im sorry if this has come up, i did a search but didnt find anything. I just updated to a larger HD, slayers disc worked wonderfully, everything is great, except one thing. When i want to exit from a game or app lets say XBMP, i hit the button to exit to dash, and it resets the whole damn system. On my previous HD, with the same evox dash, i could exit from XPMP right to the dash. Anyone come across this? or know how I may go about fixing this? Thanks.

Thanks. | If you are using the IGR buttons on the controller to exit the XBMP or GAMES and the system reboots when doing this there is a fix for this. Well this is what I found to be the problem, this is related to the BIOS you are using and the EvoX, Evox as installed by the installer will have IGR in all places in the System Settings menu set to YES. and If the Bios your using has IGR built in like 4974 then there is a conflict, In my System Settings I set the IGR under MISC. to NO and left all other places set to YES. this cured the rebooting from games and XBMP for my system. give it a try and see if it helps your Xbox.

I can't get out of this screen. The x button brings up a picture of some chicks rad titties, and Y brings up all the shout outs. And thats all I can get. Plz help.
Mengsk |
If you have the complete Download as released by 1wolf1 (SlaYer) then you have 7 JPG's 2 NFO's and 1 ISO file. when the installer is burned correctly to a NEW CD-RW or DVD-R it should function properly, with what you say is happening you either have some other installer or some other homebrew app. if the boot up menu does not look very close to the JPG'S in the download then something is wrong. if you have the menu screen as shown in the JPG's and some of the options do not work or are disabled this is because of a bad burn to the disk try again, if PAL/NTSC is the only options that works you have to reburn the disk as all options work on a good disk.
if this is not what your refering to please explain what is going on better so I can try to help solve the problem.

Thanks a bunch for the straight forward answers. getting a little sick of the green colour on all the websites ive read
So i dont have to be connected to the internet to FTP to the xbox? just change the settings on my card? And use a crossover from xbox to my ! card?
just have to remember to read how to make the on/off switch for the chip.
Thanks again for your VERY quick reply. |
The internet is not needed to connect to the Xbox, the FTP client you use to access the Xbox will do the work. using the crossover cable to access the xbox you will have to set the PC to use address IP 192.168.1.1 SUB 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.1.1 then also edit the EvoX.ini in the installer to say YES for static IP address it is currently set to NO for working with a router with DCHP turned on. with these changes and a crossover cable you should have no trouble FTPing to or from the XboX. But as I said Before unless you plan to make changes to the OEM XboX HDD there is no real reason to save the info from the OEM drive unless it has to do with game saves you want on the new drive. the installer will add EvoX and M$ dash to the new HDD you just select the one that matches what M$ dash you have now and follow the Step by Step instructions to get the system working as outlined.
SS113 If you have FTP problems beyond what I listed above you can find help in the tutorials section by clicking on the BLUE words below. |
thanks again hehe.
something strange editing the evox.ini with xiso, when i replace NO with YES, the file becomes too big to replace. Only solution to remove a letter ex:
Info "REBUILD HD for XBOX v1.1 4817" instead of HDD
i bought some cheap cd-rw, burned 600MB (at speed 2) of mp3 on one, and my unmodded box/ philips read and played back the music with no problem.
so i used Nero to burn the slayer image, at speed 2."Finalize CD". (i didnt need that for my mp3´s) i will edit the EvoX.ini in the installer to say YES, and burn again.
i havent installed x2lite yet, due to some small problems.
i have also got hold of some the seperate things like evox 1.8.3258 dash boxplorer configmagic dvdx2 media player 2.3 px hdd loader xbox ftp XBWatch
so i dont know if i need the installer, but will probably try it.
thanks again very much for the feedback.
It was a bad burn, I redid it and it works now. Thanks for your input.

im only guessing c:msxboxdash.xbe
this would again destroy the region free aspect.

