Guys,
I am trying to figure a few things out with Exox dashboard.
I have downloaded several versions.
I have the following versions:
1.8.458 - This I have as an ISO. A little over 7 MB and includes the menu.ini file. However I see no default.xbe file as required in the tutorial. The tutorial for installing this version is very basic and not as good as the others on this site.
1.8.2594 - This I have downloaded and has two directories after unzipping with WinRar. SKIN and BIOS. SKIN is obvios. But it's the BIOS I am concerned about. All there is in this directory is ExoX 2.4 bin file which is 1 MB. Isn't this just for a BIOS flash? I have searched quite a bit for the details and don't understand why there is no version of this Evox in the download.. Again where is the default.xbe and evox.ini files necessary to burn on the Evox install disc? Do I have to independantly find 1.8.2594, default.xbe, and evox.ini and create my own ISO disc? I don't get the pont here
1.8.3285 - Same sceanrio as 1.8.2594 but the BIOS directory has files EvoX D.6 Eject Fix and EvoX D.6
Then I downloaded EvoX Install All 1.1. this seemed better and included many files including the default.xbe and evox.ini files. Just don't know what version of Evox this is. The way I understand is the Default.xbe is renamed to the correct file name on the Xbox when I install to the hardrive. Evox.ini also needs to be modified to FTP correctly and for the DVD drive and software to perform correctly so I understand all this.
Someone just PLEASE clearly explain what files I need to burn on my Evox disc for installing to my XBOX. The downloads seem to all be in pieces.
I am installing an X-Ecuter 2 Lite Modchip with disable switch. Planning on just using Evox for getting Original XBox game images and creating backups. At least for now. No installing games to hardrive for the time being. One step at a time.
Also, which version of Evox, once I figure out what files I need to have, should be the one I install?
Thanks.

noobie,
great job answering my question and helping me out

I would use 1.8.3285
Also if you are still confused about installing and what files you need you should go here

I know what to do and I know I need files evox.ini and default.xbe on the boot disk. Is default .xbe the actual Evox program? I am just questioning the downloads I. Seems as though I am missing the actual EVOX application but not sure.
I just need a simple damn reply. I'm not asking for much here. I have been reading for a week and learned a lot.
Since I put up this post I have Slayers install. I just want to know what files are what. What is the HD Bin Image file for?
-
I think you will find that 1.8.3285 is the latest version.
-
Use 3285, the hd.bin file is for if you choose for format a new hdd.
default.xbe is the dashboard, its just named that so it boots when you burn it to a disc. Once it boots on your xbox you ftp to your xbox and copy default.xbe and evox.ini to c:, you then rename the default.xbe to evoXdash.xbe.
If you using an X2L you dont need a bios folder at all, feel free to delete it. Auto install is ok but i would do it manually. IE transfer evox to your xbox on its own, the just ftp your files across wherever you want them.

82ross,
Finally someone who answered my question. I probably don't have to use Slayer's disk because once I find I can FTP with Slayers disk on bootup without installing to the HD I will be good.
The first thing I will be doing is backing up the C: and E: directories before I do anything. I got my X-Ecuter 2 Lite Mod Chip today and will install over the weekend. Then FTP through my Speedstream router and hope it works.
Is it okay to use 100' length RJ45 from the router to my Xbox? My PC is far from my Xbox. I can pull the XBox to the PC but I read that the XBox Audio connections need to be hooked up to a T.V. to FTP.

Check your PM.
If all your looking for is the EvoX boot disk
then you should get a package that has this file name:
EvolutionX_beta_V1.8.3285.rar
and contains these files:
Bios <--- folder with bios images
Skins <--- hummmm...
evox.ini <--- EvoX menu settings
default.xbe <---- EvoX dashboard
EvolutionX_beta_V1.8.3285.nfo
EvoX Install All 1.1.rar and NewHDEvoX1.2.rar
are for preparing new hard drives in an xbox.
Just like slaYer's disk except with less apps.
I use PrimoDVD and burn using UDF8+3 however
Go here to learn how to make a boot disk that is right for you:
The Complete Guide To Producing , Extracting, ...
Maximum twisted pair cable length point to point is about 100m for both 10Mbs and 100Mbs.
You dont need the cable connected to the TV
but you do need the cable plugged into the back of the xbox to FTP
(The Xbox will fail to boot without a video cable plugged into the xbox)

Thanks again Errex.
Check your P.M.
So it's the video connection, in my case the S-Video cable, which has to be plugged into the XBox but not the T.V. in order for it to boot? I thought is was audio that needed to be connected on both ends.
I already have my boot disc made. I will get the chip installed today or tomorrow.
I don't quite get your response on my RJ45 cable length though. If 100 meters max is the answer than I am okay with the 100' ft RJ45 correct?
Thanks a bunch errex. Your two post answers to me (and your PM of course) helped more than 10 other posts full of bullshit I received.

Sorry, that's Audio/Video cable.
They are one and the same.
Just need that cable plugged into the back of the xbox and it will boot fine so you can ftp to it.
Correct about the cable length.
