Title: NEW! SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer V2.0!
Post by: SlaYer on January 10, 2003, 12:37:00 AM
>>>> NEW! SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0 <<<<<

===================
04/22/03 - NEWSFLASH:
The v2.1 installer is almost ready and bug free.  This has taken a lot of time and effort from both myself and the test team lead by SS113.
Neither myself nor SS113 will answer ANY questions about v2.1 related to your inability to flash your bios to either D.6 EjectFix or X2 Multiversion.  If you do not have the right bios on your chip, or an old unflashable chip, the installer will fail and you will be left out without support on this one, sorry.  Flash with Multiversion bios and and re-install to have it work.  No exceptions!
===================
04/16/03 - NEWSFLASH:
This is really pathetic: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act...ST&f=16&t=45758
===================
04/15/03 - NEWSFLASH:
The new SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.1, coming out soon, REQUIRES that you are running one of the new MultiVersion Bioses (EvoX D6 ejectfix or the X2 4976.02) on your Mod Chip!
It will NOT WORK properly without an updated Bios on your mod chip, so update your mod chip now to be ready in time for the release later this month!

===================
04/13/03 - NEWSFLASH:
Well, v2.1 is in beta testing right now and also in the most capable hands of SS113 who is puting it through its paces.
Expect a release shortly.  FYI, compressed size is 99MB :-)
===================
04/01/03 - NEWSFLASH:
The New ExoX Dash 1.8.3752 does not implement any new features, just fixes from 3682.  SSS113 did a great job again, so if you want to learn how to update the evox.ini file on my installer or the one on your HD, Read About It Here
===================
03/18/03 - NEWSFLASH:
Another big shout out to SS113 for doing such an admirable job in helping everyone in this forum with the Installer questions, he has become quite the expert and I am really glad he is willing to help. I am finding it harded and harder to dedicate time to it so he's a godsent. Thanks SS113!
===================
02/26/03 - NEWSFLASH: SS113 just gave me an idea that might make the next version of the installer not only smaller but also more reliable and allow it to work more smoothly on all xboxes...... Stay Tuned....
===================
02/16/03 - NEWSFLASH: For everyone's information, I have already updated the next release of the installer with the latest ConfigMagic FINAL and Xbox Media Player v2.3 releases.  I am hoping to also include the next release of the NexGen Dashboard once they have a more stable version.

For now enjoy the installer as it's still the best toolkit arround.

BTW, it still puzzles me why Xbox-Scene is not mentioning a word about the installer now that it has become a proven and widely used tool.  I see news about software that does not even work, but no mention of the installer.  This really upsets me and I am now considering not releasing anything else if they deem the installer is not even news worty. :grr:

I urge everyone to email to XanTium and ask "what the hell" and request he posts news about it.

*********************
01/13/03 - NEWSFLASH: With the assistance of Moosta and his wonderfull friend CoRPSe, a new IRC channel has been setup to try to help everyone with their questions on the installer and even obtain it!

BUT FIRST PLEASE READ THIS POST IN IT'S ENTIRETY AS WE WILL NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS ALREADY COVERED HERE!

Use the following information to come and join us on iRC:

* IRC Software: Get your free MIRC Client from here! and choose the link closest to you.

* IRC Server = snoop.burghcom.com ( IRC Server Join Command = /server snoop.burghcom.com )

* IRC Channel = #SlaYerS ( IRC Channel Join Command = /join #SlaYerS )

The channel BOT, called "Bitch" will automatically send you what you need if you issue these simple commands:
!help - tells you how to configure mirc to allow you to get files from this channel! - DO this FIRST!!!!
!nfo - sends you both NFO files (open with Wordpad to read properly!)
!installer - sends you the installer in one 60MB file
!ip - info on fixing IP problems
!modchip - modchip info
!xbmp - bonus! get the latest Xbox Media Player

*********************

The most comprehensive toolkit to date assembled from all the best tools, utilities, bioses and dashboard currently available, all integrated and packaged together with multiple alternate M$ Dashboards.

It weighs in at about 61MB compressed and is being distributed as 3 files and an NFO in the newsgroups. This release is signed to verify authenticity.   I am not taking credit for any of the individual tools, except the way they are compiled, the install scripts, my skins, and the ease of installation.

OK, it's been about than 25 days of crazy work (250+ hours) since the last release of my v1.5 installer and I am proud to bring you the new v2.0!  This version was completely re-written and is the most complex interactive EvoX driven Installer/Toolkit to date.

Most if not all the user requests for features have been added along with countless warnings to try to protect you from destroying your xbox.  However, nothing will help you if you do not first backup your XBOX to your PC via FTP!

The features in the new release are summarized below and further described in detail on the NFO included in the release.

First a few Forum Rules:

1) DO NOT ASK FOR THIS TOOL HERE!!! - use your favorite newsreader and go to the newsgroups (alt.binaries.cd.image.xbox) - If your provider sucks, try www.easynews.com
2) DO NOT PM OR EMAIL ME ASKING FOR THIS TOOL!!!
3) IF YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE OF FINDING THIS INSTALLER ON YOUR OWN, YOU PROBABLY SHOULD NOT BE USING IT, AS YOU WILL MORE THANK LIKELY KILL YOUR XBOX!
4) Please VOTE then post your feedbacks and enhancement ideas here (within reason and limited by the capabilities of EvoX)
5) DO NOT PM OR EMAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS THAT SHOULD BE ASKED ON THE FORUM OR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT FIXING THE INDIVIDUAL TOOLS.  Post, do not PM, so that others can be enlightened!

OK, Here are the new features of SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0:

0. Step-by-step n00bie instalation tutorial!

SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0 FINAL.part01.rar ..... 20.9MB
SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0 FINAL.part02.rar ..... 20.9MB
SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0 FINAL.part03.rar ..... 19.5MB

Files have gone up in YENC format so make sure your newsreader supports it!

Please keep in mind that news servers take a while to distribute files so be patient. If you do not see this after a day or so, simply post a request for it in the  "alt.binaries.cd.image.xbox" newsgroup.

I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF ANYONE MESSES UP THEIR XBOX, SO DO NOT USE THIS TOOL IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IT DOES!

NOTE: The purpose of the forum is to discuss the toolkit, not hand it to users on a platter. If people are not capable of finding it on their own, then they should not be using it as it will probably destroy their xbox and they will be back here 10 minutes later crying and saying they "forgot" to make a backup and are now begging for help!

Well all that said, please help your fellow users, post your comments/feedbacks, Happy New Year, and enjoy it in good health!

Once again, Many thanks to Wolf1 for the dedication and hard work to provide us all with this great application.

I'll hunt it down from the newsgroups and check it all out then I'll get it up onto a website for easy access.

Not meaning to be rude but please dont PM me asking for the link, I'll let you all know once I've managed it.

Just thought I'd let everyone know now so this thread doesnt get filled with requests for a link or where to score it from.

Lets keep the thread clean and tidy, Oh and the most important thing focused on feedback regarding this great new release.

Thanks again Wolf1, Your efforts are appreciated.

Cheers   cool.gif

Ps. I'd love to see the guy who voted " I could do it better" step up to the plate and prove himself, althow I wont hold my breath, they would be big time nutties huh   laugh.gif

There is a good chance that your local ISP's news group servers have not filtered the latest threads threw.

If it doesnt seem complete, then there is a good chance that its not filtered threw yet.

Ps. Ya got to love Google, For those that dont know about "Yenc" check out the following.

Searched the web for Yenc.   Results 1 - 10 of about 38,600. Search took 0.06 seconds.

yEnc - Broken Tools

I have a quick question.

I got a 60gb harddisk. I just received my matrix today, but while I was waiting I have filled about 40 gb of the hd with xbox games (in iso format).

My question is this:

If the harddisk has never been used for an xbox (and hence does not have the partritions and format of the original hardisk) can I still use the slayer boot disc 2.0 to set it up for the xbox without deleting all the current games on it?

Thanks

the whole hd need to be re-format. because they use different file system.

You also can't put them on in ISO format. (I think.)

AFAIK, you have to open the iso with xISO and then upload the actual game files.

do you have to have a network connection because i dont have one and í dont have any money at the moment (still havent found it (because my news server is down when it is up again i'll look over there) or else i'd just check the manual sorry   )
btw the link doesn't work anymore (http://62.31.204.217/)

The network connection is for backing up your existing xbox data to your PC so in case something gets screwed up you don't end up with a dead xbox.