Hello,
I just got done installing a new HD with Slayer's, and it worked great. I have a dual boot now, EX2 lite, and 120gig hard drive. One question tho, how do i transfer my saves and music over from my backup i made of the C and E drives? Just transfer them over, or do i need to delete some files that are there from the slayer install?
Thanks,

As i understand u can go to m$ dash for this. but also got a reply from another forum to: "Or you can have your evox.ini say this: DVDPlayer = "c:msxboxdash.xbe" Edit: The "c:msxboxdash.xbe" should be the dir of your ms dash. So if your ms dash is c:xboxdash.xbe then it will say: DVDPlayer = "c:xboxdash.xbe" (thanks to dixiewrecked)
currently the iso points to "DVDPlayer = "f:Appsdvdxdefault.xbe"
so this should maybe be changed before burning the iso? since im a noob im only guessing c:msxboxdash.xbe
this would again destroy the region free aspect.
(by the way- i ment to edit this in in my previous post-not start a new one) | Edit the evox.ini after the install to fix the DVD thing. you can use either msxboxdash.xbe or xboxdash.xbe they will both be the same so it does not matter. and yes that will kill the region free unless you load in DVDx when needed from boxplorer in the utilities. use your FTP to edit the evox.ini after the install so you edit the correct ini file as there is 3 in the installer and it depends on the type of install which one is used.

M_A_C | Your saved games are in the E: of the saved backup on your PC, just use our FTP client to copy over the contence of E: from the PC to the E: of the xbox . the reboot the Xbox to have the Xbox see the game save files. all done. there is no need to copy anything from C: if your dual boot is working fine.

its just 1wolf1 wanted to know what Slayer's installer was lacking is his l8test version. and what he could add to a forthcoming relase.
but as you said MeNaCe911, there is no problem in installing version 2.0 and installing updated and new software to suit our needs.
Hey guys, I'm "fortunate" enought to get a v. 1.2 xbox which I just modded, and I am wondering how I should go about installing Slayer's package (which I heard is awesome!). Which settings should I use. Technically I should be able to use the ver. 1.1 installer, then replace my msxboxdash with the one from my ver 1.2 right? Much thanks in advance!!
even if you upgrade you have to change it, so my advice is simply overwrite the cache bit at the moment with this:
<precache>0</precache>
it will work trust me
lol that makes sense, think about it: a 1hour 30 divx film = 90mins 10% of 90 mins= 9mins of caching time that is why it is doing it.
The reasons to upgrade are unlistable... i update my build daily using the cvs as i love xbmp so much...one word: upgrade
Got my modded xbox back (x2lite), no on/off switch yet (read all about it, but have no idea to make it)
turned it on, got the xecuter logo. Put in a backup of hitman 2 on cheap cd-rw it worked first try. Felt lucky, put in evox 3285 boot, worked first try (x-ecuter 11v1.1 4973)
tried slayers-auto installer, worked first time (didnt get IP number, burned it with static on) slayers disk burned with static OFF worked also.
Gonna buy HDD and crossover cable in 11 hours hehe
question: since i dont have the on/off yet, this means i have to open the xbox to pull the jumper. When im installing slayers in dualboot on new HDD?
And has there been any problem recognizing the disk on a new HDD?
should probably post this after ive tried networking the thing, but im to damn proud.

should probably post this after ive tried networking the thing, but im to damn proud. | In order to turn off the chip yes it will mean opening the case if you do not have a switch connected to it. since you will have the case open you can do the install when your installing the new hdd, this makes it easy to access the jumper and with tweazers you can go through the vented metal side below the DVD drive and remove and replace the jumper.
As for problems installing the hdd and the Xbox rebooting to the installer after the transplant this varies with what was done, in most cases there is no problem, make sure the drive is set to master or Cable select your choice, also do not waste alot of time installing the HDD if approx 2 hours pass with the power removed from the xbox it will loose the time stored in it and will error 16 till the time is reset using the oem drive, this should not happen as it only takes a few minutes to change the hdd so all should be fine.

There is many things that can affect the FTP when it comes to problems it could be a characters in the file name or over 40 characters which I believe is the filename limit of the Xbox file system, these are just TWO of the possible reasons for it not sending and so many others that it could be. You have to try different things till you find the reason as I dont think anyone can give you the exact answer without seeing what is going on and just how your network is set up. If you can find the answer on your own copy and paste the command window info into your post for the file that is giving you the problem. This will help someone to try to figure out the reason for the error.

