i just to yake some of the songs from my games and put them on my pc can it be done

I would like to follow up on his question. I'm interested in the music track from Burnout 3, my idea is if you own the game, then you should in turn own the rights to the music on the game ( makes sence ). Also there is no direct directory where I can notice the songs stored, I'm thinking they are extracted at run time to one of the cache drives. I haven't look deeply yet to find them, but if found would they just be in the .wma format? and if so couldn't they just be extracted (ftp) and listened to like that ( or converted to your favorite format .mp3 .wav ) and used further from there?

This is just my idea...  Anyone with more information please comment.

Hi - usually theyre wrapped in the companies internal format.

This is because the file system + drive deals better with single open files as it doesnt have to continually seek from the table of contents to seperate files over and over.

Usualy the format is of one huge file in which other smaller files are contained, so its likely the music is dumped into one of these singular files.
If this is the case, you need a program that can read whatever format the file is in. Usually that is internal to the developer so you cant get access.

Some games however do dump the sound files in  seperate folder - but again depending on the format the developer uses, you may or may not be able todirectly rip+play them

i had a quick look at b3

might be them

xSEX supports them but there is no xsb to open them.

you could just mute the sound fx and record the audio, not  the best quality unless you do a digital rip, but i'm sure the would be an easier way.

EDIT: it copys nothing to the cache drives.

Crash Nitro Cart is another game that just uses WMA's you can download right to the PC. Now I can cruise around in my ride with the sounds of Crash Nitro, but I usually get pulled over for throwing stuff out the window and running into other cars knocking people off the road. laugh.gif

Some games have them zipped in archives like DAT or XMW files. So you need to find a tool that can extract them. Then usually they can be transfered to PC and played. ph34r.gif

Anyone know of a tool that will extract XMW archives?

there is a link in here somewhere to a program called xwbextract. i have used it and it will extract the music from the burnout 3 game.

I am now wanting to find something that can extract or play *.ast files

I downloaded the .asf music files from fifa 2005 (on the xbox hard drive) to my laptop but windows media player won't play them. I then tried using some conversion programs to try and convert the .asf to .mp3 and it still won't work. Anyone have experience with this? I can see the individual song files on my computer but I can't play em.