I assume you have a PC ( since you posted ) and you obviousely have an xbox, so all you need is a cheap crossover ethernet cable.  You can get one for $5, just do a search on google for it or go to your local computer store.

Connect the 2 with the crossover cable, configure your PC with IP 192.168.1.10 and just FTP into the XBOX with IP 192.168.1.200  & User: xbox  /  Pass: xbox

DONE!

Good Luck!

I just got done extracting the rar files and recieved errors that they were not authentic?

It still extracted fine but i am a bit worried that someone may have modded them ( I recieved them from aaron1975 @filetopia. Is this a concern? They do have jpg's added. Is this why the file size does not match?

You will receive errors if someone used PAR files to recover a corrupt piece of the post or if there was even the slightest bit of corruption.

The RAR includes 7 pictures, 2 nfo's and the ISO.

Right-click on the ISO and do a "Properties" to get the size.  It should be EXACTLY: 180,092,928 bytes, just as listed in the main NFO under statistics.  You can use the rest of the statistics to verify you have an "un-modded" release.

Enjoy!

At first when I added a brand new 80Gb IBM I got 'errorcode 16'. Unfortunately I was unable to solve the problem with my own box (1.1 with Xecuter2Lite), so I used my friends (1.0 with EvolutionX) and got it up and running with that. Installation was swift and smooth and now my box boots nicely from the hdd. Thanks for this wonderful tool. F'kn Grade-A.

This is going to sound silly but when I ftp games to my xbox what directory do they go in in order to be launched w/PX hdd loader?

It makes no difference, both PxHDD Loader and EvoX autosort by name.  What you MUST do is follow the folder rule of PxHDD Loader and create folders in sequence starting with "PxGame0"..... so next would be "PXGame1", etc...

Question:

In the instructions for a V1.0 box ,upgraded HD, Mod chip that CAN be turned off! you say use ConfigMagic for V1.1? Is that right? uhh.gif

Pat yourself on the back!  You just found a Typo!    Any others?  laugh.gif

Yeas, please use commpn sense in cases like this.  Of course you would not want to run the ConfigMagic fof XBOX v1.1 on a v1.0 XBOX "regardless" of what you read laugh.gif

Good catch....  I guess the fix will go in v2.1  biggrin.gif

i was checking out the evox.ini in slayer's 2.0, and it says
[Network]

SetupNetwork   = Yes
StaticIP   = NO
Ip      = 192.168.1.200
Subnetmask   = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway   = 192.168.1.1
DNS1      = 0.0.0.0
DNS2      = 0.0.0.0

**shouldnt StaticIP = YES?

Also, I was wondering if it doesnt matter which BIOS i flashed my matrix with, see I flashed it with superfr0's D.6.Noani.Blue Color BIOS and I split it into its correct size using BIOS Splitter....

Thanks for the Help in advance,
Excellent program....

StaticIP   = NO  Means that it will attempt to get an IP from your PC/Router/Server FIRST.
If the auto IP assignment, called DHCP, fails it then defaults to the most popular Private IP scheme, 192.168.1.200

As long as you are not using an E: or F: mod bios and my installer you'll be OK!

What does NFO stand for?

Filename.NFO = 8+3 DOS filename restrictions NFO stands for iNFO or Info,  INFO = 4 letters so it is shortened to 3 NFO.

Open with a text file viewer like notepad.exe
It is just a text file.

why do people have so much problems finding your installer its so easy, go download newsbin pro whatever version you can find, next go to http://astalavista.box.sk/ and search for a crack (one warning this site has pop up porn) but you only have to look once. install program run crack, free newsgroup program, next search in the binaries done. i did all that in about 15 mins.

because many people do not have/ know their webserver

I got a problem?? I just install a new 60GB hard drive. Extract slayer EvoX v2. file to folder call Evoxv2 in my C: copy it to cdrw and them put it in my xbox but my xbox do not boot up at all. What do I do wrong????? I them put my old HD back in my xbox them it working fine again.

Ha Ha Ha, laugh.gif !!!  Sorry I could not help it! biggrin.gif

Let me guess you simply copied the ISO as a file to the CDRW, and not burned it as an image, did you?

This stuff kills me.  I tried to make this stuff noob proof and they invent a better noob....... LOL, sorry... could not help myself. laugh.gif

Ok, this is what you do ( which is the same for any ISO! ), you load up any CD burning software like Nero or RecordNow and select Burn IMAGE from the File menu for Nero and just click on the Image button for RecordNow.  Simply point the program to the ISO extracted from the RAR archive and burn it onto a fresh CDRW.

Once the burn is complete, close the CD burning software, eject the tray with the disk in it and just close it again to refresh windows.  Go to My Computer and double click on the Burner Drive so it opens up.  If you see just the ISO file in the root of the CD you did something wrong.  With My ISO you'll get an error reading the CD since the ISO is in XDFS, the XBOX file system, that is incompatible with PC's.  I did that since the xbox reads XFS faster then UDF (seasoned xbox hackers know what I am talking about ).  That error accessing the Installer should be enough to tell you all is probably OK.

Now take the CDRW, place in DVD tray of XBOX and power OFF/ON.  If the Xbox boots from the Installer CDRW than you're set and you should see the green biohazard background.  If you get anything else, the DVD drive in your XBOX more than likely did not read the media.  Retry powering the XBOX OFF/ON with the media in a few times to make sure.  It should detect the media eventually.  If it does not, it's possible that your XBOX DVD drive is not capable of reading that particular brand of CDRW media.  If you have DVDR media try that, if not get different CDRW media and try again.

Hope this is detailed enough for everybody.  Now if only everybody would bother to read this laugh.gif

Burn ISOs with Nero (v0.1)
Tutorial written by : XanTium

Nero can be used to burn CD-RWs , but newer versions of Nero will also allow to burn DVD-R/RWs.

Start Nero.
Select "Recorder" > "Choose Recorder"

Select the burner you want to use ... and click "OK".

Now go to "File" > "Burn Image"

Browse your HD and select the .iso file , then press "Open".
Althought normal iso's work , it's still better to use the "real" xbox format. You can read here how to make a xiso file

Select "Write" and "Finalize CD".
Don't put "Write Speed" too high ... max 2x (or 4x if you have a quality burner) for CD-RW and 1x for DVD-R/RW.
If you installed a PC DVD-ROM in your xbox you can burn at full speed ofcourse.

Nero will start burning .... leave your PC alone till the CD/DVD is fully burned.

SlaYer,

I have to say you have come up with the goods on this one. I'd also like to thank the FileTopia guys too as Newsfeeds and my ISP's news servers were only getting fragmented parts.

Well not only did V2 arrive this morning but my Matrix did too. Within 30 minutes the LPC holes were soldered, D.6 Red was flashed, Matrixed was fitted, existing drive was backup up, Maxtor 120Gb was installed.

Stunning piece of work, keep it up.

Well, vokal4, I designed this to be a simple click and install your whole xbox toolkit.  If I remove functionality or Apps, do you really think that all these people that can't even find it would be capable to installing the apps on their own?  All they would be left with would be a large HD with no tools or software.

The apps I chose were very carefully selected to give all around best functionality, and they are the latest releases 2.

The size of the installer is goverened by the size of all the M$ crap I was forced to include.  The apps are about 5 MB worth compressed.  If I did not discover the trick in incorporating multiple M$ dasboards with a space penalty of only 5MB compresses for any additional ones this installer would have weighed in at about 450Mb

Lastly, since it's "open" software, feel free to strip it down for your use, but I bet you anything that you'll keep it just the way it is laugh.gif

PLEASE e-mail XanTium, who posts all the news on the main page of xbox-scene.com and ask him to post news about this installer as well as a link back to this thread.  I have seen countless posts with problems that would not exist if everyone would use my installer from the start.  It will save eveyone a lot of grief to be aware of this tool.

OK, first of all DO NOT USE THAT "Evox.ini" you list above!!!!

That file is the default that comes with EvoX!  It will just wipe your xbox and leave you wistling in the wind.

My installer ISO is in XDFS format which is optimal and the same format Xbox games come in.  However, if you want to burn your own files in the alternate UDF format, just grab XISO (see xbox-scene downloads) and open the SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0.ISO file.  Extract all the files (170MB) to an empty folder and then burn all the files with RecordNow Max or suimmilar tool that can burn UDF 128 & 8.3 Closed.

Boot with that disk and it should work.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with this installer and 120 gig hd's?

I  read that there may be

Wolf can you explain how your installer decides how to partition the drive????
Thanks for all you help and support!!!!!  smile.gif

There is NO problem with this installer and ANY size Drive!

