| i have a switch on my xbox to turn off the mod chip....the xbox works when the mod is on...but when i turn the mod off it gives me an error with the number 5 and tells me to contact xbox technical support....then the light on the ejector button flashes red and green....my question is...how do i get to the original dashboard with the mod chip off...? thank you guys! |
ok first things first, if you have a newer Xecuter Bios or newer EvoX Bios rename the files on the C:\ on your xbox to the following:
rename evoxdash file to: evoxdash.xbe
rename ms dash file to: xboxdash.xbe
this should fix your problem
i have xecutor 2..and how do i tell what version of evox i have?

okay im assuming you have an xecuter 2 chip, did you flash xecuters bios as well, either way you need to rename ur files. To do this:
1) FTP to your xbox
2) goto the C:\ of your xbox
3) you should see 2 .xbe files (one thats evox file and one thats xbox dash file)
4) rename the evox file to evoxdash.xbe
5) rename the xbox dash file to xboxdash.xbe
6) turn off xbox
7) turn on.......and your done!
actually i have no chip installed...like when the switch turns off the mod it goes to an error and shows a number 5 in the corner...hope that describes it///oh yeh when the mod is on..it works and goes straight to the evox dash
Erm... actually you just need to lock your hard drive.
It's been a while since I used Evox so either find out how, or burn a copy of Slayerz and use the HDD lock option.

dude, thats impossible, if you don't have a chip you can't install bios and dashboards.
And please, don't use slayers auto-installer, sorry if im offending anyone, I just don't like it personally IMO
Well, anyways, what I have described to you before is how you fix the problem easily.
Also, if your running a stock hard drive, then it dosen't need to be locked, since its already locked? Please someone correct me if im wrong about this
Good Luck!
how do i lock the harddrive?

i don't think you need to, unless you just installed a new (bigger) hard drive...I think
it wont let me lock the harddrive
i have a 160 gig harddrive...and it wont let me lock it

ok, that explains a lot. When you FTP to your xbox you should see a f:\ drive and a g:\ drive. Those .xbe files should be in the f:\
they are in the f drive....the only one thats working is the mod...but when i turn off the mod....it goes to that error

hehe sorry i dont understand a word u said....ok heres the deal....when the switch is on the mod side....it works perfectly fine....it goes straight to the evox screen...but when i turn off my xbox and put the switch to turn off the mod...it goes straight to the error 5 screen...make any sense? anyone know how to fix that?

right, I just explained to you whats happening, i know its kinda hard to understand. I'll make it simple for you.
when you have the switch on...this goes to the evox dash
when you have the switch off...this goes to error screen
reason: you named the evox dash file to what the xbox dash file should be named...any better?
oh.icee makes so much more sense...how do i fix it? =)

well, like i said:
1) FTP to ur xbox
2) go into f:\
3) rename xboxdash.xbe to evoxdash.xbe
4) rename msxboxdash.xbe(or whatever name u named it) to xboxdash.xbe
5) turn off xbox
6) turn on....should be fixed
wait i didnt quite understand step 4

its cool, the file thats named msxboxdash.xbe(this should be the original xbox file, also, if its not named msxboxdash.xbe, it should be similiar to that name.) Rename this file to xboxdash.xbe
The problem is that your hard drive is unlocked and therefore won't run any of the Xbox's non-modded stuff.
It has to be locked in order to do that.
It runs the Evox because Evox can run with an unlocked HDD. Profound, I know.
For one, check in Evox's menus for a HDD Lock/Unlock option. If it's not there, just make it easy on yourself and download/burn Slayerz, check the menus and find the HDD Lock/Unlock option.
If that doesn't work, make sure your hard drive is set to cable select, then try the above again.
If THAT doesn't work, ask around for how to properly install a hard drive with an exploit or whatever and/or how to fix your problem if you have one of those.
Also, the FAQ is usually helpful.
ok guys. first try the renaming the files. if that does not work then get a program called "config magic" (w/o quotes) and load that up. then select "lock HDD"
i have noticed that the option it has in the evox dashboard to lock the HDD does not work for me.
so get config magic if the renaming doestnt work.
and poopster? did the regular dashboard load when you had your original hard drive in?