If you are going to be ftping often you might want to look into getting XRENAME (search in the development area to find dl link) this is very handy as it cuts down the file lengths if it has too many for the xbox, it also removes symbols the xbox can't read that make a file fail to transfer like these: J-Lo~#~#~Track{20 would change to J-Lo-Track 20 or something like that. THis tool will change all the files in a folder( up to 6000 i think) so if you are ftping mp3s its a big help. And if you ftp roms then use this also as it has a special rom option on the menu

_________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is for replacing the current evox on the system that has the SlaYerS EvoX auto installer evox installed not for the ISO file before installing. To add the new EvoX 3862 you use FTP to replace the evoxdash.xbe from the download you found and the evox.ini from this page to by doing a copy and paste to make the evox.ini, if you cant figure out how to do this from this info then you do not need to be messing with your xbox and leave well enough alone. there in nothing visual differant in the new dash so it is not anything to go after if you do not have the ability to preform these tasks. Select the contents between the the solid lines above and below the INI posted and save it.

Thanks for the updated INI.
Just so that you know, the forum is removing all the fowardslashes.
so f: would not show the slash i added.
Another question i have, with the old slayers evox, when my xbox booted up, it read "matrix inside." It does not do that anymore, anyway i can get that back?
Thanks.

>>>>>> A WARNING ABOUT XBL AND PC-BIOXX <<<<<<
In the .nfo files for my installer I mention that the installer does suport and allow you to install and run XBL ( Xbox Live ) without getting banned if you have the modchip off. I made specific references to the BioXX since that is what I use.
Well, as with any controlled network ( ie: Satelite TV ) M$ has changed their detection methods in XBL to detect mod chips even when they're switched off!!!!
I am unsure about the other mod chips or models but the PC-BioXX Lik-Sang (v1.1) or anything earlier are detectable by XBL even if xbox is booted via EJECT!!!
The NEW v5 PC-BioXX or PX-NitroXX have new code on the lattice chip that effectively severs them from the LPC bus so no detection by M$ is currently possible.
Note: Erasing the chip will still get you banned as the detection seeks a mod chip not the on-board bios.
So, anyone with a Lik-Sang PC-BioXX, either replace it with a V5 or get a NitroXX or send it to chiptech.de to have it updated.
I installed all the programs with Salyer with no problems in retail HDD. Today I open my XBOX and upgraded the HDD to a IBM 60GXP 60 Gb. I installed the option rebuild upgraded HDD. Everything installs correctly except that the F partition remains in 0 bytes. the xbox works correct with the new HDD but no programs and no F partition available.
According to Slayers CD I have the Xtender 1.1 modchip, do you think that the problem is the modchip or something else for not seeing partition F available with more than 0 bytes??
thanks in advance
Please someone... I really need help with my HDD upgrade... partition F appears with zero bytes... Modchip Xtender 1.1 The cause will be the modchip or what??
xtender 1.1 doesn't have the HDD hack...
But everything is working OK with the new HDD except that it doesn't show the extra Gigabytes free in F partition. But EvoX is running OK in the new HDD.... Before changing the modchip I wanna make sure that the problem is the Modchip,,,
thanks and sorry for asking again
the flash bios opt... how does it work.. can u flash from your box

thanks and sorry for asking again | http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips1.php this is the link to the Xbox-Scene chip compair page, you will find your chip listed there and as said by another poster the chip does not support HDD Swap.
Because it does not support the F partition it will not see it as anything but empty, upgrade your chip

Thanks for the evox.ini update. Im trying it out. Just one problem ive seen. Connecting with ftp client is just fine, but using the "network place" and explorer isnt. It can connect, but not with the subfolders. i tried resetting the "timeout".
so maybe ill just have to go back to my saved files.
I got a question. Ive read thru about 16 pages of posts, and still cant find the info that I need. Im a newB to this Xbox thing, so Ill just put this out there.
How do I delete the movie files that might have come with my installer. There is a bunch of porn on my movie list, And Id much rather not have it there, as this Xbox will be going to a child. Any advice?
This post has been edited by Kame: Mar 26 2003, 02:45 PM
there shouldnt be any porn there, if that is what u want.
But sometimes they put "dummyfiles" on the disk. This is because some dvd drives read them better. Dummyfiles just fill up the CD-RW with MB. They can be anything, so maybe u got some porn hehe.
This will not be installed with the program.
(Maybe im totally wrong here?)