Facts:

1) Xbox Hardware Limitation 137GB Max HD Space (uses ATA33)

2) If using an upgraded HD choose Option 3 (REBUILD NEW LARGE HD on V1.X SYSTEM).  F: drive will be created and apps copied there. All done!

3) Samsung HD's Suck.  They have lots of problems and come from factory jumpered for 33MB or so.

4) Dell Promotional WD OEM 120GB HD's cannot be locked!

5) Other HD's from several vendors reported locking problems.

6) WD 120GB 8MB Cache work like a dream (running one myself!)

Good luck!

I just installed a bran new HDD into my Xbox and I had tons of trouble getting slayer's evox booting up the new HDD, so I decided to make my own xISO.

2. I have a folder named backup with all 5 backup files in it from my old HDD.

3. An EvolutionX beta 1.8.2594.nfo file

4. A default.xbe file

5. A folder named Bios with Evox2.4 in it.

6. A folder named Skin with folders containing skins inside.

These are all the files and folders that I put inside one big folder that I converted to an xISO format using th xISO program.

I burned the xISO onto a Memorex CDRW at 4x( these disks worked on the old HDD with slayers evox).

My Xbox's power button is broken, so to boot up my Xbox I must tap the eject button once to turn on the power, and then a second time to re-insert the disk tray with the boot disk inside.

When the Xbox starts up with the disk in the drive it reads it for a few seconds and then goes to an error 07 screen every time.

I am using a Matrix with evox2.4 bios, and I have the switches set to always on mode. While swapping the HDD must they be in swap mode? I tried it in swap mode but no luck.

Please I need help ohmy.gif

ThanX

The error 07 is a HHD timeout, because you either have a jumper on the drive set wrong  or maybe a damaged cable.
since the medea that did boot before if i read it right with the orignal HHD. now with a new 120 Gig drive wont boot.

If jumpered wrong both the DVD and the HHD are trying to set who is (0) and who is (1) on the cable. if they cant the OS in the xbox will give up trying and return error 07 HHD timeout. look at the jumpers and make sure it is set to a master or master with slave if it has that option, do not use cable select or slave. some drives require 2 jumpers and some require just 1 jumper. new drives should have a diagram on the lable of the drive as to what to jump for master.

hope this helps, if you put the orignal drive back in will it boot to evox? if not check your chip alignment.

It looks like another collection of tools, but I seriousely doubt that it's as polished and easy to use for a noob as my installer.  Also note that some of the tools are old and some apps are made redundant by recently released and improved software, all of which is in my installer.

If people post questions about my installer after 2 detailed step by step documents totaling over 18 pages of instructions, you can imagine the chaos that mess will create.   ohmy.gif

Please remember that the reason I created this is to make xbox modding Plug & Play.  It's for beginners, advanced users need not use it.

Several options, but in any one case you'd better have a backup:

1) Do a format from the installer!  Option (7-1) - It will erase the entire HD and leave it blank!

2) Delete the files manually from C: (evoxdash.xbe, skins folder, items.txt, evox.ini)

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

How to I get back to the installer screen and format?

Boot to EVOX from HDD, in the first screen go to SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
in the screen that comes up go to SYSTEM SETTINGS

make the changes you want in the IP settings and choose exit & Save at the very bottom way down there.

shut down and restart and ip is set

Also if you want to get back to the installer option screen just reboot from the INSTALLER CD.

Install the drive like it is set to master boot from the cd and select REBUILD LARGE HDD for your type of machine 1.0 or 1.1
thats all there is to it.

I bought XBOX and gave it to my chip installer to mod it (with homebrew, EvoX D.6). Without turning the console on he installed chip and gave it back. When I booted console XBOX reported Error 16. It didn't want zo boot anything else but EvoX CDRW. I figured something is wrong with HD so I used NewHDEvoX1.2 to format and install thing all over again. I guess HD formatted OK, copy also worked (?), but when pressinf "Fix Attributes" it reported Error 21. After rebooting it still gives Error 16.

I disabled mod chip and then it gave me Error 5.

I also took HD out and tried HD Preparer 1.3 on it, but it gives error: "Error writing drive at sector 0". Probabaly because HD is locked? I can't unlock this drive with hdunlock.exe because I don't have password for it. Is there any other way??

I also tried Slayer's Auto Installer and when I choose option"Rebuild Retail HD" formating goes well (no errors), it also copies all files to disk with short "Done" at the end, but when I reboot XBOX it's still Error 16  When I go to ConfigMagic menu and run "ConfigMagic v1.0 EEprom Setting" XBOX gives Error 21. Same error for options like "NTSC-PAL Video Mode switcher" and all others who need to be run from dashboard.

Any ideas what should I do?

tnx!

Just a word of thanks Slayer!   biggrin.gif
your install went without a hitch! New 20 gig drive (all I had laying around) and evox installed perfectly.
Copied back my save games from the backup on my pc and all is great. Thanks.

One quick question. Adding new apps: Can i just copy the mame-x files and the roms to the hd?
If I can which drive and do I need to create a special folder?  biggrin.gif

Glad to hear you're happy!

You can copy whatever you want to your HD.  If you chose the REBUILD LARGE HD option then it placed all the apps under f:\apps.  All you need to do is create additional folders under Apps like this:  F:\Apps\MameX\  EvoX is already setup to auto-discover/sort all apps under the Apps folder provided the main executable file is called "default.xbe"

Enjoy!

Well, neither question is about my installer, they are both about specific functionalitly of the applications installed.  What did I say about me not supporting the individual tools?  You really need to read things carefully and think before you post.

Oh, hell, here you go:

1) In XBMP2, go to the very bottom of the main menu and you'll see 2 small rectangular buttons. The one on the left is reset the one on the right is power off.  Hmmmm..... simple, no?

2) Both Triggers and then "Back" & Black, all simultaneous.  Works for me! laugh.gif

I installed new 20 GB HD and XBOX works fine now. But I'd like to unlock retail HD somehow!

Is there ANY way to obtain password for original XBOX HD besides brute force  - so I can unlock it and then format it and use your auto installer? Password generated with newly installed HD is not accepted by unlockx.

tnx

Retail HD can only be unlocked in the original XBOX it came in and only if the EEPROM has not been touched.  Run ConfigMagic and unlock it.  If ConfigMagic fails to run, restore the original files from backup on that drive, install ConfigMagic just like any app, run it and unlock!

ConfigMagic won't boot with retail HD in XBOX, it gives Error 21.
When I use new 20 GB hard drive ConfigMagic boots ok - actually all things work fine.

I tried and disable chip (so XBOX is in "Virgin" state) but instead of booting normally it gives Error 5. I haven't touched EEprom, don't even know how to do that.

I'm now looking for solution how to unlock retail HD in PC without original password, because I have no clue how to do that in XBOX? Can I use hotswap in ConfigMagic? ... I run it from new HD and then swap it with retail one?

Slayer, thanks for re-upping it, but I'm getting this error when I unrar it:

Invalid or corrupt authenticity information

I mean, it unrars, but it just gives that error message...I haven't burned it onto a DVD yet, but I wanted to make sure that it was not bugged before I wasted a DVDr.

What version of winrar did you use to rar it?  Did you use a version older than 3.0?

Thanks

OK, do this:

1) use 20GB HD and load my installer.
2) select option (2) to save the EEPROM info to c:\backup on the 20GB HD
3) FTP into the XBOX and copy the entire c:\backup folder to your PC
4) Connect LOCKED Retail Xbox HD to your PC
5) Reboot PC (ignore any warnings about they HD)
6) In Windows, get a copy of and load up "LiveInfo" from Team-Assembly
7) Open up the eeprom.bin file from the copy of the c:\backup
8) If the password in the eeprom.bin file matches the one in the HD, you'll see the HD displayed at the bottom of LiveInfo.  Select "Unlock"
9) Done!

Hi wolf
Remember I could'nt get any apps,ms dash and so on to work in v1.5.
You said it was because I had a v1.1 box ,well I've put v2 in and its no better.
Do you have any ideas ,if I select any app or ms dash it says loading and thats it.
I've upgraded from v1.5/I've restored retail and upgraded from that and I've deleated everything off the partitions and built from scratch all with no joy.
All the roots point to the right places just nothin.
Jupter

This was me for the past 2 weeks.
After talking to SS113 and fitting different chips only to come back to the first chip it worked.
I fitted a homebrew chip not knowing what bios it had on it and all was well ,it played copies and so on.
Then I discovered slayer's evox which I installed at once and got the above results.
I could'nt get anything to work so I thought it was the chip and with this I got a different one ,ploped it in and nothin would'nt even boot .
In the end I tried the first chip again which had been fitted straight to the board with the link ,but this time I used wires 1-9 with link and bob's yer uncle it worked .
So it just goes to show you that even though it play copies is your chip really fitted properly.

