Title: Convert (unreliable) Modchipped Xbox To Softmod?
Post by: ldotsfan on July 13, 2008, 05:35:00 AM
Strictly speaking, the thread is not evox related. Head for the no-modchip forum's XBE exploit subforum pinned topics. You'll need kingroach's ndure 3.1 to create the softmod files on the PC. Then with the chip on, ftp the files over to C and E drive. Turn off chip and see if it brings up evox. If it does, you can then remove your modchip. An extra safety measure is to backup your eeprom to PC. By the way, all softmods require a locked hdd to work so make sure yours is locked before you remove the chip permanently.

I read the tutorial for Ndure and think i pretty much know what i need to do, but I have a few things i want to clear up before i start anything.
Do I need to back up my C and E drives before trying this?
When I ftp the created C and E drives do i overwrite the old C and E completely or add the files from my created CE to the existing?
Thanks!

After looking through what i need to do for Ndure I see that it says that I should have the 5960 MS Dash. I'm not sure that I have that new of a dash. However, I read that auto-installers usually upgrade the dash to 5960, so would that be a better alternative to ftping directly to my Xbox?

Backup first then delete C, as for E, files can be added. Ndure's is designed to work like this:
msdash 5960 on C + Ndure's files on C, original E files + Ndure's files on E.
