You're not crazy ni-t-x, I have same configuration + same problems.

Evox 3935 & Aladdin Advance +.

Can't launch apps from dashboard, freezes at green 'evolution x' logo screen.

Hold down power for five seconds, LED flashes orange/green to indicate write mode enable, but Evox can't access bios.

Nice troubleshooting step with swapping in a workin HDD. I created an Evox boot CD with /APPS. They load when booted on another Xbox/Chip (executor) combo, but hang on mine just like when loading from HDD. I don't think this is HDD related, looks to be an EvoX & Aladdin conflict.

Have you tried an older version of Evox, that's my next step..

Okay, I've identified the problem!

I was told the Aladdin Chip is only truely active when the power button is depressed. If you Power on the Xbox, and continue to hold the power button on, programs under /APPS folder launch as per normal. Once the app is launched you can release the power button and it continues to function.

As for a long term fix, I'm investigating how to configure the Aladdin Advance + to be always ON...

Anyone got any clues?

That is how the aladdin was designed.. so you can still use your original bios or switch to whatever other dash you want. If you just wanted a plain mod chip without the option to switch on or off you should have got a cheap $10 x-box executor-2 chip.

The answer to this problem turned out to be more about hardware then the EvoX dashboard so I posted the fix in the Alternative Modchips section of the forums.

I doubt you will find Slayers is the cause, you need to configure the Aladdin to be always on.