P.S its a homebrew evox 3.6ef bios with 1.1 eject fix
Can anyone tell me does it support hdd upgrade before I go and buy one.

1)
When i put the auto installer v2.0 disk in and started the xbox.
The screen comes on and at the bottom it says MATRIX INSIDE.
Does this mean what i think (that the chip is a matrix, not x-ecuter2 lite)?

2)
When your auto installer starts this is on the screen.

EVOX v1.8.3285 ----------------------------------------SLAYER TOOLS v2.0
BIOS: EVOX D.6-----------------------------------------C: 415.563.776
KERNEL 1.06.4817.01----------------------------------E: 5.094.883.328
IP.0.0.0.0-------------------------------------------------F:0

Does this mean that the evox is already installed?
Looks like everything has been done. ( but I have been wrong before ) wink.gif

D: is your DVD drive and you cannot read it through FTP until EvoX and the Drive itself recognizes the media.

Oh, and I really wish you read the NFO file before making that earlier post about error 13!!!!  Why doesn't anyone bother to read?

I got your auto installer.

I’m completely new to this.
I had never seen a working xbox, before i got mine.
When i bought the xbox it was chipped.
The person i got it from said it had an x-ecuter2 lite in it. (This is what i wanted.)

I have a couple of questions. unsure.gif

Possibly, but I doubt it. It's usually just replacement text for the word "MS"

NO, it means you've booted from the installer.  Since it's based on EvoX it displays that info.

Your IP is 0.0.0.0 which means you're either not networked or the IP is incompatible with your network.  you MUST be able to FTP to the XBOX and back it up before doing anything further.  Read earlier posts in this thread and follow the tutorials.

You have a retail HD so if you want to be able to store games on the HD you must upgrade it.

Before you do anything, fix the IP problem, backup the EEPROM and BIOS with option (2) on the installer and then FTP the contents of both your C: and E: partitions to a safe place on your PC.  I already cover all this in the Instalation instructions for the installer.  Than follow the instructions there to install EvoX to the HD and all the apps.  Easy as pie.

Remember to read everything first!

im getting really frustrated here, nothing i put in will boot, it will always give me error 16, the only diferent error it will give me is error 7 when i unplug the HDD
i even tried a blank 40 gig HDD and disabling the MODchip and it still give me error 16 when it should be giving me error 5 or 6.
i know the media is good i have used before.

i turn my xbox on, it show the animation, then show the xbox logo (with no MS or Xecuter2 logo underneath) spins the cd-rw and then error 16

grr.gif

Make sure you burned your iso image with the following options:

1. Disk at once.
2. Finalize
3. Burn at 2x or 4x.

I use Memorex 4x and 10x cd-rw's with zero problems. Last disk I burnt at 10x and it loads every time in my xbox.

Id/loaded this s/ware the other day, since then I tried a number of ways to connect my pc to the xbox....including extracting the iso's using Xiso (editing ) & burning in UDF 128 8+3.
And also

When I place the media into my xbox...no ip addy is shown.
But iI went ahead with the install anyway (works a treat)

Now I'm lucky I got away with it,

All I want to know is why didn't my ip addy show up, do I need to have the disc in when I try to connect into the pc?

6) In Windows, get a copy of and load up "LiveInfo" from Team-Assembly

9) Done!

Your solution for my problem didn't work sad.gif
LiveInfo2  - when supplied eeprom.bin from c:\backup of XBOX which doesn't recognise original HD - actually gives Calculated Password for original XBOX (Seagate) HD, but it's not the right one... LiveInfo2 doesn't show any Unlock option nor does this password work with UnlockX.

So I guess I can throw this HD away?
I'm gonna try the last thing that's on my mind: to do a hot swap within ConfigMagic2 with replaced IBM 20 GB HD to see how it will react smile.gif Maybe it will unlock

tnx

PM unded, he's a really nice guy and if you do not bother him a lot I am sure he will be able to solve your problem and help you use LiveInfo to unlock your HD.  After all, he wrote this great tool along with ConfigMagic!

btw i have a v1.0 xbox with a thompson dvd and a retail 8 gig hd and i'm using slayers evox installer 2.0 offcourse
and the pc í'm using has no network card but a usb -> ethernet converter network device that connect to the pc with a usb connector and has a ethernet in at the end it's from sohoware(modelnumber :NUB110) i'm running XP and i have no networking experience

HELP ME PLEASE

and a X2 lite almost forgot it  rolleyes.gif

You have many issues that should be answered in the installer information files,  if you already used the installer to install any of the options on the disk then you did not read the files and need to do so. there you will find that you have already writen over your files that you were to make a back up of. and so the error 13 problem you are having could be tough to recover if your xbox wont work with one of the dash's included in the installer.
as for the FTP problem there are tutorials for how to get your FTP working, there is also good help in XP just click on HELP. ask it what you want to know and read. click BLUE words below for the TUT. pages.

Hi

Installed Slayers on a 10 gig HDD, everything works a treat except I can't get back to the M$ dash to change the clock!!!

Any ideas on what to do, any work around's possible?

...When you hit the "go to M$ dash" option all it does is reboot the system rather than drop into the M$ dash.

beerchug.gif

Follow the directions to recover from the error 13 or 21 it is the very first step after the install. Please read and follow the instructions, if you still have trouble and cant get it come see me on mIRC and we will get you going.

Dude, just un-ISO it with xISO :-) It's not that difficult ... The program will do all the work.

By the way SS113, it has been done! It worked fine, just fine ... I'll FTP the Media Player 2.3 and I'm all set.

Quick question, I hope someone can answer - before I try Slayer's install.  This may seem silly, but I want to be certain.

I have an Executer-2, with a mod on/off switch. I used an Evox disk to create the /backup directory, and then backed up by Xbox C and E. I then installed a larger hard drive, and copied back my original C and E drive info. My Evox dash is evoxdash.xbe.

At this point, everything works as expected.

Now, I'd like to try the Slayer install.

Since I have gotten to this point, can I skip the Slayer pre-steps? I would assume I could if:

option (2) to "save BIOS/EPROM" is the same as an Evox backup.

Can anyone confirm this???

I know, I'm just saving myself a little time here - I just don't want to have another backup if I don't need it.

Thanks for listening... This is similar to lopkhie's question, but  I didn't yet see an answer.

Okay, I answered my own question.

The backup that I made originally is the same as what Slayer's backup would give you.

SS113,

New update.

Looks like the contents of the C partition on a 4972 Xbox do not work on a 3944 model. But I did install the dash on top of my evoxdash.xbe and the files remained intact! It did reorganize the original C contents to the reduced folders though.

thanks, i dl the installer. Will burn it on to different NEW cd-rw discs.
since ive never tried cd-rw on my philips drive before, i will try with some mp3 collections first.

Questions.

FTP to xbox, (yes ive read tutorials)
Im connected to the net via LAN and a ethernet card. Do i need another ethernet card in my PC?
(to connect the crossover cable to the xbox.) Problem is that my pc dont have space for two cards.

i have an xbox v.1.1, and will install X-ecuter 2 Lite, with a new 80 G WD. and use the rebuild
"(F)  Setting-Up a V1.1 XBOX with an Upgraded HD and a MOD chip that can be turned OFF!"

the one problem i see, is that cant save the original HDD to my pc, if i need two ethernet cards.
and as i understand, this is important if m$ dash get raped during the slayer installation(faulty cd-rw..)

as the box mainly is for original dvd playback, do i have to go into to the m$ dash from evox to get to the dolby digital/DTS settings?

And can i still use the dvd remote/infrared with the installation?

thanks.

Wanted to say 'THANKYOU' 1wolf1 for a great product.
Otherthan working out that my Aussie Xbox V1.1 didn't like Acer CDRW media but loved Kodac CDRW, things went like clockwork.
Mind you, I get some assistance from a buddy in Adelaide.  smile.gif

I do have one question though regarding a lost 2Gb portion on the original Xbox HDD.

This is a ST310211A Seagate HDD which I believe is a 10Gb 5400rpm model going by the Seagate home page.

