Hi,
When I was going to transfer some music from my computer to my Xbox today I got allot of "unable to transfers" just because the filename was too long. I got a version 1 xbox with DuoX2 (excuter 2?) chip that runs the latest EvoX version with some apps like Avalunch, XBMP etc. Don't really know if this is the right forum, but I guess it has something to do with Evox, am I right? So, why can't the filenames be longer then 42 characters? I mean, allot of music files are the double of that, so why this limit on 42? Is there anyway I can change this so it will accept more?
Thanx in advance!

This is because of the FAT-X filesystem on the xbox, which is controlled at a bios level - it has absolutely nothing to do with EvolutionX.
the best thing to do is to get hold of one of the various programs out there that you can use to cut down the filenames to under 48 charecters before transferring

Yeah I did that, but it sucks to have filenames where i.e. only the artist(s) name is displayed and not the whole filename including the song name. But if it's hardware/bios configuration then I'll guess I have to live with it, ain't touching that with a ten foot pole... thanx for the info though!

or you can easily have a folder with the artist name and inside the mp3s with just the song name, at least, that's what I do and it makes it easier
