Title: Crossover Cable

You can either:
- buy a crossover cable
- buy a crossover adapter and use it with a patch cable
- make a crossover cable from a patch cable

I just made one from a patch cable using a pair of scissors, a soldering iron, and some electrical tape. It looks like absolute crap at one end, but it works just fine. Check the pinouts on http://www.gadgettech.org/rj45/

I HAVE the crossover cable, I just need to know how to set it up. Like what to edit in the EvoX ini and what settings on my laptop.

Attach crossover cable to laptop and xbox.

In evox settings, change IP to manual and set an internal IP address i.e. 192.168.0.5, then save & exit.

Run an FTP client on the laptop and ftp to the xbox (in this example 192.168.0.5) the username and password defaults to "xbox".

Hopefully I haven't missed anything out, I'm working from memory.

Thanks, will try. Do I need to set anything up on the Laptop, like a manual IP. Or would the info in the above link work?

You can't transfer files between two computers without them being networked. See the "setting up evox" tutorial for more detailed instructions on setting up ftp.

You'll need to ensure you have TCP/IP installed on the laptop. I would guess you have this set up already. I'd try those steps I listed and see how it goes.

By connecting your computer to your Xbox, via a crossover cable, you are attempting to set up a "network".
Check out the link I already pointed you to above, scroll down and find the situation that doesn't involve a router/hub, and follow the instructions.

Make sure to set your IP address as Static in Evox. You forgot that.
