I like using WS_ftp it works for me
-
My problem isn't FTP, its the connection.
FlashFXP reports
Connection failed.
And if I try to ping I get
Request timed out and all packets are lost.
I need help to get the two devices too talk too eachother. Any suggestions about that since I cant FTP before i get them to cooperate?

Correct, stop shooting off FTP clients its a connection issue. I like your network setting, the look good. You do have manually specify ip settings set correct? Your pc could be getting its ip address from dhcp when its connected to the router. Go into tcp/ip properties and verify this. Also, is your nic set to auto-detect connection type? ie 100 or 10, full or half duplex? And one more thing to check, sorry to be redundent but your crossover cable should look like this.
Connector 1:
o/w o g/w bl bl/w g br/w br
Connector 2:
g/w g o/w bl bl/w o br/w br
Please reply your details.

Yes my NICs IP is manually specified. And both of my NICs has auto detect connection type. And my Crossed cables have the configuration you described.
Any suggestions?

What OS are you on?

Windows XP with Service Pack 1

post results:
ping localhost
ping 127.0.0.1
ping 192.168.0.200
also try disabling then re-enabling that adapter.
and with that same adapter in that computer you can connect to the adsl or anywhere else if you wanted? just not the xbox, is this correct?

ive allways ftp'd straight from pc to xbox with just a standard 100mbit rj45 crossover cable no router no nothing but like that make sure its a crossover cable not straight i made that one and was caffuffled!! for ages..

Try changing your default gateway to the internal IP of either the router or the PC (ex., change default gateway on the Xbox to 192.168.0.100 so that it sees that the PC is how it will communicate with the rest of the network).
I'd also recommend that you change your IPs for your network to 192.168.1.x (my router defaults to that) so that you can separate your router from your internal network.

if 192.168.0.200 is the ip of the nic you are even pinging from and that is timing out try this command at a command prompt:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
and if it isn't too long post what is in resetlog.txt here.

my xbox does the same sometimes - i find the best solution is to power up the other kit first and then power up the xbox
hope it helps