Just some feedback regarding my setup steps.
I installed the mod chip.
With the Slayors boot disk running, I unlocked the OEM HDD with the unlock utility menu. I then removed the OEM HDD and inserted this into my PC as I had a replacement 80GB HDD for the Xbox.
I then run the fdisk utility on PC but it would only recognise 8Gb and not the 10Gb as I thought it would.
Tried running the Prep1.3 xbox format tool on PC with still no luck.
Then reinstalled the OEM HDD back into the XBox and run the slayors disk as I read positive results regarding this lost 2Gb scenario.
Still no luck with this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

In the installer there is the option to format F: as well as the way the tutorial says to do it. I have not gone after the extra space of the OEM drive as I have kept mine as a backup to the Xbox. Sorry I dont have better answers about this but I have no experiance in that drive.

Yes you can add the evox and apps over your current evox install but remember this is set up to run the apps as installed and your custom setting may not be the same so save your current evox.ini file for referance but for the apps to work right with the way they are installed by the installer you will have to use the evox.ini that the installer installs and maybe edit it to suit your needs.

If all you want to do is update the evox only on your xbox then it would be best to locate the 1.8.3285 EvoX release and install it .

Excellent package, Slayer.

I had someone point me towards the IRC method of finding it about a month or two back..  At that point, I'd never heard of it, and really didn't know much about it... For that matter, I think that few people realized it existed at that point.   I just had a new HD to setup, and was looking for the easiest way to do so.

Your package certainly provded to be the easiest, and most certainly the best...by far.

Kudos for a job well done.  Don't get discouraged for the seeming "lack of support"..  I assure you there are many people out there that have saved themselves a great deal of hassle thanks to it, and would give you a big pat on the back in person if they could..

im sorry if this has come up, i did a search but didnt find anything. I just updated to a larger HD, slayers disc worked wonderfully, everything is great, except one thing. When i want to exit from a game or app lets say XBMP, i hit the button to exit to dash, and it resets the whole damn system. On my previous HD, with the same evox dash, i could exit from XPMP right to the dash.  Anyone come across this? or know how I may go about fixing this? Thanks.

If you are using the IGR buttons on the controller to exit the XBMP or GAMES and the system reboots when doing this there is a fix for this. Well this is what I found to be the problem, this is related to the BIOS you are using and the EvoX, Evox as installed by the installer will have IGR in all places in the System Settings menu set to YES. and If the Bios your using has IGR built in like 4974 then there is a conflict, In my System Settings I set the IGR under MISC. to NO and left all other places set to YES. this cured the rebooting from games and XBMP for my system. give it a try and see if it helps your Xbox.

Mengsk

If you have the complete Download as released by 1wolf1 (SlaYer) then you have 7 JPG's 2 NFO's and 1 ISO file. when the installer is burned correctly to a NEW CD-RW or DVD-R it should function properly, with what you say is happening you either have some other installer or some other homebrew app. if the boot up menu does not look very close to the JPG'S in the download then something is wrong. if you have the menu screen as shown in the JPG's and some of the options do not work or are disabled this is because of a bad burn to the disk try again, if PAL/NTSC is the only options that works you have to reburn the disk as all options work on a good disk.

if this is not what your refering to please explain what is going on better so I can try to help solve the problem.

Thanks a bunch for the straight forward answers.
getting a little sick of the green colour on all the websites ive read smile.gif

So i dont have to be connected to the internet to FTP to the xbox? just change the settings on my card? And use a crossover from xbox to my ! card?

just have to remember to read how to make the on/off switch for the chip.

Thanks again for your VERY quick reply.

The internet is not needed to connect to the Xbox, the FTP client you use to access the Xbox will do the work. using the crossover cable to access the xbox you will have to set the PC to use address
IP 192.168.1.1
SUB 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
then also edit the EvoX.ini in the installer to say YES for static IP address it is currently set to NO for working with a router with DCHP turned on. with these changes and a crossover cable you should have no trouble FTPing to or from the XboX. But as I said Before unless you plan to make changes to the OEM XboX HDD there is no real reason to save the info from the OEM drive unless it has to do with game saves you want on the new drive. the installer will add EvoX and M$ dash to the new HDD you just select the one that matches what M$ dash you have now and follow the Step by Step instructions to get the system working as outlined.

SS113
If you have FTP problems beyond what I listed above you can find help in the tutorials section by clicking on the BLUE words below.

thanks again hehe.

something strange editing the evox.ini with xiso,
when i replace NO with YES, the file becomes too big to replace. Only solution to remove a letter ex:

Info "REBUILD HD for XBOX v1.1 4817" instead of HDD

i bought some cheap cd-rw, burned 600MB (at speed 2) of mp3 on one, and my unmodded box/ philips read and played back the music with no problem.

so i used Nero to burn the slayer image, at speed 2."Finalize CD". (i didnt need that for my mp3´s)
i will edit the EvoX.ini in the installer to say YES, and burn again.

i havent installed x2lite yet, due to some small problems.

i have also got hold of some  the seperate things like
evox 1.8.3258 dash
boxplorer
configmagic
dvdx2
media player 2.3
px hdd loader
xbox ftp
XBWatch

so i dont know if i need the installer, but will probably try it.

thanks again very much for the feedback.

i want to use my dvd remote for films. As i understand u can go to m$ dash for this.
but also got a reply from another forum to:
"Or you can have your evox.ini say this: DVDPlayer = "c:msxboxdash.xbe"
Edit: The "c:msxboxdash.xbe" should be the dir of your ms dash. So if your ms dash is c:xboxdash.xbe then it will say: DVDPlayer = "c:xboxdash.xbe" (thanks to dixiewrecked)

currently the  iso points to
"DVDPlayer   = "f:Appsdvdxdefault.xbe"

so this should maybe be changed before burning the iso?
since im a noob tongue.gif im only guessing c:msxboxdash.xbe

this would again destroy the region free aspect.

(by the way- i ment to edit this in in my previous post-not start a new one)

Edit the evox.ini after the install to fix the DVD thing. you can use either msxboxdash.xbe or xboxdash.xbe they will both be the same so it does not matter. and yes that will kill the region free unless you load in DVDx when needed from boxplorer in the utilities. use your FTP to edit the evox.ini after the install so you edit the correct ini file as there is 3 in the installer and it depends on the type of install which one is used.

Your saved games are in the E: of the saved backup on your PC, just use our FTP client to copy over the contence of E: from the PC to the E: of the xbox . the reboot the Xbox to have the Xbox see the game save files. all done. there is no need to copy anything from C: if your dual boot is working fine.

You only need to edit the first evox.ini in the root directory, the reason is it is the one used when booting the installer the others do not come into play till the install is finished and you can make changes in the system settings of network settings.
either way is fine though.

Since I dont have the 10Gig Drive in my xbox to try it on I am not able to give a honest answer to your question.
I can tell you this if you use the retail rebuilt the Installer will not format the F: partition, if you use a Large Rebuild option the installer WILL format the F: partition, I dont know if it will have the extra 2 Gig or just 0 but your more then welcome to try and post your findings for others that may have the same question.

its just 1wolf1 wanted to know what Slayer's installer was lacking is his l8test version. and what he could add to a forthcoming relase.

but as you said MeNaCe911, there is no problem in installing version 2.0 and  installing updated and new software to suit our needs.

Hey guys,
I'm "fortunate" enought to get a v. 1.2 xbox which I just modded, and I am wondering how I should go about installing Slayer's package (which I heard is awesome!).  Which settings should I use.  Technically I should be able to use the ver. 1.1 installer, then replace my msxboxdash with the one from my ver 1.2 right?  Much thanks in advance!!

even if you upgrade you have to change it, so my advice is simply overwrite the cache bit at the moment with this:

<precache>0</precache>

it will work trust me

lol that makes sense, think about it: a 1hour 30 divx film = 90mins
10% of 90 mins= 9mins of caching time that is why it is doing it.

The reasons to upgrade are unlistable... i update my build daily using the cvs as i love xbmp so much...one word: upgrade

biggrin.gif

Got my modded xbox back (x2lite), no on/off switch yet sad.gif  (read all about it, but have no idea to make it)

turned it on, got the xecuter logo.
Put in a backup of hitman 2 on cheap cd-rw it worked first try.
Felt lucky, put in evox 3285 boot, worked first try  (x-ecuter 11v1.1 4973)

tried slayers-auto installer, worked first time (didnt get IP number, burned it with static on)
slayers disk  burned with static OFF worked also.

Gonna buy HDD and crossover cable in 11 hours hehe

question: since i dont have the on/off yet, this means i have to  open the xbox to pull the jumper.
When im installing slayers in dualboot on new HDD?

