Title: Any Other Way To Transfer Files?
Post by: CattyKid on September 18, 2005, 07:10:00 PM
Yeah, but most likely not from CD-Rs.  Try CD/RWs or DVD-Rs.  They are the most compatable.  Yeah, you could use Avalaunch, or any variety of file managers.  Check either the software or tools page to find apps like Boxplorer and stuff.

Nevermind, boxplorer looks like it will do the trick!

You also might be able to use a USB flash drive, in Linux if need be.  But, that is adventurous (and 1337).

You need to make an ".Xiso" instead of an .Iso ... look for the program "Simple Xiso" to do this, pretty easy to find, then make the iso w that prog putting your boxplorer files in the main part of the cd (as in not in a directory) that way boxplorer will load when you boot the disc (Also making sure its named default.xbe and not boxplorer.xbe or something else, as your xbox only looks for default.xbe when booting).
Then put whatever other files you want on that disc in folders and burn your disc.. as far as what discs are compatible, it totally depends on your dvd-rom in your xbox, you can search around for more on that based on the kernel version of your box..

I've been using Qwix to make the xiso.  Now I've tried Memorex CDrs, and DvDrws.  Neither have been read by Evox.  It still just says no disc.  Do I need to get some new media to try?  I have a samsung, I thought that it would read that.  Or is there something I need to setup on EvoX to get it to boot an xbe from a CD?

One more suggestion to try..
Instead of having the dics run Boxplorer,
try having EvoX  on the disc as the default.xbe,
then make sure you have a line item in the .ini file pointing to boxplorer on your disc..
also if you have boxplorer on the HD it wouldnt hurt to have a line item pointing to that version also (just in case, better to overkill)
