Title: Gta: San Andreas Problems
Post by: Master X on June 16, 2005, 07:33:00 PM
All you need to do is go to system settings and put your region as only NTSC if that doesnt work then you need to do this.

You need to edit the evox.ini

You can find the evox.ini in the C: right click on evox.ini and then edit then do this:

open your evox.ini and edit the following values:
TSR_Type =1
GameRegion = 1
also add:
DebugTSR = No
this will give you real ntsc mode and the game should work.

This is found towards the top of the .ini file. Just open it up with note pad and look for the settings they said to look for and change it, its right there for ya to edit!! Good luck

I think I have an older version of evo-x.  But I have no "TSR-Type" in my .ini file.  I do have a "GameRegion" and I changed that to 1.  I recenlty made XBMC my dash and I can't figure out how to get back to evox to make the settings changes through there.  Any help would be appreciated.

hey, I have the PAL version of GTA SA and have heard you need to patch the default.xbe is this true or does someone want to break my beloved Xbox. also

with this:

TSR_Type =1
GameRegion = 1
also add:
DebugTSR = No

this gives me NTSC , well I have PAL, does this matter???

I bet no one knows....

Yeah you want GameRegion=4.
Also might want to patch the region of the XBE if it isnt region 4 and still doesnt work.

Just a quick question (probably dumb), if I modify the .ini file to play GTA SA, would I be able to play a PAL game without having to put everything back the way it was?

I have gotten this fixed.  I submitted a patch to the dvd2xbox author in the form of an acl and ppf file set.  The acl just calls the ppf file and it will patch it so that TSR mode can be on.

http://shinji.chaosnet.org/x-s/54540082.zip

This file has 2 ppf files.  The one with avfix in the name will only apply the av region patch.  The other one does both the av region patch and the hdd fix and should only be applied to an original default.xbe file.  They can be applied using ppf-o-matic or the main ppf file can be patched in during dvd2xbox ripping using the associated acl file too.

It must be a fluke that some people can get it to work with TSR mode on and some cannot.  I was one of those that could not.  This was the only way to make it work with that mode on.  Obviously turning off TSR mode would make the game work but then I couldn't use the trainer for the game :(

just a quick note as i can't understand this myself but rumor has it there is a pal ntsc and rip off version now i have the retail pal and could not get it to work with any patches and had to use the evox.ini way round it but borrowed the ntsc off a mate who imports them again retail and this did not work either region version different lol and the last vewrsion i got was a download which work only with the patch ? as i had the retail pal and paid i wanted this one else  waste of money i read on here somewhere a guy had the defult.xbe file he emailed this to me and it works with my pal copy ! so as far as i can make out there are 3 versionsand god knows how may patches lol rockstar keeps us guessing but its mainly the game reigion as if i boot any off dvd they all work??? well i might get to the bottem of it one day but it works now! thanks to steve for the xbe that got my retail dvd-hd version working! :beer:

Have you even tried my patch above?  It works with the ntsc version but is really meant for the pal version.  The AV Region Fix that was in the patch allows it to work on all xbox regardless of the region it is set to.  This also had the side effect of allowing the ntsc version to also boot with TSR mode on in evox.  So it should work the same on both versions.  I havn't tested with the retail pal version but I know it works with the retail ntsc version.

You need a soft modded xbox or a hard modded Xbox. If you have that then all you need to do is put the burnt game in the disk drive.
