All homebrew is on xbins and is free (or what you need to get it is on xbins).

How is it 'buggered'?

sorry that wasnt the most technical description he was trying to do somthing to XBMC i think he changed a file name the problem is before it used to load slayers evox page and then he changed a file name and now its gone back to the old xbox main page