And has there been any problem recognizing the disk on a new HDD?

should probably post this after ive tried networking the thing, but im to damn proud.

In order to turn off the chip yes it will mean opening the case if you do not have a switch connected to it. since you will have the case open you can do the install when your installing the new hdd, this makes it easy to access the jumper and with tweazers you can go through the vented metal side below the DVD drive and remove and replace the jumper.

As for problems installing the hdd and the Xbox rebooting to the installer after the transplant this varies with what was done, in most cases there is no problem, make sure the drive is set to master or Cable select your choice, also do not waste alot of time installing the HDD if approx 2 hours pass with the power removed from the xbox it will loose the time stored in it and will error 16 till the time is reset using the oem drive, this should not happen as it only takes a few minutes to change the hdd so all should be fine.

Its INSTALLED.

Backed up original hdd with flash fxp, put in new.

All went swimmingly until installation step 9, when i got error 21.
Changing that x2lite jumper with  tweazers is a bi¤%#, espesially when u lose it in the box.
everything went ok, had to change the ip settings though.

QUESTION: I can connect to the box with Flash fxp, made a folder "film1" in the movie map in f:.
But the file wont transfer, i get "connection lost" searching for binary data or something.
Any help?

Last i want to thank 1wolf1 a.k.a SlaYer for the prog, an especially SS113 for all the help and straight forward answers. Should be more people like you.user posted image

There is many things that can affect the FTP when it comes to problems it could be a characters in the file name or over 40 characters which I believe is the filename limit of the Xbox file system, these are just TWO of the possible reasons for it not sending and so many others that it could be. You have to try different things till you find the reason as I don’t think anyone can give you the exact answer without seeing what is going on and just how your network is set up. If you can find the answer on your own copy and paste the command window info into your post for the file that is giving you the problem.  This will help someone to try to figure out the reason for the error.

Yes, the name was under 40 characters (14 )
But just renaming it with a simple/short text did the trick.

i think it was the "xxx" that stopped it biggrin.gif

learning something everyday.

If you are going to be ftping often you might want to look into getting XRENAME (search in the development area to find dl link) this is very handy as it cuts down the file lengths if it has too many for the xbox, it also removes symbols the xbox can't read that make a file fail to transfer like these:
J-Lo~#~#~Track{20
would change to
J-Lo-Track 20
or something like that. THis tool will change all the files in a folder( up to 6000 i think) so if you are ftping mp3s its a big help.
And if you ftp roms then use this also as it has a special rom option on the menu

Version 3.3 - Code clean up, supports up to 10000 files and 2000 subdirs (hope this is enough).
More unsupported chars removed (thanks to wolfie). Added option to process all subdirs (thanks to h4tr3d). Some more bugs fixed. Installer + some shell integration, right click on a folder and you should see "XRename all...", it will rename all files in that folder and in all subdirs too and create an undo.bat in that folder. Now only one undo.bat is created for all subfolders (in the folder XRename was pointed).

This is for replacing the current evox on the system that has the SlaYerS EvoX auto installer evox installed not for the ISO file before installing. To add the new EvoX 3862 you use FTP to replace the evoxdash.xbe from the download you found and the evox.ini from this page to by doing a copy and paste to make the evox.ini, if you cant figure out how to do this from this info then you do not need to be messing with your xbox and leave well enough alone. there in nothing visual differant in the new dash so it is not anything to go after if you do not have the ability to preform these tasks.
Select the contents between the the solid lines above and below the INI posted and save it.

Thanks for the updated INI.

Just so that you know, the forum is removing all the fowardslashes.

so f: would not show the slash i added.

Another question i have, with the old slayers evox, when my xbox booted up, it read "matrix inside." It does not do that anymore, anyway i can get that back?

Thanks.

Thanks for catching the (slash) problem in the INI files posted i have corrected that in the posts

The MATRIX INSIDE under the X logo is in the bios not evox, if you changed your bios that is were you lost the MATRIX splash other then that i dont know where it went

>>>>>>  A WARNING ABOUT XBL AND PC-BIOXX  <<<<<<

In the .nfo files for my installer I mention that the installer does suport and allow you to install and run XBL ( Xbox Live ) without getting banned if you have the modchip off.  I made specific references to the BioXX since that is what I use.

Well, as with any controlled network ( ie: Satelite TV ) M$ has changed their detection methods in XBL to detect mod chips even when they're switched off!!!!

I am unsure about the other mod chips or models but the PC-BioXX Lik-Sang (v1.1) or anything earlier are detectable by XBL even if xbox is booted via EJECT!!!

The NEW v5 PC-BioXX or PX-NitroXX have new code on the lattice chip that effectively severs them from the LPC bus so no detection by M$ is currently possible.

Note:  Erasing the chip will still get you banned as the detection seeks a mod chip not the on-board bios.

So, anyone with a Lik-Sang PC-BioXX, either replace it with a V5 or get a NitroXX or send it to chiptech.de to have it updated.

I installed all the programs with Salyer with no problems in retail HDD. Today I open my XBOX and upgraded the HDD to a IBM 60GXP 60 Gb.
I installed the option rebuild upgraded HDD. Everything installs correctly except that the F partition remains in 0 bytes. the xbox works correct with the new HDD but no programs and no F partition available.

According to Slayers CD I have the Xtender 1.1 modchip, do you think that the problem is the modchip or something else for not seeing partition F available with more than 0 bytes??

thanks in advance

http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips1.php this is the link to the Xbox-Scene chip compair page, you will find your chip listed there and as said by another poster the chip does not support HDD Swap.

Because it does not support the F partition it will not see it as anything but empty, upgrade your chip

Just one problem ive seen. Connecting with ftp client is just fine, but using the "network place" and explorer isnt. It can connect, but not with the subfolders.
i tried resetting the "timeout".

so maybe ill just have to go back to my saved files.

I got a question. Ive read thru about 16 pages of posts, and still cant find the info that I need. Im a newB to this Xbox thing, so Ill just put this out there.

How do I delete the movie files that might have come with my installer. There is a bunch of porn on my movie list, And Id much rather not have it there, as this Xbox will be going to a child. Any advice?

there shouldnt be any porn there, if that is what u want.

But sometimes they put "dummyfiles" on the disk. This is because some dvd drives read  them better. Dummyfiles just fill up the CD-RW with MB. They can be anything, so maybe u got some porn hehe.

This will not be installed with the program.

(Maybe im totally wrong here?)

I do not know where you downloaded you copy of the SlaYerS EvoX Auto Installer V2.0 from but the real release does not have any PORN or questionable content.
You can use either FTP to delete files you want to remove from your Xbox or Boxplorer that was installed to remove files if FTP is not an option for you.

I personaly use the X2 Lite chip and the pro version is a very good mod chip as well. i fell you get what you pay for. the BioXX or nitroxx chip is another good mod chip and i am sure there is others but i have not used them so i will not comment on the others.
If you want a chip you can flash and have the flexability of updating it when you want use the X2 Lite/Pro and be done with it.

here's my problem, I installed slayers auto-installer and farked something up. what i wanted to do was install evox and M$ dashboard so I could play xbox live. so I installed the auo-install and now when I switch back to the M$ dashboard i get an error 14 (i think that has to do something with a bad dash) I backup all my drive before doing the auto install so I have all my original files. my other question stems from the previous one. is restoring the xbox as simple as deleting all the drives on the xbox then draging the back-up drives where they once were?

If you are planing to use live on the xbox and have the installer installed and a working evox dash install the Live from the disk then run the patch from the installer 11 2 to configure the ms dash for evox and you will fix your error 14 problem.

so you're saying to install the live disk then put the evox cd in and install 11-2 and that should fix it?

I will say this, your EvoX is working and the MSDash is not and since i dont have much info from you about your system i will guess as to what is taking place.
First off i am going to say you did not follow the instructions in the NFO files or you would not have this problem but because the installer does not support live use but does have a patch you would have run into problems anyway.
there is 3 files that are your dash boards, 1) evoxdash.xbe 2) msxboxdash.xbe 3) xboxdash.xbe
1) is evox
2) is M$ dash from in evox
3) is the M$ Dash for retail dash Live or non live dash boot with the mod chip off.

So install the live DVD disk to install the Live dashboard as you will need it to access live, by doing so it will update your dash and the evox msdash will not work if it did so that is where the patch comes in it will copy xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe so both retail and MS dash in evox will work as well as evox dash will work because it is still evoxdash.xbe

What type of Bios would you recommend using with X-ecuter2 PRO ?

