i get Trainers, but accessing it displays nothing.

So i am at a stopping point and doing research on this.

I wouldn't know about the UDE release...just to be I'd recommend you download the current EvoX from xbins, release 3935, I'd also move the root folder for EvoX onto the C partition and make sure you backup your current DB.  Since I'm still a noob and all that's really the only thing I can suggest atm.
Title: Noob Guide To Trainers
Post by: KingDing-a-Ling on July 03, 2004, 10:26:00 AM
That's just a suggestion, but that'd be the first thing I would do.  I just had a problem error code 21 while going back to ms db...just reinstalled EvoX and C and E partition my system modder gave me as a backup.  If you have a C/E partition backup, I'd suggest that too...but be cautious, the T and UDATA dirs will be replaced, erasing music up to a point, or if you didn't backup on the system itself (which I failed to do).  If you haven't already, go to #xbins on EFnet

My trainers only work when i select IGR ON
if i select OFF all the trainers dont work.

and the shit part is that many games need IGR OFF to work on the xbox hard disk.
that leaves me without trainers.

im using xecuter2 lite and formated the HD with slayers 2.5.

any idea how to fix this problem?

Does the dashboard have to be in C\ drive? I've moved mine to F: and i cant seem to get my trainers to work. I remember them working in C before but i'd rather not move it back there.

IGR - no
TSR - normal

When i try loading up a game, the dashboard just freezes at the loading screen and wont proceed. It loads up the other games i did not enable trainers just fine though.

Can someone please explain, in plain english, wtf a trainer is?

Lucied,

Your problem is that you are creating the 'Trainers' directory in the wrong place. Cretae it under E:\Dashboard\ instead. You will find that now it is working.

Ok, i read and re-read the entire thread in front of my xbox and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the 'trainers' menu item in the dash...

Tried TSR and IGR setting combinations... no luck. checked evox.ini which says:

Section "Root"
{
#   Item "Launch DVD",ID_Launch_DVD
#   Item "Trainers",ID_trainer

and so on...

read EvolutionX..Id 3935.nfo which tells me

 EvolutionX Main Features List                                   ?
     ?                                                                   ?
     ?     - MS Dashboard Replacement                             ?
     ?     - Build in FTP Server                                         ?
     ?     - Configurable Menu System                                    ?
     ?     - Flash BIOS utility                                          ?
     ?     - Upgrade Harddisk and Format/Partition easily                ?
     ?     - Create game backups                                         ?
?     - Build in Trainer menu system

and still no trainers menu.

Can someone please help?
In case it matters (it probably does) all the evox files are in C:/, and trainers are in C:/Trainers

Remove the # in front of the 'Item "Trainers",ID_trainer' tag and reboot.  You should then see the Trainers option in your menu.  Then read the rest of this thread.

Good Luck.

Hi, I'm an extreme noob when it comes to modding and all that. I had to take my xbox to a place to get a chip stuck in. I'll be getting a CD from my friend which has the evo-x dashboard in it, which'll install itself into my xbox (I'm not bothered to do the wiring thing just to save my save games and all that other crap, I just want to get the dashboard and I'll willingly start from scratch with my games) but I wanted to ask, how do I install trainers via use of CD's? Will I be able to access this C:/ thing, or will I need to do it using a PC? I want to just copy all the trainers that I get from the internet, including skins and whatnot, using a CD. Is that possible? If so, what are the steps to doing that? (and please do remember, I'm a noob, I went through a couple of previous posts on chips and bios and stuff and understood nothing)

I have an aladdin mod chip (after going through a couple of posts I realized there's more than one kind, but I don't know what kind I have, but I'm sure the dashboard should be able to install itself. My friend has an xecutor chip). I'll be installing the dashboard soon, but I want to know how to add trainers using CD's, and if its possible to update my dashboard using CD's (screw the save games, it's not like I won't replay the whole thing just to get there again).

Thanx in advance for any help.

stickied posts are supposed to be HeLPfuL

mods:  you should weed out useless posts, and combine useful posts high up in the thread that way "noobs" or anyone else needn't spend hours reading through "me too" and "what about" and "edit oh I fixed it" posts.

this post itself is such an example but need not be merely deleted if the other thread housecleaning isn't done.

I think that the most overriding key to success to using trainers within evolution x is to modify the .ini file within your evolution x data files, to tsr type = 1 and enable igr, and save that .ini file. Then burn a new evolution x disk (I use a cd-rw for rewriteability) with these .ini changes. Boot the evolution x disk and those changes should be obvious in system utils and settings. Then enable the trainer and launch dvd. I think that a lot of the problems people are having with this subject is that they think they have made those changes but those changes revert to saved default upon reboot or launch. If you make these changes by going into evox settings and changing them with the controller on the xbox those changes will not be permanent enough for the trainers. Those changes will not be saved in other words. Those changes will not stick. Obviously this post is for people who are booting evox from cd instead of the hard drive but there might still be useful information here for those other users. Earlier today I couldn't get the trainers to work until my friend figured it out - make those changes above and you may very well be able to use trainers like I am now! Later!

