Title: Evox Ini Help!
Post by: xzinkx on February 19, 2007, 05:39:00 AM
i replaced my evox ini file on my c drive with a evox ini file i got of a xbox game dvd because i thought it would finally get trainers working on my xbox. now ive only got 2 options when i boot up evox.

luckily i backed up the original ini on to the root of my f drive
i used dvd2xbox for my file browsing. but i dont have access to it anymore because i cant access any programs
on my evox dashboard

can anyone recommend me a simple boot disc with a file browser or a way to find out my xbox ip adress without the help of evox?

(lol ive got a trainer menu option now but lost verything else) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

thanks for yor help!!

You can use CASH to fix it. It sounds like your running one of SID's softmods maybe due to the evox files being on C. You can put CASH in and rebuild the drive (just FTP anything you want to save over) and change your dashboard and programs afterwards if you want. Plus you get to upgrade to a better softmod (Krayzies Ndure v1.1.1).

Or if you had the game you softmodded it with you can use that to access the gamesave and once you launch the gamesave you will have FTP access to fix things.

EDIT: Most of that is assuming your softmodded (sorry, lol, thought I saw this in the softmod section). If your not you can just make a boot disc or use Slayers or AID for a boot disc. To create a boot disc you need to use the the dash folder you want (example is the the "DVD2XBOX" folder that holds all of DVD2XBOX's files). Change the .xbe to "default.xbe" then create and XISO with Qwix (Qwix is very easy to use and works very well) and burn it to a disc.

I would follow Cerealkilla's advice.

If you don't, you can go into the settings menu, which should still be an option on the menu and select Evox settings. That will show you the current IP address.

I have a free program, but can't find where I got it from. It is called checkip.exe. It will search your network and tell you what other IP addresses are in use. Very helpful at times.

Here is a page where you can get CheckIP from. http://www.juphys.ernet.in/~soup/software/software.html

I am having the same problem, however I did not change anything or add anything to my xbox.   It has worked just fine up until this morning where I know only have access to a couple of things on my dashboard and the emulators, but no access to the games, dvdtoxbox, the media center and what have you.  I'm not an expert at this, but i'm not stupid, can someone give me some advice.

thanks.. il try some of those things but il also give you a bit more info..

my xbox is modchipped. xecuter 2.6 i think

there are only 2 menus on my evox

burnout 3 supernos edition (text is in red and menu is unselectable)
game trainers (selectable contains a midnight club trainer)

the .xbe in the dvd2xbox folder i downloaded on my computer is already called default.xbe so i dont understand why it does not boot up when i burn an iso (have tried with media flag patch applied and not applied)

If you have a mod chip, you should be using Slayer's or AID to gain access. Both will give you an IP address. If the file isn't being read, you may need to use different media. Try a CD-RW or a DVD. Make a dummy file to put on the CD so that it is large enough for the Xbox to pick it up. Here is how to make a dummy file.

Make a "dummy" file of about 4 GB and create another ISO but this time include the dummy file in the ISO. It doesn’t matter what you name the dummy file. To make a dummy file copy and paste or type (whatever suits) this into command prompt in windows XP:

fsutil file createnew d:\temp\4gbDummyFile.txt 4194304000

That is for a DVD. For a CD, take off the zero at the end to make a 400meg file.

I need to find the person that wrote those instructions so I can give credit.

Take a look at the pinned topics. There are some posts there on rebuilding the evox.ini file. If you still need help, start your own post so we can concentrate on your problem.

Thanks for all your help.. fixed the problem last night .. downloaded a boxplorer.iso file extracted it with xiso then put in a large dummy file and rebuilt the iso and burnt it. Booted up on my xbox fine

one thing puzzled me though..i looked at the evox.ini file in c drive (the bad one, short in terms of writing)
then i looked at my backup on my f drive (which is a lot longer in terms of more characters)

the bad was 17 kb but my backup was only 3kb how does that work out lol

also for all my isos under 700mb i have to use dummy data on them because nero forces me to write isos under 700mb on to cd/rw (wich my xbox cannot read anymore). why cant i write small isos on big dvds?

thanks for all your help and support (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Because Nero is close to total garbage? wink.gif

Use Imgburn.