You can use either FTP to delete files you want to remove from your Xbox or Boxplorer that was installed to remove files if FTP is not an option for you.

If you want a chip you can flash and have the flexability of updating it when you want use the X2 Lite/Pro and be done with it.

here's my problem, I installed slayers auto-installer and farked something up. what i wanted to do was install evox and M$ dashboard so I could play xbox live. so I installed the auo-install and now when I switch back to the M$ dashboard i get an error 14 (i think that has to do something with a bad dash) I backup all my drive before doing the auto install so I have all my original files. my other question stems from the previous one. is restoring the xbox as simple as deleting all the drives on the xbox then draging the back-up drives where they once were?
does it have the newest version of evox? Im talking about the one that came out on monday (i think)
no, it's got an old version on there. do you have any suggestions on what to do? (i.e. how to fix error 14)? if so, PM me any time, thanks!

I will be installing the X-ecuter 2 Pro and have downloaded SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0.
Will I need an actual bios (other than what is included in Slayers installer)?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Get the latest 4976.02 bios and flash your chip with it
| QUOTE (graz11 @ Mar 31 2003, 05:19 AM) | | so you're saying to install the live disk then put the evox cd in and install 11-2 and that should fix it? | I will say this, your EvoX is working and the MSDash is not and since i dont have much info from you about your system i will guess as to what is taking place. First off i am going to say you did not follow the instructions in the NFO files or you would not have this problem but because the installer does not support live use but does have a patch you would have run into problems anyway. there is 3 files that are your dash boards, 1) evoxdash.xbe 2) msxboxdash.xbe 3) xboxdash.xbe 1) is evox 2) is M$ dash from in evox 3) is the M$ Dash for retail dash Live or non live dash boot with the mod chip off.
So install the live DVD disk to install the Live dashboard as you will need it to access live, by doing so it will update your dash and the evox msdash will not work if it did so that is where the patch comes in it will copy xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe so both retail and MS dash in evox will work as well as evox dash will work because it is still evoxdash.xbe

What type of Bios would you recommend using with X-ecuter2 PRO ?
So more of less, Slayers EvoX package is a bunch of utilities, minus an actual bios?
Thanks man, I'm trying to learn |
SLayers installer does have 2 Bios included by reading the docs you will find this out. but because there in a 1 meg format and are set in the installer for being flashed to a chip from evox you would have to extract them from the ISO to use to flash your chip with the flashing utility and a PC before the chip is functionable in the xbox. the 2 Bios in the installer are 4974 X2 and D6 . there is many bios out there and I will only recommend that you use either 4974 or a D6 type bios till the dust settels on the new releases of the bios's. the 4974 will give a new user all the function you can handle till you have time to read and search the info deeper to make a choice of your own.
if you need to know what the bios differances are or how to extract a ISO or many other questions you may have click on the BLUE link below it is the Xbox-Scene tutorials pages there you will find everything your mind may want to know about and some your not even interested in but start there for your answers.

Honestly, there have really been no significant changes in functionality from the software I included in V2.0 Once that happends I will release an updated version.
Everyone needs to remeber that the installer is not an end to all product, but a means to build a box quickly and easely and then proceed to customize it.
I will keep people posted with "NewsFlash" updates on the main page as soon as they develop.

Thanks | Yes, correct, however you MUST read the 2 information files included in my release and make sure you back up your xbox BEFORE you make and changes or install anything!
Once you boot with my Installer you'll have FTP access to the XBOX because EvoX has built in FTP. Use that to make a backup of all the data in the C: & E: drives. Ignore X:, Y: & Z:, they are just for swap data.
Steps:
1) install chip 2) boot SlaYer's 3) backup all data via FTP to your PC 4) replace HD with larger one 5) boot SlaYer's & select "Build Large HD!"
Good luck!
Just wanted to say thanks. I hope this fixes my error21
Hey what do u think of the newer nexgen coming out soon? Maybe that'll be big enuf to upgrade slayers to v. 3? Sounds pretty cool..maybe a evoX-nexgen hybrid sort of deal??...
I got a question.. When I want to flash my matrix(mode4) using the evox setup by slayers i just goto flash Bios and choose the bios i have in my bios folder on the c: drive correct? I just want to make sure it's flashing the matrix and not the onboard chip, or it won't hurt it anyways since I didn't solder anything, also correct..?

