Title: Quitting Out Of A Game Back To Evox
Post by: Xeero on May 21, 2003, 05:45:00 AM
I'm not sure which IGR you're activating as that button-combo can be used for both.  EvoX's IGR will reset the Xbox while X2's IGR will punt you straight to the dash.

just watch yourself, some games won't work right with the IGR option enabled in your evox ini file.

just as a heads up

depends on which IGR you are using.
X2's 4976-02 has a BIOS based IGR that lets you go back to the dash. This is reckoned to be more stable than the one in the Evox dash 3752 (just listing two most current versions) that also reboots the machine vs. putting you back to the dash. Both of them typically use L+R+option+start.

a lot of people keep the X2 IGR enabled and disable the Evox one for compatibility reasons.

i have a xecuter2 mod with latest evox dash - 3752.
what is the X2 IGR and how do you use it as opposed to using the evox IGR?

X2 Bios uses same combo as evolution-x (L+R + B+S)

Disable all IGR entries in evox.ini and the X2 IGR should work OK unless you disabled it.

This is the area that I get confused in. Correct me if I am wrong

There are two sorts of IGR:
Evox IGR
x2 BIOS IGR

Correct me if I am wrong, you need to put the file x2_IGR_disabled in the e: drive to disable it the X2 IGR for 4976.02 . And just disable evox IGR by going to all the IGR settings in evox.

From http://www.x111.com/...opic.php?p=8943

QUOTE

The IGR-function (In-Game-Reset) can be set on/off Evolution-X.
- The first IGR option can be found in the FTP section (of the settings).
- The second IGR option can be found in the RDTools section (of the settings).
- The last and probably most important IGR option can be found in the Misc section (of the settings).

I want max stability, should i turn all the IGR off (Evox and X2 bios)?

Thanks

Look at post above your dumb question.

Does IGR ring a bell?????

Just use latest X2 bios, disable all IGR entry's in evox.ini and press L+R+B+S for IGR.

So i am taking it most people use the x2 igr (stabler and to evox not total reset, assuming you have a x2 bios) or leave IGR off completly?

What is IGR and what is X2 Bios, you're confusing me, my friend fixed my system and im just asking. I have a slight clue about this technical lingo, just explain it a little better, I'm still new to this stuff. Also, answer my question on how I go back to dashboard when im already in a game, emulator, application, etc. Thanks.

I believe these questions have been answered many tiems over in this thread alone, but here you go.

IGR means in-game reset, which basically allows you to hop out of a game or an app and back to the dash board. The way to use it is to hit these four buttons at the same time; (L+R + B+S) (although I beleive you can configure it in Evox.)

Your modchip uses a BIOS to allow loading of evox and backup games. Team Exceuter built the IGR feature in to their latest BIOSes, most notably the X2 4976-02, which is the name of their latest BIOS. THe IGR fetaure is also built into the EvolutionX dashboard ver 1.8.3752 (the latest one).

As stated before, the IGR feature in the evox dash is by some considered to be less stable, and hence many people turn it off (three settings in the evox.ini file) and rely solely on the one in the X2 BIOS.

I hope this clarifies things.

I disabled all the evox igr's and tried to play a backup game off the hard drive.
When I performed the igr button combo the screen just went black.
What is going wrong here?

.

If I had to guess, you have a problem with the IGR...

Which game was it and have you tried it again? Does it happen when you are playing and when at the menu level in the game, etc. I'm sure Ubergeek would like to know.

If you dont know type it in search and you will come up with it. Otherwise FAQs. please dont ask questions like this when it is being discussed.

IGR is In game Reset, it allows you reset to the console/dashboard in a game. X2 bios is the Xecuter 2 BIOS that is probably the most popular

I'm confused, when I use L+R+Start+Back it restarts the game not go to the Dashboard, I feel it has something to do with this extra file you have to put into the E:| drive
Is this correct ??

I find that X2 reset is perfect in all my games and apps, keep the x2 reset on and the evox off (causes many crashes)

Ok you need to understand that these people are not getting paid to help YOU, they are not your little slaves you can just give demands to. That is what you definetly need to understand while you are in the scene.

As for this guys problem, i am having the same deal. It just resets the actual game and doesnt go to the dash. Appreciate any help.

I could have sworn this was answered in this thread let alone any tutorial around but....

to get to reset back to dash instead of restarting use the 4976.02 IGR instead of the evox implementation.
to do this first make sure your bios is 4976.02
then in the evox.ini there are 3 places to set IGR = No

that's it. then when you do IGR you'll be using it from the bios not from evox.
To disable in the bios if you ever want you put a file called x2_IGR_disabled on your e: drive

I understand hunting through tutorials can be painstaking and if someone knows and can just answer its easier but when the answer is in the same thread your posting the question in... i mean

dear god the pain never ends.

Lets get one thing straight here!, I am enternally greatful for all the advice, help, and other shit i have recieved here. Yes no one gets paid to help here neither do I, So please do not assume I'm ungrateful. And kindly refrain from making such comments like the one I have quoted, for that can lead to misunderstanding and arguments.

Penfoldian...
There was no misunderstanding or argument.  If you want to argue, go right ahead this will be my last post in this thread.  I say such things as 'dear god the pain never ends' when someone such as yourself asks a question that was answered in the posts directly above his/her question...
Not only was it answered, but even someone else with your apparent laziness asked a question already answered and he was replied to with:
"People are getting lazier by the minute

Look at post above your dumb question.

Does IGR ring a bell?????

Just use latest X2 bios, disable all IGR entry's in evox.ini and press L+R+B+S for IGR."

This yet again answers the question.  So it was answered at least twice, then you go and ask the same thing.  So either you're an idiotic n00b or an arrogant and lazy 'senior member'.  I could care less which.