So more of less, Slayers EvoX package is a bunch of utilities, minus an actual bios?

Thanks man, I'm trying to learn  uhh.gif

SLayers installer does have 2 Bios included by reading the docs you will find this out. but because there in a 1 meg format and are set in the installer for being flashed to a chip from evox you would have to extract them from the ISO to use to flash your chip with the flashing utility and a PC before the chip is functionable in the xbox. the 2 Bios in the installer are 4974 X2 and D6 . there is many bios out there and I will only recommend that you use either 4974 or a D6 type bios till the dust settels on the new releases of the bios's. the 4974 will give a new user all the function you can handle till you have time to read and search the info deeper to make a choice of your own.

if you need to know what the bios differances are or how to extract a ISO or many other questions you may have click on the BLUE link below it is the Xbox-Scene tutorials pages there you will find everything your mind may want to know about and some your not even interested in but start there for your answers.

Honestly, there have really been no significant changes in functionality from the software I included in V2.0  Once that happends I will release an updated version.

Everyone needs to remeber that the installer is not an end to all product, but a means to build a box quickly and easely and then proceed to customize it.

I will keep people posted with "NewsFlash" updates on the main page as soon as they develop.

Yes, correct, however you MUST read the 2 information files included in my release and make sure you back up your xbox BEFORE you make and changes or install anything!

Once you boot with my Installer you'll have FTP access to the XBOX because EvoX has built in FTP.  Use that to make a backup of all the data in the C: & E: drives.  Ignore X:, Y: & Z:, they are just for swap data.

Steps:

1) install chip
2) boot SlaYer's
3) backup all data via FTP to your PC
4) replace HD with larger one
5) boot SlaYer's & select "Build Large HD!"

Good luck!

Thank you.  Very kind!

If you look back a  few pages, SS113 posted a note about it.

Anyway, just like with any program already in the HD, just go to the folder it resides in and replace the files with the ones in the new version.

If you used SlaYer's on a retail HD it's the E: drive, otherwise it's F:

1) Go to the Apps/XBPlayer folder and empty it out.

2) Extract the latest XBMP and copy in that folder.

3) Make sure to find the "official" 2.3 release as the DLL files care not included in the latest CVS builds and you'll need to copy just the "dll" folder from the official 2.3 to complement the latest CVS build.

Best of luck!

cool.gif   Hey what do u think of the newer nexgen coming out soon?  Maybe that'll be big enuf to upgrade slayers to v. 3?  Sounds pretty cool..maybe a evoX-nexgen hybrid sort of deal??... beerchug.gif

I got a question..
When I want to flash my matrix(mode4) using the evox setup by slayers i just goto flash Bios and choose the bios i have in my bios folder on the c: drive correct?  I just want to make sure it's flashing the matrix and not the onboard chip, or it won't hurt it anyways since I didn't solder anything, also correct..? blink.gif

Well, if NexGen does come out and it works I will have an updated release. laugh.gif

As for flashing the Matrix, I am unsure, I do not have or can test on one.  I setup the installer to flash using standard EvoX commands to the TSOP.

Best bet is to go to an EVOX forum and ask the question as it is their program.

If anyone has succesfully accomplished this however please post here to let everyone else know.

Best of Luck!

I`ve puted some emu`s in the slayers F: folder and it copies it to the xbox hd when i use the install dvd, but when i load 1 of the emu`s i only see a few roms, like with the Dgen (sega genesis emu) it only sees the Scooby Doo rom, with the Nes rom it only sees about 15roms, while i had about 600 in the folder, and when i installed it, i saw that it was copied to the hd, but when i use flashfxp it showes indeed that every emulator only contains a few roms, except the Snes emulator which works fine and also shows all the roms

plz help thanks

p.s there was enough HD space on E: left so that couldnt be it.

Well as for emulators we don't suport them, but i will try to help as much as I can.
The reason some things are not copied from the Installer CD to the HDD can be caused by not using a NEW CD-RW.
The Xbox has little problem reading a NEW first time written CD-RW but once a CD-RW is ereased and reused some of the data
seams to not be coppied during the install, this is also true when using other copy tools for the Xbox.

I recommend that since you say you can see the files in FlashfXP that you use FTP to add the Emu's to the HDD and or the Rom's
to the HDD that are missing, if you're trying to make a installer that will add all the things you have added to it in a one shot tool
then try and burn it to DVD-R or a new CD-RW and see it that works for you. other then that I do not have any suggestions.

Good luck in your ventures

Hmm i got it burned on princo 4x dvd-rs and they work good, and i see when installing that it copies it, but when its done, it seems that its not copied, i tried also on a other xbox, and with a new burned dvdr also once with a other brand dvdr, but no succes  sad.gif  unsure.gif

I dont know the reason for the files not being copied, since your using DVD-R media then there should be no read problems, with that said it does not answer your question to the problem you are having sorry i can't come up with a better answer except to use FTP to add them to the Xbox HDD.

Last weekend I installed the X2P in my XBOX. First time that I've ever modded anything and it went perfectly. Flashed it on Wednesday after several failed attempts (kept getting a verify error) and backed my XBOX HD up on Thursday. Put a 120GB HD in on Friday and used Slayers Auto Installer to complete the installation. This is a must have utility for first timers! Without it I would have been lost. Thank you Slayer!

HI:

I came on over to this topic cause I already used the SLayer Auto-Install on my XBox and it worked great.  But, I tried to get my buddys XBox to work, using X2Pro and Pogo Pins, just like mine, and couldnt get the box to pick up Chip when it was Flashed ( by X2BM) no matter what switch combos I used,  always when to M$Dash.  So, being the smarty pants I am, I brought his box ot my hous, popped my chip from my own XBox into his box, still MS Dash, treid to flash his chip from MY XBox, still MS Dash, put my X2 Pro back in my box, and guess what, my chip wont work now, only goes to MS Dash when chip is off, XBox FRAGS whenever I pop a switch on.  I try to re-flash my chip w/X2BM, but I get Man Cod 00 and Dev Code 00, or F0, f10, f0, f0, all kinda problems with it never can get 01 and 01, not on my XBox or my buddys.  I have my XBox listed below..any help you can give me is greatly appreciated, your chat room was the only was Ive been able to get help on ANYTHING with, but, no ones around this late., so i Figd i post here.  Ive already posted a couple other times in other topics about this.  Look for the other posts if you want more info.

WHen it comes down to it, this is what i need to do and the problems im having doing it

Sigtoms XBox:
v1.0 x/thomson DVD Drive
yupgraded 120 MB Maxtor HDD ( Slayer Auto Install CD ALREADY INSTALLED W/ALL APPS)
14 games backed up to HDD already
X2 Pro mod chip w/Pogo Pins.
BIOS: None on chip now, been erased or messed up when I switched chip to a friends XBox, cant read anything off the chip thru X2BM. Could the ribbon cable be the problem?  I tried my cable and the one that came with my buddys XBOX, still cant re-flash my chip.

Now as I said above, this DID work before i switched chips w/my buddy.  I dont care if i need to re-install the whole Slayer CD and all my gazmes, i just need it to work.

Sorry if this is lengthy, just try and give all the info I can.  Thanks in advanced.

dunno what it is, could you try to get slayers install disk working with 4 emulators in the apps folder with every emu about 50 roms or more?  beerchug.gif

Also tried a other folder like: Emus and edited the evox.ini, but still only a few roms where copied, while if i check the dvdr in the dvdrom of the pc, it shows the roms are really there  dry.gif  unsure.gif  blink.gif

Sorry to hear you are having the problems but the problems you are having are not caused by the installer and unless you formated the HDD in the xbox that was working then the install and the apps are just fine.
The pogo pins adapter for the X2PRO is a sorry ass thing to use but for those who do not wish to solder or can"t then it is an option, with that said if you read the forums for the pogo adapter you will see your not alone. there are many people having the same problem with it aligning right. What i would suggest is you solder in the pin header or have someone do it for you so you can have a stable xbox mod.
the reasons you get the error codes in X2BM is the chip is either not getting power from the motherboard or the ribon cable is installed wrong or pins not aligned right. so what one is it well it could be any one or more causing the problem, if you insist on the pogo adapter then it is a trial and error till you find the correct alignment of it. try and try it again and i am sure you alread have, also use a magnifying glass and look the traces over real good and that the places where the pins touch and the D0 point are clean of varnish and are not damaged. if the holes in the LPC on the MotherBoard are not filled with solder i dought you will ever get it aligned.
Sorry I dont have a quick fix for you except to solder in the header, also the bios you loaded on the chip is probably still in the chip but if it is not aligned right you can read it or boot to it so till you get it aligned right will you find out.