If you look back a few pages, SS113 posted a note about it.
Anyway, just like with any program already in the HD, just go to the folder it resides in and replace the files with the ones in the new version.
If you used SlaYer's on a retail HD it's the E: drive, otherwise it's F:
1) Go to the Apps/XBPlayer folder and empty it out.
2) Extract the latest XBMP and copy in that folder.
3) Make sure to find the "official" 2.3 release as the DLL files care not included in the latest CVS builds and you'll need to copy just the "dll" folder from the official 2.3 to complement the latest CVS build.
Best of luck!

As for flashing the Matrix, I am unsure, I do not have or can test on one. I setup the installer to flash using standard EvoX commands to the TSOP.
Best bet is to go to an EVOX forum and ask the question as it is their program.
If anyone has succesfully accomplished this however please post here to let everyone else know.

p.s there was enough HD space on E: left so that couldnt be it. | Well as for emulators we don't suport them, but i will try to help as much as I can. The reason some things are not copied from the Installer CD to the HDD can be caused by not using a NEW CD-RW. The Xbox has little problem reading a NEW first time written CD-RW but once a CD-RW is ereased and reused some of the data seams to not be coppied during the install, this is also true when using other copy tools for the Xbox.
I recommend that since you say you can see the files in FlashfXP that you use FTP to add the Emu's to the HDD and or the Rom's to the HDD that are missing, if you're trying to make a installer that will add all the things you have added to it in a one shot tool then try and burn it to DVD-R or a new CD-RW and see it that works for you. other then that I do not have any suggestions.
Good luck in your ventures

| QUOTE (Ronbo @ Apr 5 2003, 11:11 AM) | Last weekend I installed the X2P in my XBOX. First time that I've ever modded anything and it went perfectly. Flashed it on Wednesday after several failed attempts (kept getting a verify error) and backed my XBOX HD up on Thursday. Put a 120GB HD in on Friday and used Slayers Auto Installer to complete the installation. This is a must have utility for first timers! Without it I would have been lost. Thank you Slayer!

HI:
I came on over to this topic cause I already used the SLayer Auto-Install on my XBox and it worked great. But, I tried to get my buddys XBox to work, using X2Pro and Pogo Pins, just like mine, and couldnt get the box to pick up Chip when it was Flashed ( by X2BM) no matter what switch combos I used, always when to M$Dash. So, being the smarty pants I am, I brought his box ot my hous, popped my chip from my own XBox into his box, still MS Dash, treid to flash his chip from MY XBox, still MS Dash, put my X2 Pro back in my box, and guess what, my chip wont work now, only goes to MS Dash when chip is off, XBox FRAGS whenever I pop a switch on. I try to re-flash my chip w/X2BM, but I get Man Cod 00 and Dev Code 00, or F0, f10, f0, f0, all kinda problems with it never can get 01 and 01, not on my XBox or my buddys. I have my XBox listed below..any help you can give me is greatly appreciated, your chat room was the only was Ive been able to get help on ANYTHING with, but, no ones around this late., so i Figd i post here. Ive already posted a couple other times in other topics about this. Look for the other posts if you want more info.
WHen it comes down to it, this is what i need to do and the problems im having doing it
Sigtoms XBox: v1.0 x/thomson DVD Drive yupgraded 120 MB Maxtor HDD ( Slayer Auto Install CD ALREADY INSTALLED W/ALL APPS) 14 games backed up to HDD already X2 Pro mod chip w/Pogo Pins. BIOS: None on chip now, been erased or messed up when I switched chip to a friends XBox, cant read anything off the chip thru X2BM. Could the ribbon cable be the problem? I tried my cable and the one that came with my buddys XBOX, still cant re-flash my chip.
Now as I said above, this DID work before i switched chips w/my buddy. I dont care if i need to re-install the whole Slayer CD and all my gazmes, i just need it to work.
Sorry if this is lengthy, just try and give all the info I can. Thanks in advanced.

