Title: Ftp Problem
Post by: C5complete on December 15, 2004, 06:42:00 PM
My ftp was working fine, had no prpblems.  I had not ftp'ed to my xbox in a few months.  I tried to connect and got no host found.  I put my trusty evox disk (witch i know works) in so i can ftp and fix things, still no host found.  Next i unplugged the network cable from the back of the xbox and plugged it into my laptop to make sure it isnt a cable gone bad.  Laptop connects right up.  Does anyone know if M$ has done somthing to prevent my xbox from picking up an ip address froim my router(dhcp).  My setup is as follows:

xbox v1.0
excuter 2.3b lite
bios 4977
120g hard drive
evox 3935
Dlink 713p router

This setup has worked flawlessly for over a year till now.

Thank you for any insight.

Wow, tough question

If your using EvolutionX make sure you do these things before anything else

Check your evox.ini file, whether it's on your CD or on the harddrive

Make sure Static IP is set to NO

Next

Your IP could have changed

Boot up evolutionX from your trusty CD (as long as Static IP=No)
Now, under system utilities, settings check for the IP Address in BLUE
It should be one of the top IP addresses

IP should read something like..... 192.168.1.104

If the IP did in fact change, check your FTP settings, and change them

Hope I helped

uhm... my static ip is set to yes and it works just fine. ;)

one thing to check is your network settings on your pc.. i had the same problem yesterday and when i went into network settings i noticed that somehow my link to xbox had been disabled.

Did you recently install winxp sp2?  Or did it recently install itself?

Sure, static IP may work for YOU but for noobs it's much easier to use a non static IP so the connection will be easier

that has nothing to do with "microcrap"...
paste an ipconfig /all here when everything is connected and enabled and I'll tell you how to configure it without disabling anything.
