I don't want to network it, just attach ONE cable ( a crossover cable) so I can FTP files to it.

HAVE YOU even looked at the extensive tutorial links on xbox-scene.com ? This should help you out: http://evox.xboxhack...networking.html

How do I hook up a crossover cable to FTP the xbox? I have a laptop with a Network card, and I just want to directly connect it without buying anything. I'm pretty sure it can be done. I'm running Win98SE if that helps.

Attach crossover cable to laptop and xbox. In evox settings, change IP to manual and set an internal IP address i.e. 192.168.0.5, then save & exit. Run an FTP client on the laptop and ftp to the xbox (in this example 192.168.0.5) the username and password defaults to "xbox". Hopefully I haven't missed anything out, I'm working from memory.