Settings for Evox V3935

To use trainers youl need to change some settings in your "evox.ini" file

Default settings

TSR_Type   = 0 "0 = Disabled 1 = Enabled 2 = Debug"
IGR = No "No = In game reset disabled Yes = In game reset enabled"

So lets see If we want to use trainers we first need to enable TSR_Type so set this too 1 and if you plan on makeing your own trainers youl need to set this too 2 and also set this to Yes

[Telnet]

Enable = No "No = Telnet disabled Yes = Telnet enabled"

IGR is not needed to use trainers this is to simply reset the xbox without haveing to get up and do it manualy.

Thats it if your still haveing problems and have your TSR_Type set too 1 or 2 then the problem is not with your evox.ini file its something else unless you modified your evox.ini file and mybe messed something up but if its the default settings then you should be fine.

hope this helps out those with the newest version of evox 3935

seems like everything in your setup is in order. i have the same settings, 'cept mine is NTSC and i haven't had a trainer not work yet. check your f: (or g:) drive and make sure there isn't another trainers folder. for some reason, the slayers 2.6 disk put a folder named trainers on each of those drives.

btw . . . where'd you score a forza trainer already?

OK, a trainer question that has NOT been asked yet!

I have an HDTV (Sony 42in LCD) & I have my xbox set up with csomponent cables. When I try to use trainers, it loads back to the evox menu. BUT, if I go into the MS Dash & put my video settings as Normal (instead of widescreen) & answer NO to 480p, 720p, & 1080i (instead of YES) it works perfect! Are Trainers compatible with HDTV output?

Thanks!

Hi, I tried everything possible written in this topic, and I still can't get the Halo2 trainer to work. I have the latest Evox on my box (softmodded) but I nstalled it to E drive. But the trainers have to be on C drive correct? So I copied the trainers folder and put it in C drive, and nothing works. What am I doing wrong?
*

If you use Krayzies put it in E:/dashboard/Trainers/whetever.etm
For the halo2 trainer, if you did the update try the halo2 v1.1 trainer, "sorry trainers" means there is no trainers in folder, FTP them in there (unzipped). the Trainer folder goes where you evox dash is,if your evox is in C put there. TSR, iGR, and game region are all in the evox settings menu.

Wow, after reading through that whole thread, I saw noone give this advice, as it was the first thing that was said to me when I first had trainer problems:

NO MORE THAN 1 TRAINER ENABLED AT ANY GIVEN TIME

Also, to all the people who say that if you change the settings in EvoX it won't stay that way unless you edit the ini file.... You're liars.... All you have to do is change what you want to, then either use the EvoX menu to reboot, or shutdown the Xbox.
That's what I've found in my many hours of trail and error testing.  And I was just reading this thread wondering if anyone had any helpful hints on creating trainers before I create a program that should be a lifesaver to many trainer creators/wannabe's....

If I were you I'd get the Xored Mini ETM launcher 2.2 from maxconsole forums.

If using evox check the settings:

TSR - ON

IGR = Off

also try different games Not just the same one (some games have different versions)

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. I was just wondering if there is a program that I can use to manage the trainers on my xbox from my pc. I have a lot of trainers on my xbox that I will likely never use, but many of them are not named by what the trainer is for. I would just delete them all and install the ones that I know I'll use, but that's more work then it's worth.

Could someone please point me in the right direction? I have done some searching but I've come up with nothing.

OK guys, I have a problem here regarding trainers. I recently upgraded my HDD from retail 8GB to 80GB one and used AID v4.50 for formatting it, installing new dashboard and apps and stuff.
Now the C: drive is of 700MB with 339MB free and E: drive is of 5GB with all the apps and the XBMC dashboard installed on it. the F: drive is of 70GB and here is where the games are.
C drive is empty in a way as exploring it boXplorer shows these items only:

   1. Audio
   2. fonts
   3. xboxdashdata.185eadd00
   4. xodash
   5. evoxdash.xbe
   6. XBox Book.xtf
   7. Xbox.xtf
   8. xboxdash.xbe

There is no C:\Trainers or EvoX.ini for that matter. Is FTPing the XBOX to the PC is the only way to get the trainers? In the E drive where all the apps are, there is one app Xored Trainer Launcher and opening it just displays the image saying"Team Xored Presents ETM/XBTF Engine V2.2" and some names. Nothing actually happens here.
To escape it, I have to manually reboot the console as no button works and nothing responds.
However, under the Scripts, there are many and one is infact EvoxT-Trainers. Do I have to use this one for my trainer purposes? If yes then please gimme a lil' nudge in the right direction.