Good Luck you will need it!

Thanks you SOO much for giving me a reply.  I really do appreciate it.  SO far, thats the only real advice Ive been given and explanation as to why what is happeing may be happening.  Ill try and re-align the Pogo Pins again, and I will have it soldered, most likely on Wed.

When you say "if you havent formated your HDD" I assume you mean I havent formated it AFTER Ive already installed the 120 GB and Slayer Auto Install CD? If so, the no I havent formated it again, all the games and apps should be on there, thats what I thought , just wanst sure.  I almost ended up just shipping my XBox off to a company in Cali tyo fix it for me, but now I will give it the good ol college try one more time.  Thanks for you help and encouragement.

There is not an option for progressive mode in the installer you would have to either patch the evox 1.8.3285 that is installed by the installer or FTP you patches to the C: after the install. be careful of the evox.ini as it will be configured for the apps installed so just a heads up.

I am going to guess you used the NEW! SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.0 on your xbox and if this is the case there is an option to install evox, this will not format the hdd or delete anything. the options are 5) or 6) chose the one to fit you setup. this will install the evox and apps again. this should fix your problem and allow you to use the xbox as it was before you deleted the files that are causing the errors now.

Correct, in order to take advantage of all the latest software for the xbox the bios MUST be kept updated as well!

Go for any of the new MultiVersion bioses out there like the EvoX D6 ejectfix or the X2 4976.02

NOTE:  the new SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.1, coming out soon, REQUIRES the new bioses and will NOT WORK properly without an updated bios on your mod chip!

Go here: http://www.xbox-scene.com/bios11.php  and look for the "change bootfile" feature!

And remember that if you're using a bios that boots from E: or F: not only is it not suported by the installer but the feature you need to look for is the "F/E-boot v2"

Ability to UPDATE EvoX by itself or XBMP & all the Apps is Included in 2.1!!!

Install will occur under "e:Apps" for retail HD's and "f:Apps" for upgraded HD's

Remember that if you just update the apps your old EvoX will not see them unless you update it too or have it looking under the proper "Apps" folder!

Best bet is to Update Both EvoX and the Apps!

Who are "they" ?

Did your HD get upgraded or are you running the retail 8 or 10GB?

If you got a 10GB and apps have been installed on the 2GB F: drive then just choose the Install/Upgrade Large HD as that will put everything under "F:apps"

EvoX will still be installed in C: so this will obviousely not work with F: mod bioses!

E: or F: mod boot bioses are not supported because there will be to many variables to support it properly.  Only advanced users who feel confortable with manually editing EvoX , all the config files and do not rely on an auto-installer, should use E: or F: mod bioses anyway!

I have the D6 Bios, do I need the eject version at least to run v2.1?  Which Bios do you recommend?

Any Multiversion Bios will work.  D.6 seems to allow EvoX to boot from CD-RW when the HD is new/blank where as X2 is a bit of a pain with that.  However X2 4976.02 has assome media patching and IGR.

I recommend you install using the D.6 and once up and running go to X2 4976.02!

Hey guys. Just wanted to thow my $0.02 in. This installer helped this newb get up and running with minimal effort. It was intuitive and installed all of the apps I was interested in using. I highly recommend this to any newb who wants a hand getting started, especially if you are trying to use a CD-RW. And if you are ever in the Seattle area PM me, I owe ya one huge fuckin beer mate!

Your wish is my command

Ability to UPDATE EvoX by itself or XBMP & all the Apps is Included in 2.1!!!

Install will occur under "e:Apps" for retail HD's and "f:Apps" for upgraded HD's

Remember that if you just update the apps your old EvoX will not see them unless you update it too or have it looking under the proper "Apps" folder!

Best bet is to Update Both EvoX and the Apps!

thanks......this wont bother my emulators installed on f/apps right?

Whats the chances of adding emulators into the apps of Slayer's auto install 2.1 that would be much appreciated. biggrin.gif

This has been asked before and the answer will still be the same, The Installer is just that to install the needed apps and EvoX to get you going. From this point you need to start doing for your self, this is not meant bad it is a fact. the tool gets you started and has enough things installed to allow you to do just about anything with the Xbox. if you want to add or remove something then study how things are installed on the Xbox and even look over the installer ini files to see how things are set up. this is how you learn to do for yourself.
You have made it this far so why stop now start reading and dig in to the Xbox. it can be fun to make it your creation of things.

Enjoy

It should not as v2.1 only copies the standard programs under the "Apps" folder.

It should not replace other folders, though it does copy an empty folder called "Emulators" under the Apps folder.  (AppsEmulators)  If you have the same exact name, it could be overwritten, but I am not 100% sure, I cannot test all the posibilities.

In any event, and as with ANY software that changes your xbox, YOU are responsible for a full backup prior to using it.  Please make sure to take care of that to avoid crying later...

Keep your eyes open for the v2.1 release anouncement in the NewsFlash section of this Page...

My thompson drive is a pile of M$hit. With out your disk, walk through, and my buddy's DVD drive I'd have NEVER gotten Evox up and running.Your disk gave me the confidence to get through it. With out the walk through I would'nt have known what to do and would have burnt out my XBOX. Now I can get down to brass tax!

QUOTE (buggs1a @ Apr 28 2003, 06:01 PM)
Slayer 2.1 has a big bug in my opinion. SS113 mentioned it now deletes the MS dash on an upgrade. i had to use slayer 2.0 to re patch in the ms dash. so there should be a 2.1.1 or something. other then this it's an awesome upgrade over 2.0.

In the first place there is NO BUG in the Version 2.1 of the installer. It does not delete any such thing, It does use a different file name then the 2.0 version did and if you and your BIG mouth and know it all attitude would just shut up and listen for once you would not make such an ass out of yourself.

Since you got mouthy in the mIRC and I Kick/Banned you because you would not stop running off at the jaws maybe you can keep it closed long enough to read the rest of this post!

Version 2.1 of the installer uses the default file names use in the new releases instead of the earlier releases. This was done so that if there is another release of the installer Evox and XBMP should not have a path or file name issues.
The file name used now is xboxdash.xbe for the M$ Dash in EvoX and in version 2.0 it was msxboxdash.xbe and this was causing some confusion, only 1 M$ dash file name is now used for both retail M$ Dash and the M$ Dash in EvoX.

Now where your problem all started is because you do not use retail boot and never even checked to see if you Matrix would boot to retail so in the Version 2.0 you never even finished the proper install and so when you installed Version 2.1 over 2.0 it then used the dash you never set up. so where does the bug fall. In my opinion it falls on you.

Once again there is NO Bug in the installer. The XBMP has also been change to meet the defaults now used in all the current releases and this may cause a few problems for a few people but it is not a bug it is a change in the way the installer is built to meet future releases of all apps.

The End

Not familiar with step/option 5, 5-2, but are you sure you have the mod chip enabled?  If it is disabled, it boots the MS (retail) dash, enabled it will boot evox (assuming xecuter2 and I think matrix)

Upgrade you mod chip fw to the executer fw. You can do ths w/slayers disc. Problem was solved for me by doing this.

hi everyone...

im pretty much a noob when it comes to xbox modding etc... but i try to read as much information as i can get my hands on...

one questionhas been left unanswered for me, even after reading manuals, readmes, and posts in the forum.

the readmes for slayers installer 2.1 suggest that it only (?) works with xboxes 1.1 and 1.0

what about 1.2 and 1.3 boxes? i myself have a 1.3 and i was wondering if i can use the auto installer without messing up my xbox

any replys are appreciated

Yes you can use it on any PAL/NTSC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, & 1.3.
I strongly suggest you do a backup of the C: and E: before doing any install of anything the 5XXX dash is not available except in a new Xbox so be sure to back it up before adding the evox and apps.

Enjoy

SS113

Also use the 2.1 thread this is for the old 2.0 installer it is in this forum.

Take the time to read the doc's, this will answer most of your questions.
If you still have questions about the installer or your xbox not reading the disk you will need to supply alot more info for anyone to be able to help you.
1st how did you burn the ISO and with what program
2nd version of xbox and or DVD drive in the xbox as well
3rd modchip installed in the xbox
4th Bios version on the modchip
any error codes shown on the screen.

without this type of info it is all guess work as to why you are having problems, it can be many things so to get the right answers give the info needed to get a good answer.
