The M$ dashboard -> Settings -> Audio, doesnt give me any other options than mono/stereo/dolby digital. After what I read, I should be presented for the DTS/DD option? "Sound output" in XBMC are set to analog and greyed out. Avalaunch-settings showed DTS/DD to be disabled and when I tried to change this I were told that the EEPROM didnt support writebacks. Though in a later option I could allow this and then enable DTS/DD but still no games or DVDs would recognize the signal (my receiver says digital but no dts/dd).
I read somewhere in this forum that the xbox needs to "see" the A-V pack to present that DTS/DD options - could this be why I cant get nothing to work?

well, heres an idea. all that the pack does to enable the output is jumper a few wires. so if you opened it up, you might be abel to see if a wire has come off or something.
can we get a pic in here of what should be jumpered in his case? that'd help and be easier then buying a new unit

Great idea - if someone didnt mind opening their Advanced A/V pack and post a picture of the board, it would be great.
I have opened mine and the wiring looks connected - just need to know what triggers the DTS/DD recognition.
I thought of soldering the TOSlink transmitter off and solder it directly to the xbox motherboard (with help from the guides under tutorials) but I need the capacitator and I have some doubts if this will enable DTS/DD (its just 3 wires, if my 3rd party box dont work, why should this?).

I had decided to move the optical port to the motherboard but when I looked at schematics, I saw that you have to shortcut different pins to enable modes. This tutorial showed you have to ground pin 18 - I plugged my 3rd party A/V pack into the xbox and measured. As one would have guessed, it wasnt! After grounding if, I now can select DTS/DD \o/ - (http://xbox-scene.com/articles/digital-output.php)
