Title: Skin Size?
Post by: Masamune on August 15, 2004, 06:39:00 AM
Well, i always use 640x480 pixels/inch. (72-120dpi)
No more is required, even if you use a diffrent image size. the skin will be automaticlly resized.

However if if your using an image that is 1024x768 (for example), then the final result will turn out to be crap.

So my advice would be: Image: 640x480 & 72-120 dpi.

How can you have more DPI on an image without increasing/decreasing it's size?  Make the image 640 pixels wide, and 480 pixels high.  I don't know where the hell you got DPI from...

(wich means Dots per Inch)

So we use dots/inches instead of Pixels now?  dots is referring to ink dots from your printer.

QUOTE

Try printing an image in 72 dpi & another one in 120dpi & you should see a huge diffrent. (The picture will not be in any way increased in size, it will stay the same size.) (the only thing that will increse is the file size & resolution)

If the resolution changes, so does the general image size (NOT THE RATIO).  Evox doesn't support High-Def TV's, it stays at a normal size.  Anything above 640x480 for a skin will be resized to that size in Evox.

For a "leet" guy, you sure do know the difference from a pixel on a monitor to a dot of ink on a piece of paper...

So, in closing:
DPI IS ONLY USED WHEN PRINTING THE IMAGE
NOT IN EVOX
YOU DO NOT USE DPI IN EVOX

ok, so i'm in the same boat, so i'll continue this thread

i do not have photoshop, and i've been trying to use paint to basically crop and add solid colors as fillers around the edges of the pics.

i would now like to make my skin pics "640x480"(?) with high resolution. i thought that the box would work like my desktop and auto resize. therefore very large pics 1024X768 would resize and have good quality, compared to a smaller pic stretched to fit.

what "free" programs are good for resizing? and can you give me the cheat sheet settings for the perfect evox skin using that program?

thanks

my next step is paying someone to make these pics look good in evox, i'm so tired of crappy skins