dunno what it is, could you try to get slayers install disk working with 4 emulators in the apps folder with every emu about 50 roms or more?
Also tried a other folder like: Emus and edited the evox.ini, but still only a few roms where copied, while if i check the dvdr in the dvdrom of the pc, it shows the roms are really there

SigTom | Sorry to hear you are having the problems but the problems you are having are not caused by the installer and unless you formated the HDD in the xbox that was working then the install and the apps are just fine. The pogo pins adapter for the X2PRO is a sorry ass thing to use but for those who do not wish to solder or can"t then it is an option, with that said if you read the forums for the pogo adapter you will see your not alone. there are many people having the same problem with it aligning right. What i would suggest is you solder in the pin header or have someone do it for you so you can have a stable xbox mod. the reasons you get the error codes in X2BM is the chip is either not getting power from the motherboard or the ribon cable is installed wrong or pins not aligned right. so what one is it well it could be any one or more causing the problem, if you insist on the pogo adapter then it is a trial and error till you find the correct alignment of it. try and try it again and i am sure you alread have, also use a magnifying glass and look the traces over real good and that the places where the pins touch and the D0 point are clean of varnish and are not damaged. if the holes in the LPC on the MotherBoard are not filled with solder i dought you will ever get it aligned. Sorry I dont have a quick fix for you except to solder in the header, also the bios you loaded on the chip is probably still in the chip but if it is not aligned right you can read it or boot to it so till you get it aligned right will you find out.
Good Luck you will need it!

Thanks you SOO much for giving me a reply. I really do appreciate it. SO far, thats the only real advice Ive been given and explanation as to why what is happeing may be happening. Ill try and re-align the Pogo Pins again, and I will have it soldered, most likely on Wed.
When you say "if you havent formated your HDD" I assume you mean I havent formated it AFTER Ive already installed the 120 GB and Slayer Auto Install CD? If so, the no I havent formated it again, all the games and apps should be on there, thats what I thought , just wanst sure. I almost ended up just shipping my XBox off to a company in Cali tyo fix it for me, but now I will give it the good ol college try one more time. Thanks for you help and encouragement.

Does this installer option for having all your dvdx and xboxdash in progressive mode? or should i back up my patched versions and re apply them after upgrade?
| QUOTE (Begbie @ Apr 8 2003, 06:30 PM) | | Does this installer option for having all your dvdx and xboxdash in progressive mode? or should i back up my patched versions and re apply them after upgrade? | There is not an option for progressive mode in the installer you would have to either patch the evox 1.8.3285 that is installed by the installer or FTP you patches to the C: after the install. be careful of the evox.ini as it will be configured for the apps installed so just a heads up.

Correct, in order to take advantage of all the latest software for the xbox the bios MUST be kept updated as well!
Go for any of the new MultiVersion bioses out there like the EvoX D6 ejectfix or the X2 4976.02
NOTE: the new SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.1, coming out soon, REQUIRES the new bioses and will NOT WORK properly without an updated bios on your mod chip!
I'm trying to flash my bios via EvoX. The tutorial says go to System Utils. Where is that on the latest EvoX?
do u figure the version 2.1 will be done by friday? if not whats you ETA? i dont wanna go threw the trouble of setting everything up then having to reformat again.

Install will occur under "e:Apps" for retail HD's and "f:Apps" for upgraded HD's
Remember that if you just update the apps your old EvoX will not see them unless you update it too or have it looking under the proper "Apps" folder!

| Who are "they" ?
Did your HD get upgraded or are you running the retail 8 or 10GB?
If you got a 10GB and apps have been installed on the 2GB F: drive then just choose the Install/Upgrade Large HD as that will put everything under "F:apps"
EvoX will still be installed in C: so this will obviousely not work with F: mod bioses!
E: or F: mod boot bioses are not supported because there will be to many variables to support it properly. Only advanced users who feel confortable with manually editing EvoX , all the config files and do not rely on an auto-installer, should use E: or F: mod bioses anyway!

