When I try and prepare a hard drive to put in my xbox with the program, i get an error no.1117, drv:1 LBA:0 blocks:1....error writing drive at sector 00.  Anybody have any other ways of formatting and partitioning a hard drive to work in the xbox?
Peace

That method is way out of date.  Just download Slayers auto installer and use that, you don't even need to put your drive in your pc, everything is done using the xbox.

Error writing to sector 00 means bad track zero which means stuffed hard drive

Make sure the cables are plugged in correctly - Red wire to pin 1 for the IDE cable...

If the cables are attached correctly, then place the HD back into the PC and run a diagnostic program on the HD...

You can usually download diagnostics software from the manufacturer of the HDD...

You need to verify that the drive is not defective before you start using it...

Good Luck!

Thats the thing...this drive is my orginal Seagate Xbox hard drive.  I was trying to install XBMP, and when i rebooted, it came up with that 'xbox service' screen.  I tryed booting evox from a disk, but it still comes up with that screen, making it impossible to ftp my backup files onto the xbox.  So I figured I'd be able to hook my xbox hd up to my computor and change the files, but I can't explore the drive.  Diagnostics test it ok, except 2 tests couldn't run because the drive is password protected.  I've tryed formatting the drive with a maxtor utility (MaxBlast), but when i press start it's done in like 2 seconds and i don't think it actually does anything (possibly because of the password encryption).  The harddrive prepare utility says the error at sector 00 and doesn't do anything.  So am i left with a fancy seagate paper weight? I don't know how else to fix this drive.  Thanks for everyones help, too.

You wont be able to do anything with it unless you can unlock in on your xbox - using configmagic final.  It sounds like it's had it, if you have another drive you could use slayers disk to create a replacement.

Which error code is coming up in the "Xbox needs service" screen?  (It's a number in the upper left corner).

I'm having a similar problem as you are.  I keep getting error code 13.
