Title: Autostart Xbmc. Pro Help Needed Plz.
Post by: Tiawaz on June 17, 2008, 06:09:00 AM
Greetings,
This is my second post. i'm actually quite thankful that this forum actually helps out it's members instead of just flaming them into submssion... anyways, here's my question.

I followed the guide here:
http://lifehacker.com/software/geek-to-liv...nter-299809.php

1. I have my files backed up, and moved the backups off to a DL-DVD and stored in a safe place.
2. I Installed the softmod
3. Installed EvoX
4. Installed XBMC
5. Restarted and Poof, I've been playing with it and configuring stuff so that it looks good since about 8pm.

I've gotten the hang of adding sources, and organizing my stuff the way I like it. The only thing that's pissing me off is when i turn on the system, I actually have to go to applications, and click on XBMC. I was wondering if there was a way someone could direct me to a walkthru, or help type up a walkthru for an "N00b". so i can get this thing to autostart and boot right into XBMC.

followed the instructions on the site to the letter, and I'm very happy with my XBOX - MC. I would just like it to autostart to XBMC.

Thanks in advance.

Is the Evox dashboard booting from the E:\Dashboard folder? If so, follow this. If not, you will need to adjust where you are renaming files.

On the PC there are two files in the XBMC _tools folder. You will need SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe and SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg.

FTP these two files to the E:\Dashboard folder.

The following steps are critical that you do not lose power to the Xbox.

You will be working in the E:\Dashboard\ folder.

Rename default.xbe to Evox.xbe.

Rename SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe to default.xbe.

Rename SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg to default.cfg.

The SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg that you renamed default.cfg is set to look for - E:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe

If your XBMC isn't in that path, you will need to edit the cfg file to look in the proper place.

Check everything over to make sure you have all the right files in the E:\Dashboard folder. You should have:

Default.cfg
Default.xbe
Evox.Xbe
Evox.ini
\Skins\ folder

That is the minimum. There may be others.

Now you can reboot the Xbox and you should have XBMC as the dash.