| QUOTE (RyanC @ Apr 22 2003, 01:19 PM) | Whats the chances of adding emulators into the apps of Slayer's auto install 2.1 that would be much appreciated. | This has been asked before and the answer will still be the same, The Installer is just that to install the needed apps and EvoX to get you going. From this point you need to start doing for your self, this is not meant bad it is a fact. the tool gets you started and has enough things installed to allow you to do just about anything with the Xbox. if you want to add or remove something then study how things are installed on the Xbox and even look over the installer ini files to see how things are set up. this is how you learn to do for yourself. You have made it this far so why stop now start reading and dig in to the Xbox. it can be fun to make it your creation of things.
Enjoy

thanks......this wont bother my emulators installed on f/apps right? | It should not as v2.1 only copies the standard programs under the "Apps" folder.
It should not replace other folders, though it does copy an empty folder called "Emulators" under the Apps folder. (AppsEmulators) If you have the same exact name, it could be overwritten, but I am not 100% sure, I cannot test all the posibilities.
In any event, and as with ANY software that changes your xbox, YOU are responsible for a full backup prior to using it. Please make sure to take care of that to avoid crying later...

| QUOTE (buggs1a @ Apr 28 2003, 06:01 PM) | | Slayer 2.1 has a big bug in my opinion. SS113 mentioned it now deletes the MS dash on an upgrade. i had to use slayer 2.0 to re patch in the ms dash. so there should be a 2.1.1 or something. other then this it's an awesome upgrade over 2.0. | In the first place there is NO BUG in the Version 2.1 of the installer. It does not delete any such thing, It does use a different file name then the 2.0 version did and if you and your BIG mouth and know it all attitude would just shut up and listen for once you would not make such an ass out of yourself.
Since you got mouthy in the mIRC and I Kick/Banned you because you would not stop running off at the jaws maybe you can keep it closed long enough to read the rest of this post!
Version 2.1 of the installer uses the default file names use in the new releases instead of the earlier releases. This was done so that if there is another release of the installer Evox and XBMP should not have a path or file name issues. The file name used now is xboxdash.xbe for the M$ Dash in EvoX and in version 2.0 it was msxboxdash.xbe and this was causing some confusion, only 1 M$ dash file name is now used for both retail M$ Dash and the M$ Dash in EvoX.
Now where your problem all started is because you do not use retail boot and never even checked to see if you Matrix would boot to retail so in the Version 2.0 you never even finished the proper install and so when you installed Version 2.1 over 2.0 it then used the dash you never set up. so where does the bug fall. In my opinion it falls on you.
Once again there is NO Bug in the installer. The XBMP has also been change to meet the defaults now used in all the current releases and this may cause a few problems for a few people but it is not a bug it is a change in the way the installer is built to meet future releases of all apps.

Not familiar with step/option 5, 5-2, but are you sure you have the mod chip enabled? If it is disabled, it boots the MS (retail) dash, enabled it will boot evox (assuming xecuter2 and I think matrix) | Upgrade you mod chip fw to the executer fw. You can do ths w/slayers disc. Problem was solved for me by doing this. SB
hi everyone...
im pretty much a noob when it comes to xbox modding etc... but i try to read as much information as i can get my hands on...
one questionhas been left unanswered for me, even after reading manuals, readmes, and posts in the forum.
the readmes for slayers installer 2.1 suggest that it only (?) works with xboxes 1.1 and 1.0
what about 1.2 and 1.3 boxes? i myself have a 1.3 and i was wondering if i can use the auto installer without messing up my xbox
any replys are appreciated

axl___ | Yes you can use it on any PAL/NTSC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, & 1.3. I strongly suggest you do a backup of the C: and E: before doing any install of anything the 5XXX dash is not available except in a new Xbox so be sure to back it up before adding the evox and apps.
Enjoy

Also use the 2.1 thread this is for the old 2.0 installer it is in this forum.

Carlos | Take the time to read the doc's, this will answer most of your questions. If you still have questions about the installer or your xbox not reading the disk you will need to supply alot more info for anyone to be able to help you. 1st how did you burn the ISO and with what program 2nd version of xbox and or DVD drive in the xbox as well 3rd modchip installed in the xbox 4th Bios version on the modchip any error codes shown on the screen.
without this type of info it is all guess work as to why you are having problems, it can be many things so to get the right answers give the info needed to get a good answer.

| You will be fine if you read all the docs carefully and use the v2.1 installer, not 2.0 (see the link in my signature below)
