I just got a Panasonic hdtv projector and overall it looks fantastic. I heard that some games are widescreen, e.g. HALO 2. Well can not get any game into widescreen mode. Avaulaunch, MS dash, and xbmc all work well in widescreen nicely in 720p 16:9 aspect ration, but it seems all the games, 12 on my disk, are in 4:3 ratio. Any help would be is appreciated. Thanks.

You have to change the settings in the MS dash. <

Also, for 480i or 480p widescreen, you'll probably have to manually choose the correct widescreen mode on your HDTV as well. It will auto detect widescreen for 720p and 1080i as it is part of that mode, but it may not know if your 480i or 480p signal is widescreen automatically. Of course, if everything looks tall and narrow, that should be your first clue that your XBOX is outputting widescreen, but your TV is displaying it as 4:3. <

Halo 2 is one of those funny games when it comes to widescreen... the game is widescreen capable, but the HUD doesn't get resized for the new aspect ratio. So you get your view as 16:9, with a 4:3 hud. If you have widescreen enabled, the game will look a little funny in 4:3 - switch to 16:9 and everything but the HUD should look fine.
There are a lot of games out there that don't support widescreen, just like there are a lot that don't support 720p or 1080i... search around a little and you'll find a list of which games support what. <
