Title: Ms Dashboard
Post by: cribby08 on May 23, 2003, 10:54:00 PM
I know this might sound stupid to 99% of you guys but every time I select "MS Dashboard" on Evox 1.8.3752 it just says "loading" and then just goes back to the original evox screen.  I would like to get the ms dash to manage my saves and stuff, I know there are other ways I could do that I just wanted the MS Dashboard function to work.  Thanks.

make sure your MS dashboard is called msxboxdash.xbe and make sure your evox.ini points to that file.

actually you can have the xboxdash.xbe named whatever you want so long as it is specified in the evox, ini so when you choose the link to load the evox dash, you will have to make sure that whatever the file is named is the file that is specified to be loaded

the above post is true; however, best practice is not to name the msdash "whatever" if one ever wants to turn the mod chip off. Stick with msxboxdash.xbe.

I just tried that but when I select "MS Dashboard" I get an error with code 21.  Maybe I am doing something wrong.  I am using an x2 pro with only the 4th switch on.

Thanks for the help.

if one want to turn off the modchipo then the proper naming would be xboxdash.xbe

If you are going to correct people or give advice, please try to give correct advice

keep the xboxdash called xboxdash.xbe and call evox dash evoXdash.xbe..

the bios will pick it up so why not use the feature...

Does the 7352 bios automatically look for evoxdash.xbe?

I might be getting live soon and would like to name my original MS dashboard to xboxdash.xbe.  I'm afraid I won't be able to boot my xbox if I change my current xboxdash.xbe (EvoX executable) to evoxdash.xbe!!    :o  :(

Zig is 100% correct. For xbox live purposes, or turning off your chip, it should be named 'xboxdash.xbe' when you have the chip on though, with the newest X2 bios it automatically looks for 'evoxdash.xbe' first, then goes to 'xboxdash.xbe' yeah, pretty easy to understand.

Hello all,

I’m having a similar problem so I thought I’d continue in this thread instead of posting a new one.

I’m trying to set up my modded xbox so I can get Live latter and I’m getting the error 21.

I’ve an x2 pro chip, I’m running the X2 bios (I forgot the version but it boots evoxdash.xbe.) I have a 120gb hard drive, locked, and my xbox dashboard has NOT been upgraded to Live yet. My evox dashboard is “evoXdash.xbe” and the MS Dashboard is xboxdash.xbe.

When I boot with the modchip on all is well, evox boots and everything works. When I boot with it off I get error 21.

I’m kind of at a loss here, its seems I’ve done all I’m suppose to get the dual boot feature working, but well, 21 right?

I appreciate any responses up front, and apologize if this has been covered somewhere, but I couldn’t find it anywhere.

Thanks,

-Some dork
